I called a couple of months in advance to schedule my appointment and then called again the Monday before my appointment (that Saturday) to confirm the price of the service I wanted (balayage). The woman I spoke to quoted me $203.00, which I was fine with and had planned my finances accordingly. When I arrived for my appointment, everything with the stylist went smoothly, but when I went to check out, I was told the total was $328.93--$125.93 MORE than the price I was quoted just days earlier. This is a huge discrepancy, and it caught me off guard, especially after I had specifically confirmed the price only days before. Not only was I frustrated by the unexpected cost, but it also meant I couldn't tip my stylist as generously as I had planned. This lack of transparency and poor communication from the front desk is completely unacceptable. It's a huge disappointment because the stylist was wonderful, but the experience overall was marred by the miscommunication. I strongly urge the salon to address their pricing clarity and ensure that customers are quoted accurate information to avoid situations like this in the future. I'm new to waxing, so at first I wasn't sure whether what happened was normal, but after talking with my wife afterward, it sounds like it was not. During my first visit, after the waxing was completed, my back was wiped down and some type of soothing cream was applied. This time, the moment the final strip was removed, the technician immediately walked out saying, "I'll see you at the front." There was no cleanup, no wipe down, and no aftercare product applied at all. I had to put my shirt back on over a raw, sticky back, which was pretty uncomfortable. Additionally, the wax/oil felt significantly hotter than during my first appointment. For a service that ends up costing around $100 with tip, I expected a bit more of a spa-like experience and consistency. To be fair, this place receives very good reviews overall, so maybe this was just an off experience. I even wondered afterward if I had somehow offended the esthetician, though I can't imagine how since I'm not much of a talker. They seemed perfectly fine when checking me out and even scheduled me for another appointment in 4 weeks, so I'm honestly just trying to make sense of the difference between visits. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that I won't be returning.

I am 81, still work with the public and routinely receive compliments on both my hair and nails. I'm old school when I wear matching lipstick and nail polish to coordinate with colors in my clothing...and yes my toenails too‼ Jana is the owner and I've gone to her salon in Burlington for 12 years. She is a perfectionist and makes sure that I consistently receive a great spa experience. My nails are shaped as I want and she makes sure that I am well cared for. Jana always asks about my mother who came with me to Jana many years ago while she was alive and visiting me in La Conner. She cares and it shows Family work with Jana in the salon making it a loving environment. The prices are great and a great value. Oh! By the way I have my Cosmetology license in Washington state for Hair, Skin, and nails so I know that Jana has a safe work environment that provides the necessary sanitary requirements by the State Board for Cosmetology in Washington State.
