I was staying here for the Meadows festival. I had booked this hotel through Expedia a few weeks back. I had checked the option of paying nothing until check in. Thursday early morning around 6 AM I received notice from my bank that I was charged a large amount. Upon checking, it was the hotel from what I assumed, half my stay. I called the hotel around 9, with no answer ( it just kept ringing, no voicemail). I called a few more times with the same thing and I started to worry. I called again at around 11 and this time a gentleman answered. He was kind and I told him I was worried since I received a charge from the hotel when nothing in my emails, expedia itinerary, nor on their website mention another charge before check in. He put me on hold and checked and told me that was a security deposit. I asked him how come that was not mentioned in any of the information prior to booking? He apologized and told me it is their policy. One day before the festival, i was not going to change my stay. He was kind so I hoped for the best. On the day of check in, they only had one staff member working. It took a while and this is why I assumed no one answered my phone call when I had called yesterday. After checking in, our room was roughly 84 degrees. They had left the air off and the room was humid and so hot. We turned it on and the air is by the bathroom with one vent. It would take a while for the room to cool down but luckily we had to head down to the festival.
Everything else was fine, until roughly about 2 AM. The room next to us, 209, had a few girls that started yelling at the top of their lungs and laughing. I dont know what they were throwing around either but it was loud. It woke us up and I tried reaching the front desk. Once again, no answer. I called again but no answer. At this point being tired and half asleep, it had quieted down to an occasional loud laugh. However, it would go back to yelling again. The same situation, no answer. After knocking a few times and this continued until 5 AM. Exhausted since I couldnt sleep, I received another notification from the bank about a charge. It was the hotel again. I called this time again since I was assured the rest would come back out at check out. The woman who answered was Kathy. She was not polite but I assumed since shes the only one employed at the time, to be frazzled. I tried my best to be kind to her because I felt bad. I explained I was concerned about my charges on my card since I was assured I wouldn't be charged until check out. She told answered me tersely and stated there were absolutely no charges on my card from the hotel. They havent charged anything ever. I explained how I spoke to a gentleman at front desk yesterday and thats what he had told me. I was worried and I asked if there is any other way to check with him? She just said no and tried to hang up on me. I found myself trying to be kind to her and said, I'm sorry, is there anyway to check. She told me to go downstairs and look at her screen. I told her I believe her that she does not see anything, but the problem is these charges nonetheless. I found myself trying to show her customer service and she was so rude. She told me either go downstairs or call Expedia. Expedia's customer service was very kind, and mind you, there was an overflow from hurricane Irma. I spoke to him and explained, and he said no expedia has no control over charges. The hotel charges. He then put me on hold and said he would call the hotel for me. He said he just spoke to someone who confirmed hotel charges. Since there was only 1 person working, I called Kathy and asked because I was confused since I just spoke to her. I may have been wrong, but I wanted to confirm everyone was on the same page just in case they spoke to a different person I wasn't aware of. She answered and said she checked on a different page and it showed they did charge. I asked her when I asked her to see any other options to see what may have happened, that she couldnt check this page. She said "We'll now I see it". I didn't want to argue with her and I thanked her anyway since there is no point in arguing with this person especially since I wont check out until Sunday.
I thanked my Expedia person and went to the festival. AGAIN, on Saturday night the same room this time woke us up at 5 AM full on screaming as if someone got murdered. It woke us wide awake and terrified. Then we heard laughing after we were going to check if everything was ok and they continued yelling. I called front desk about 8 x in a row. I got the same gentleman I spoke to on thursday morning. I was upset and told him that this room next to us are completely screaming and yelling. He knocked and told them they need to stop.
Monday, after check out, I receive another charge from the bank. It is the hotel charge again and now it is over the amount i booked for. I did not want to call since it was in pending. This pending charge did nto go away until THURSDAY. read more
