Haircut and color. My hairstylist was great there and some other good ones too!! They left because of the cheap color they had to work with at the Parlor. It was bad. She owns Amara salon and I get awesome color, and service from her, and all the others at Amara are amazing too! My hair looks great and healthy now! read more

Made an appt for a haircut ....showed the stylist several photos similar to what I would want. A layered shag type haircut. She washed and conditioned my hair well. But the cut was a disaster. I now have flat bangs, two heavy "hunks" of hair hanging just below the level of my ears, a second harsh "layer" about four inches longer than that....complete separation....no transition whatsoever. This after asking her twice to cut more layers and pointing out the harsh lines. Asked her if she could roll it. She told me they do not have hot rollers.In the salon and that she had "never mastered rollers anyway". She lightly combed my limp, still slightly damp at the roots hair and told me I was "all set". I kind of felt sorry for her... seemed to have gotten thrown in over her head with no training. Just had no clue what she was doing. Paid my $60 plus a $10 pity tip. Def needs more training. If she couldn't do a basic cut like that. read more

This is by far the worst haircut I've ever received in my existence. I showed the lady a video and pictures of exactly what I wanted and she said she was able to do it. She cut off way more than I told her to do, we get to the end of the haircut and she mentioned how she has a little clipper experience. This is extremely frustrating because now I have to go to another place to get my hair fixed and pay even more. read more

I took my 1 year old son here for his first 3 haircuts and the first time went great. The second time I told the stylist we just wanted it trimmed and showed her pictures of his first haircut and asked for the same thing. she chose to try and give him a style I didn't ask for and used electric trimmers on him because she was too afraid to use sheers (which is what was used the first time and went fine). He screamed in terror at the trimmers being on his head and I tried to keep him still and give him candy to distract, but what we ended up leaving with was a disaster. He had random long pieces, uncut hair on his neck and it was just terribly done. today we went back and I had requested the first stylist. When we arrived I was told she wouldn't be back until next Thursday and the girl cutting it was one I hadn't seen before so I figured we would give it a try. she started off doing good with the sheers and being patient with him, but he kept turning his head. she asked the owner to come over and help because "he wouldn't let her do it" the owner said use the trimmers and I told her (after I had told the girl cutting it) that he was terrified of them and she said "it would just be a minute" and held his head down to my shoulder while he screamed and she trimmed the side and back. then she kept telling me it just had to be done so it was okay. on top of all that when we went to pay we were "accidentally" overcharged and they offered to credit it to our next hair cut. Safe to say, there will NOT be a next haircut with them. read more

