I ordered the pork chop and wasn't expecting to have a pool of applesauce soaking the entire plate that was a downside to the dish, especially because my asparagus and fries were soaked in applesauce with such a large piece of meat that they gave me the outside was flavorful, but unfortunately, once you cut into the pork chop, it was dry and flavorless. My husband had the chicken Cordon Bleu same thing with his the outside had flavor, but the inside lacked. The prices of the menu are very high. We stopped here on the advice of an old timer local. It did not disappoint. Tucked out of town you'd never find it on your own. Very eclectic. Restaurant seems to be an old barn with game trophies all over the walls as well as dollar bills stapled up throughout. Lots to look at. Staff was friendly, food was good. Others have raved about the French onion soup, it was good, I've had better but it was definitely the cheesiest. We ordered the rack of pork ribs and they were amazing. My husband says the best he's ever had. Fall off the bone tender, smoked to perfection with a nice sticky barbecue glaze that wasn't burned on them. Highly recommend stopping here. Came back a year later for another try. This time our group of 5 started with a large appetizer tray consisting of fried mushrooms, green beans and jalapeño poppers. Washed em down with some cold brews. Very good. I had the NY Strip with a baked potato and salad. Three others had Rib Eyes with baked potatoes and French Onion Soup, and one had the Green Chile Cheeseburger with fries. The soup was outstanding. The burger also had 1/2 lb of quality meat and needed to be cut in half to eat properly. All in all this is a must go experience if you're ever in the Deming area. read more

My sister lives in Las Cruces & brought me here to dine about 5 years ago! Although it's a little off the beaten path, but it definitely is worth the drive! Adobe Deli quickly became our favorite restaurant in Deming. Despite the fact that it's a bit of a drive into the desert, and I'm sorry to say it's pricey, but good things are worth the cost. I found out about it in a checkout line at Walmart when I was buying a bunch of onions and mentioned I was going to be making onion soup in my crockpot. The gentleman in front of me popped up and told me about the onion soup at Adobe Deli. We were sold on our very first visit! My husband had a French dip sandwich and was able to have half to take home so 2 meals for the price of one! And the fellow at Walmart was 100% correct about the soup. Best I've ever had. Well this is a very strange place in the middle of nowhere. You can tell at some point it was a great place. After looking over the reviews and pictures of beautiful thick ribeye steaks we were excited to go. Unfortunately the pork ribs on the beautiful skewer were barely room temp. Adobe Deli is located in the middle of nowhere (~10miles outside of Deming...and of course..geographically..it's just middle of nowhere in the US..and..also NM!). Both steaks and french onion soup are just something that don't pop up in my mind a lot when I think of something to eat. I got a ribeye (which came with 2 sides, to which i picked a side salad and a french onion soup). The service was fast despite being prime dinner time. I supposed the Friday evening/night I stopped by, they weren't super slammed yet..so I lucked out with quick service. I thought the French Onion soup was good..upon tasting them with first few spoons. I hadn't had good French Onion soup forever..and could tell upon eating it that it definitely ranked one of the top French Onion soups among what I had had previously elsewhere. The steak was tender and cooked well. I ordered medium rare, so some middle of strak pieces were still pinkish/on a rare side. The meat tasted pretty good and so tender that i avtually quite enjoyed it. I would say it was worth eating for sure (despite me not being a big meat eater at all even). Overall, I would give this place 4 stars. The serving was ok. They didn't have the filet mignon that I wanted, so I ended up with a ribeye steak ($34.50) jnstead. Drinks were served in beer pong red plastic cups..and utensils were kindda left bae on a table..so i felt it could have been a bit more professional. That said, the setting of an old scboop house which collected lots of old memorabilia and taxidermy was sort of interesting. You could just freely browse around the building seeing interesting things/collection they got from the past. What happened to this place? Sure, it's in a rundown impoverished area, but.....! The stale smoke smell slaps your nostrils entering. Thought smoking in public had left a while ago. Have eaten here over time for the unique decor and menu. Duck, tilapia, lots of beef. Not super busy, yet not quickly acknowledged. A staple has been the French onion soup & it was wonderful yet watery. Meals come with choice of soup or salad and choice of starch. Was pleasantly surprised with tender fresh asparagus. Went with ossu bucco (meat fell off the bone) and chicken cordon Bleu. Bird was thick, tough, dry, & greasy. They also forgot to remove a large bone from the cutlet. Oops. This might have been a low 3 star, but the real insult was the addition of a hefty surcharge for credit card use. $66 for an only ok dinner in the boonies is crazy. Correct- 1 beer only. Upon driving down the road, we weren't exactly sure what we had gotten ourselves into. Tucked in the middle of the desert and full of antiques sits this fine establishment. Once we cozied up to the bar, we were amazed with all of the walls covered in years of amenities, trophies, craziness, and greeted with a bartender who provided us with a tour of the establishment. If we could recommend anything, you've got to try the New Mexican Chicken Rolls as an appetizer. Additionally we ordered ribs and steaks which both came out to order & homemade. Overpriced, defrosted food in a dark cave covered with taxidermy and layers of dust. We went on a Sunday which ended up being the one day they don't serve deli sandwiches. We waited 20 minutes to order drinks. The beef on the $18 hamburger ended up being frozen, preformed patties so I went with cheese fries. Steak and fries was near $40. Deli sandwiches $18. My sons corn dog was tough like it had been microwaved on the wrong setting straight out the freezer. Compared to our previous experiences here, our latest was distressing. The service was abysmally slow at all tables, despite having as many different servers as occupied tables. No hostess upon arrival, and no signage as to whether or not to wait for one. We ordered the crabcake apps. They were commercial frozen patties, but pleasant enough. We also ordered the famous Onion Soup. The bowls were smothered in way too much mozzarella, detracting from the actual soup underneath. The soup itself tasted more of bread than onion. My wife ordered the Pepper & Sausage Hero. It came in a huge au gratin dish, and was also overly smothered in a thick slab of mozzarella. (She estimates a pound of cheese between the sandwich and her soup.) The sandwich was too soggy to pick up. The peppers were stewed and mushy, there was no seasoning, and the sausage was cut into small coins: five boiled, tasteless bites. It was one of the few times in 50 years that I have seen her declare a restaurant meal inedible. I ordered the ribs. The rack was way more massive than I expected (I actually got three meals out of it). They were cooked perfectly to fall off the bone, but there was no appreciable rub or sauce, and they needed basic seasoning; as did the onion rings they came with, which were also undercooked. If you want a steak and a great bowl of French onion soup this is the place. I know it seems like it's out in the middle of nowhere - it is! - but the trip is part of the fun. Just remember if you drink from the full bar (yay full bar!) you have to still drive out of there. Order your steak one down from the way you like it...if you want med rare, get rare etc. Make reservations for weekends and sometimes weeknights. It never hurts. This place is 9 miles outside Deming. It's hot and dusty and no where to sit and wait. No one wants to wait in the heat of the desert. Just call and make a reservation. And make sure you specify inside if that's where you want. Their patio is pretty unimpressive. I know it's a destination for a lot of folks in the Deming, Silver City and Las Cruces area. But our lunch experience left me happy we didn't make a special trip there for lunch. We were coming back from City of Rock. It took 30 minutes and two warm beers before our sandwiches arrived. The buffalo burger was dry even for lean buffalo. My bbq sammy was huge! I brought half home. But it needed onion or pickle or jalapeno. Something for a little kick. If you're thinking of getting the oysters (they are hard to find in the desert) just know they are usually sold out. Yeah, the place is unique. It's stuffed to the rafters with taxidermy and odd collectables and dust. I'm not impressed with the clutter of it. But I guess that's part of it's charm. read more

