We went to lunch here on Taco Tuesday. It was quite busy with only one person serving tables. She actually did a fantastic job cleaning off tables, taking orders and serving food hot out of the kitchen. We had the Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger and home cut fries. I came here on a staff ride with my Brigade to of course visit the famous Battle of Columbus! It's pretty cool when you've got all the history and remarks from the actual Soldiers that were involved so you actually know how Poncho Villa tried to raid the town. As part of this visit, we all ate at the Patio Cafe and their specialties are burgers. I ordered the Wildcat burger and it's a really thick big burger! It's cooked well done but it's not dry at all. Really solid burger. My only complaint was the bread. Not the best bread. The two ladies that run the place are super nice. And I also got a piece of their angel food cake which you can see in my pic, sitting on top of the register. It's pretty awesome. Obviously, very homemade. And there's also free wifi! So if you come and visit, I definitely recommend this place. Be warned that about 1/4 of our Soldiers couldn't finish the burger because it's so big! read more

Well, for it to be Taco Tuesday, they were sold out. We were told to call ahead and have them set some aside (They're 72miles from me, & this was a day trip). Then they were outta straws. Gave us coffee stirrers. The tea had no taste & looked like that clear tea from Kiki's restaurant (on Piedras). They need more help. The owners daughter was nice but over whelmed and kept forgetting things. Burger was ok. It was big and could only eat half. Crinkle fries were nice & hot. read more

We were headed to Elisa's House of Pies and Restaurant, but with the dog in tow, plans changed and a patio was now in the mix. It was warmish, so we had it to ourselves that day. Nondescript and could use a little tidying, but pleasant enough. Our server was a bit rushed b/c of a large party inside, but efficient and super-pleasant. Berta the vegetarian had the oh-so ooey-gooey grilled cheese ("sheriffic," she mumbled between bites) with fantastic onion rings (she shared two). Cheri liked her Junior Club sandwich - a single-decker, but plenty of food for all but the hungriest, and Fred said his burger was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. I had the fried pork cutlet sandwich with a side of navy bean soup. The soup was great - the beans tender and the broth flavorful, but the sandwich was over-the-top good: the pork cutlet was crispy/crunchy and just thick enough to keep it moist, simply accompanied by lettuce, tomato and dwarfing the nicely toasted bun. I trimmed off the edges as a pre-snack, but Gia, our Weimaraner, has soulful eyes, so the snackage was repurposed. A satisfying meal with friends (and dog), served by pleasant staff in a pleasant location - that pretty well sums up my def of a good lunch. read more

My experience is based upon a set show time and pre-ordered meal for a party of 16 to give perspective. The food was great! I had the Wildcat Burger which was hand made patty cooked well. Bacon, peppers, and the rest of the toppings were excellent. Fries homemade and tasted great. No one left hungry and the club and the rest of the meals looked great. Great place! Even as a vegan, this establishment,which specializes in burgers,makes every effort to accommodate me and other vegetarians and vegans by offering plentiful salads with a great variety of nutritious vegetables, and veggie-burgers loaded with green-leaf lettuce,white onion and tomato. In a sparsely populated place like Columbus, NM,this is a rarity, and very welcomed. Their Deming location even recently went out of their way to separate the cooking of my veggie-burger from the meat grill. Both locations have just the right ambiance to provide the customer with expedient and comfortable surroundings, both with outdoor seating. That such a small town as Columbus brings in such a large crowd at lunch,with patrons coming from many miles around, speaks volumes about the restaurants' quality and service. read more

Wow, what a difference a couple of years can make. This last visit I was underwhelmed. The burgers were not cooked medium as the menu stated but were pretty well done, my wife's was burned looking. My mom ordered the fish and chips and they substituted Pollack for the Cod without even asking if that was fine. It was mostly breading and the fish was fatty and weak looking. Probably frozen by the looks of it. When we asked the waitress she just hollered back to the cook who confirmed it had been switched because they had run out of Cod. She apologized for the switch but never even offered any other response like, "hey, let me take that off the bill for you since we didn't tell you". I didn't feel like complaining as I was just in shock at the 180 degree turn this place made. Maybe caught them on a bad night but every time we have eaten here it has been great so I'm not buying that. We even had a different server than we have in the past so I'm thinking that may have made a difference as well. The cook didn't impress me though. Not coming back again and will just wait until Amarillo or back home in San Diego for my burger fix. Oh, and by the way, when you make a hamburger with jalapenos on it, they should be fresh and not out of a jar or can. For heavens sakes, your right in the heart of the land of all thins peppers and I even picked up some awesome fresh ones right next door at Pepper's the other day. I don't get it. read more

Best burger I have eaten! I had the Patio burger and could not eat it all. Husband had the bacon cheese burger and loved it. Great taste, no greasiness, cooked to perfection. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is the flies keep bothering us. Someone had left the door open. read more

I have eaten at both locations--in Deming and Columbus. My favorite item on the menu is the Chicago burger--a burger topped with lots of cheese and a big handful of warm tangy green olives. My folks had burgers as well, and raved about them and about the sweet potato fries that came with them. They make a great Arnie Palmer, and have a huge selection of yummy drinks to choose from. read more

Traveling through Columbus, NM, starving and looking for a fun place to eat. The Patio is very stylish, neat and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were there on Taco Tuesday- the special was a taco basket (4 hard-shell beef tacos). Perfect tacos- real tortillas, lots of filling, with fresh salsa bandera and salsa fresca. I found the Columbus location when I came to visit my husbands family several years ago. I have since moved to Columbus and it is always a treat to go to the Patio, I have also eaten at the Deming location and it is good but the Columbus one is better. They have a pork tenderloin sandwich which is to die for. Normally a treat you can only get in parts of the Mid West. If you are in Columbus don't miss this treat. read more