My friend and I went here before a friend's wedding to get some up-do's. I didn't really know anything about the place and was hoping it would be good. I was pleasantly surprised! We walked in and were greeted right away. The salon was busy (always a good sign) and appeared very clean. My stylist, Stephanie, was fantastic! Everyone kept commenting at the wedding how great my hair looked. My friend had a different stylist who was also fantastic! For $45, we both felt like stars! I have moved out of Mississippi, and still have not found anyone quite like Kaylee! Whenever I come back to visit I always get my hair done by her! Both experiences with this salon were horrible! On my first visit, I went with a friend. She wanted a perm and I wanted to color my hair. We were both new in town so we didn't really know much about the hair salons in town! We both left wondering what on earth happened! We left with something different than what we came in for. My friend got a perm with curls that were much smaller than what she asked for. The hairdresser also permed her bangs, whereas my friend did not want to perm her bangs. I asked the hairdresser to color my hair to a color as close to the color I already had as possible. I told her that I had very "persistent" grey and she should use something strong on my hair to make sure the color "took". Typically, you pay about $100+ 20% tip for color and blow out. She gave me a color 3-4 shades darker than what I had at the time, almost black. She asked me what I wanted for a blow out. I said I wanted loose curls... natural looking! Oh my goodness!! When I left the salon I looked like I was in a fight and someone was pulling my hair for half an hour!! I had to drive straight home and use my curling iron to redo my hair! She did not dry my hair before she started styling it, so I ended up with just this huge blow out, which looked like nothing! After I went home I noticed that my grey was not covered entirely and after a couple of washes my hair started fading and the grey started showing again, in less than a week! I decided to give them the benefit of a doubt, after I had a huge accident. I decided to color my hair at home, since I paid so much the first time I was there. I chose the color matching my hair, because I didn't know I had to go a couple of shades lighter with box dye to get the color I wanted. My hair was black, so I called the salon and asked for an appointment to fix this... My big, big, huge mistake was that I did not ask them how much it was going to cost, because my hairdresser never charged me for this process (the times she did it, she had accidentally gotten my color a little darker). I did ask how long it was going to take and they said between 2-3 hours. I booked an appointment for 9am. I was there from 9am till about 3:30pm, I think. My hairdresser did not spent that entire time on me, and I did not expect her to stay put while waiting for the dye and what not... I explained to her what my first experience at the salon was and she said not to worry; she had a 20-year experience! So she first tried to strip the dye off my hair, and I understand, it was a pretty dark color and it needed a lot of time... But she rushed! She took it our too early and some parts of my hair were orange, and some were black and some others were green!! She was getting ready to dye my hair and be done and I told her that my hair was not ready! I showed her the dark spots, which was almost my entire hair! She decided to do the process all over again! Another 40 some minutes... She removes the stinky substance from my hair and well... mostly orange spots, and much less black, but definitely not what it was supposed to be! In the meantime I am just horrified! that liquid substance was not just stinky, it was also pretty harsh on my hair... The hairdresser decided to color my hair... She said all the dark and orange spots will be covered by the dye! 45-50 minutes later, she removes the color and starts to dry my hair in order to style it! By that time I was there for more than 5 hours and just wanted to be done! I looked at the mirror and noticed that there were still patches of orange and black here and there!! I told her and she said, well... it happens! I cannot do anything right now, but you can stop by any time, and I will deal with it. You do not need an appointment! Just come in ask for me and it will only take 10 minutes! She, once again, asked me how I style my hair and was not very happy with my answer... She said that the other hairdresser was inexperienced but she was doing the exact same thing: my hair was not completely dry when she started styling it... my hair felt very coarse and damaged from all the chemicals she put on it and it was just a disaster! She just did not seem like she wanted to style my hair! I said, let's leave it... After being there for over 6 hours at this point! I go to the counter and I say: "I guess I should have asked how much this would cost in advance, but knowing from my hairdresser, you only charge for the dye." She says: "Whatever it is, it's over now, we've done it... It's $300+ (before the tip)"!!!! I almost fainted! I just couldn't believe it!! I've been at really high-end hair salons and was NEVER EVER charged that much unless I was doing color and highlights and a cut and styling!! This was simply absurd! I just paid, gave her a generous tip and walked out and promised myself that I would never step foot in that salon ever again! 4 months later, I went to my hairdresser back home. It was a long process to fix those dark and orange spots! read more

They were really nice! Very personable. My hair is naturally curly/wavy, when you comb through curly/wavy hair to cut it, it gets poofy and looks bad. My stylist didn't even offer to straighten it, so I walked out of the salon looking like a lion, so I won't be returning. read more

I understand that every experience is unique. I hardly write reviews because I give people the benefit-of-the-doubt. With that said, I had a horrible experience with Kelli (or, Kelly) at this salon. She treated me like an inconvenience and a second class citizen by, (1) willing to pass me off to her colleague because my request for a shampoo conflicted with another appointment; (2) repeatedly looked at the time on her apple watch in order to hurry up my appointment for the next; (3) reading text messages (or again looking at the time) on her apple watch, which forced her hand holding the blow dryer to a level that blew my hair in multiple directions and into my face (this happened more than once); and (4) lazily and carelessly combing through my hair with a round brush attempting to give me blowout. This woman has her cosmetology license, yet blow-dries like a 4-year-old. I paid $60 for semi-dry, tangled hair that I immediately threw into a bun. While I'm sure there are some good hair stylists at The Parlor, I will not be going back to find out. When I say I just want a trim and still want my hair to be several inches below my shoulders, that does not mean I want the longest part barely brushing my shoulders. Also, it is not the style we discussed before she turned me away from the mirror and started cutting at all. And, who tells someone in their 20s that "it is going to make you looks so mature." Besides, it looks more like the haircut that I had when I was 5 than anything I've had in the past few years. read more
