Let's talk about Peterson's Donut Corner! As a donut connoisseur, I thought I was prepared, but the…read moresheer number of options had me in awe! I didn't know where to begin. Every time something caught my eye, there was another donut making the decision even harder! I love that you can see right in and watch the donuts being made. There's something about seeing the process that makes you even more excited to get your order and take that first bite! The donuts were fresh, soft, and absolutely delicious. The kind that makes you slow down to enjoy each bite while already thinking about which one you're trying next! If you love donuts like I do, give yourself some time to take in all the options. Choosing might be the hardest part, but it's a delicious problem to have!

### ** The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly **…read more First off: major respect to **Peterson's Donut Corner** in Escondido! They're a legendary, classic mom-and-pop landmark that's been serving up 24/7 sweetness since 1957. You've gotta love a local icon... but we need to talk about my latest visit. --- ### **THE BAD & THE UGLY ** The main villain of this story? The **Ham, Cheese, and Jalapeño Croissant**. Things went off the rails when I innocently asked for it to be "warmed up." What returned in that classic white bag was a certified Chernobyl refugee. It wasn't "warmed"--it was **nuked** to the point that the croissant molecules merged directly into the pastry paper. They became as one. During this unholy atomic fusion, the croissant dough did a full-on **Benjamin Button**--the dough literally *reversed age* back into raw batter! I was eating nuked, raw dough wrapped around a slice of Farmer John-style ham, bonded together by whatever cheese originally started in there. **My heartfelt recommendation:** Make a $4.95 donation to the *Chernobyl Let's Get Healthy Again Association* rather than order this croissant. --- ### **THE GOOD Giant Cherry Fritter Energy!** What do my eyes deceive me? A **CHERRY FRITTER**?! Not apple... CHERRY! Naturally, I had to test drive this beast. * **The Size:** Absolute unit. It's roughly the size of a 9-month-old baby weighing 12 pounds. It's HUGE. * **The Crunch:** The outside is coated in a delicious, crackly glaze with a great crunch, all while keeping a soft, moist interior. * **The Cherry Search Party:** Where... *where* is the cherry? The baker was playing hide-and-seek with me. *"I'll call it a cherry fritter and see if you can find the cherries as advertised!"* Well played, Grasshopper. What I actually got tasted mostly like apple filling with a faint whisper of cherry. The flavor was honestly still good, but a bit disappointing since it didn't live up to its official name. --- **Final Verdict:** Go for the legendary 24/7 donut vibes and massive fritters, but leave the microwave setting to the professionals! -