Anyways, went with the family experience the food and ambiance. We all ordered the classic burger with mine being a buffalo burger as well as bacon wrapped Chile poppers. Overall food was good but could have been a bit juicier. They were short on staff so took awhile before getting our food. It was fine with us as we were admiring the very unique decor with TONS of taxidermy animals everywhere. An oasis in what is literally the middle of nowhere, about 14 minutes from our Airbnb. A truly eclectic, "eat where the locals eat" kind of place. It is decorated with huge taxidermied animals from all over the globe, hard hats, an industrial ceiling fan, and numerous antiques that seem to be tossed around. Driving down I-10 towards Phoenix, the billboard beckons "Best Ribeye in the Southwest!" Adobe Deli. The ribeye siren song was too strong so we took the detour to the tiny town of Deming. The place is a few mile from the city down a nondescript dirt road. As you enter the establishment, you notice this is no ordinary steakhouse. It's part bar, part smoking parlor, part restaurant, part Texas chainsaw massacre. Animal heads and exotic game are the primary decor but you also find some interesting and unique antiques throughout the place. Dust and weathered furniture abound. It's pretty cool and a little scary at the same time. Service on this Sunday was incredibly slow. Lots of people sitting around with no food on their table. We grabbed a place by the bar had some drinks and waited awhile for our table. If you are in a hurry, keep driving. As to the food, and in particular the ribeye, it was good but did not live up to the hype as the best in the Southwest. Not nearly enough marbled fat in the cut of meat to make it super tender. Overall it was good and on par with what you might find at Outback Steakhouse. The French dip was also good. Good cuts of meat and the au jus sauce was very flavorful. If you find yourself in this part of the world, it's worth a stop for the experience and photo opportunities. read more

I had a chance to try this restaurant! I grew up in Deming and this was a real treat! Getting there and finding the restaurant surrounded by identical looking buildings was a small challenge but once walking thru the front door you soon realize one reason for its popularity- a museum of great antiques! My wife and I ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly with a delicious taste The onion soup was outstanding, I noticed the table over had ordered a rack of ribs that looked amazing. So a friend told us to eat here and the first time we didn't go because of its distance off the highway. Just go! It's crazy adorable and out in the middle of nowhere. One of a kind. Largest sandwich I've ever ordered. Next time we will make time to eat there and have a $37 filet dinner. read more
