It wasn't a great start. I had made an appt for 9am online. Which was an easy way to book. I hate calling. The girl I had an appt with was really late. So 40 minutes in the owner offered to take her place. She was awesome. So nice and did a great job! However, when I went to check out a younger girl called out a price for the girl checking me out which was $5-10 more than the appt I had booked stated. Which I am never happy when someone switches prices after the service is complete. A star for the girl checking me out-- she knew the online price and charged me that price. They don't have a nail dryer. I've never ever been to a nail place without dryers. Had no clue how important they are for drying. More than two hours after I left the appt (I stayed 20 minutes after) I took off my flip flops carefully but a huge smudge appeared. Wasn't even close to being dry. Yuck. Owner was nice. So...I know I needed pedicure bad. My little family & I were in town evacuating from hurricane Ida. We had been through a lot in the last 4 days with the storm hitting New Orleans less than 12 hours after we evacuated. I decided to treat myself & relax. Due to everything going on with the Covid-19 pandemic, I was looking for somewhere to get a full set of acrylic nails with gel done as my regular place wasn't open yet...well I should've just practiced patience. I thought she might just be a little out of practice but it honestly looked like she hadn't worked with acrylic a day in her life (I've been getting acrylics for 9-10 years). She kept reassuring me, so I went with it and waited for something to make it look better, but nothing. I had an appointment and although they didn't make me wait more than 15 mins to get started, my overall service took TWO HOURS. That is unheard of. I'm just happy I didn't have anywhere crucial I needed to be that day. In the end they came out uneven, bumpy, and thick...I'm so sad bc I had high hopes for this place and they seemed nice enough. The worst nail salon! I went in hoping to get a simple French tip nail SNS with gold tips I even showed a picture but when it was finished they looked horrible like someone had dipped my nails in sparkly Cheeto dust. The service was bad one of the workers had their child running around and banging on things and a horrible banging sounds coming from the upstairs part. I absolutely felt like they had no idea what they were doing it was an absolute Mess! No one was wearing a mask or even bothered to wear sanitary gloves! The lady who did my nails kept scraping her finger nails on my skin to get residue color off it was just overall unsanitary and messy. PLEASE do Not waste your money here! read more

My favorite place when I'm in town! I love coming here & having a relaxing experience with these ladies who've become like extended family. They've done my nails during major transitions in my life & I am so grateful for them. When I moved away to New Orleans to pursue life's passions, they gave me a mani/pedi worthy for going to the bayou. I needed a emergency pedi before heading to my aunt's funeral while I was in town. Everyone was always very friendly and accommodating, but my dip polish has chipped and/or peeled off within days of me getting my nails done both times. I've never had this happen with dip anywhere else. It was the only thing I tried there, so maybe the other services are better. These nails are only a little more than a week old. read more

I've definitely had a lot better of experiences. It's nice that they can accommodate large parties, but they're overpriced for the work they do. My "spa" pedicure was $30; i had an extremely short leg massage (MAYBE 2 minutes?) and the paint job was sloppy with paint all over my cuticles. The staff was not the friendliest and seemed to be bothered when you asked anything of them. When we were waiting around for our nails to dry at the drying area, (also waiting for the rest of our party to be done) the owner came over and ordered us to move because our nails were already dried. TLDR: Overpriced, sloppy work& southern hospitality is severely lacking. read more

This was one of the most interesting experiences I've had at a nail salon. I have never been in a dirtier nail salon in my life. The tools were rusty and my tech only used water to clean the tools in between clients. There was dust and dirt and nail polish everywhere. This being said, however my nails look fantastic. My tech did such an in-depth job and really took her time to make my nails look good. My great nails still don't make up for the condition of the salon though sadly. read more

I really want to like this place, but every time I come here I never leave satisfied. :( I had polish left over from last time, and they didn't remove the polish so I have remnants from a dark polish on the edges of my new gel. They try to accommodate for everyone, but during recruitment they really get overwhelmed. I would not recommend going there any time near recruitment week. read more

The WORST experience I have ever had at a nail salon. I had an appointment with a friend, we got to talking while we were in the pedicure chairs with our feet in the water, no one helped us for an hour. When someone finally came over they were rude and snarky. As if it was our fault they didn't help us for an hour. They cut my friend's finger, and PAINTED OVER THE BLOOD, used dirty towels with old nail polish that stained her hands and somehow managed to use a nail file on her wedding ring. Luckily I had to leave for a prior engagement, but a terrible job at a simple polish instead of a pedicure was $15. Needless to say I did not tip, and will NEVER be going back to this place. I have been here two times. The first time I got the spa deluxe manicure. She did a good job and was wonderful to talk to, but after leaving and going about my day I realized I had some streaks on my ankles from some of the masque that didn't get removed. Then also, less than a week later both my big toes chipped and all the paint came off. Still a good establishment. Went back to get my eyebrows done. They use toothbrushes instead of eyebrow brushes. Weird, but gets the job done. Would recommend but maybe try different techs. read more

the gel manicure I have recently recieved stuck to my nails like cement. As soon as I continued on with my daily activities (for example: doing my hair or moving books) I noticed that any small or accidental tugging at the paint ripped my nails off! I am typically a loyal customer to Pro Nails in Oxford MS, but when I was referred to The Nail Shop by a friend who claimed it was the best nail place in Oxford, I decided to give it a try. Safe to say I will never be returning. Honestly one of the worst manicures I've ever gotten that I paid $18 for, which might I add is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for the quality that I received. My hands were not soaked, moisturized, heated, or anything of that sort, and overall my nails just do not look great. Regarding the overall ambience and experience at the "salon", I felt like I was in the inside of a trailer receiving "spa services". HORRIBLE! Way overpriced for the work they do. I got a clear layer of dip with gel on top that was supposed to last "longer" and it started peeling 6 days later. I get dip at home with tips that lasts me a whole month and I'm very careful with my nails. Brandy get my cuticles on my toes and it was very painful. Worst service I have EVER had! I called the salon and booked an appointment, and a woman called me back and yelled at me for asking for her, which I did not do. I simply called the salon like any normal person would and booked an appointment by time. So this woman is absolutely flustered and continues to say "I just don't know why they would book you with me." So she finally offers to change my appointment from 3 to 6 and stay later. At 6 I get to the salon and the woman claims I didn't have an appointment. At this point I'm extremely irritated and show the woman where I called her. She takes me back and starts to work on my nails but still claims I did not call her. Halfway through cleaning my nails I have to switch people because one of the workers there doesn't know how to do acrylics, so I have to move all my stuff back to the front of the salon. After they finished I let them know I was not happy. This was last Friday, one week later and my gel manicure is already peeling off. Please spare your self and do not go to this place!
