The minestrone soup was a really good light alternative, despite its more chunky texture. And it's even better with bread, as before. The tea was just tea, no more, no less. The late was the same, nor too, nor bad. The chamomile tea was delightful. It was very nice, and the taste couldn't have been better. The service was amazing. It was fast to the point, but not without friendly conversation. When we were ordering, the person that took our orders asked what book I was reading (it was in my hands), which I appreciated a lot. The ambiance was minimal. The had big windows to look out of and nice tables and chairs outside. That was really it for ambiance.

First: we had to wait 15 minutes, but were given a buzzer for when our table was ready--per the hostess, we were able to go as far as the grocery store in town. We didn't mind the wait, as it gave us time to pop into the tourist shop and buy postcards and stamps. The wait was worth it! I had a coffee, one of the best coffees I've ever had, and we sat enjoying the view of the mountains and the view of the pastries, piled in tantalizing piles on the far end of the shop. We each had a roll, mine w fried egg, bacon, and hash brown; hubby the same with sausage instead of bacon. The food was hot, fresh, and the ingredients locally sourced, and tasted so damn good. Every dish that made its way to neighboring tables looked ridiculously good too, and I kept saying I want to try that, and that, and that!! On our way out we bought a chocolate raspberry brownie and a macadamia bar, both items are rich and flavorful, and large enough that hubby and I have been enjoying them all day!! I seldom visit the same restaurant twice while on vacation, but while eating we both agreed that we're going back tomorrow for another amazing meal (and more pastries, I hope!!) before we had out of lovely Aviemore!

My wife and I came here after an exhausting weekend away with teenagers... we were a bit sceptic as to whether or not there was decent food in Aviemore. Don't get me wrong, we figured we would find some ok food, but didn't expect it to be this good. We were told that we would need to get there as early as possible because of the wait... and we were like, this is an outdoor shop's cafe, it couldn't be that good. Well it is THAT good. As I said, you will more than likely have to wait (got this advice from a local)... and you could end up waiting for at least half an hour as we did. We finally got seated and were impressed with the menu thinking that the food couldn't be as good as it seems on the menu. But it was THAT good. I had a red bean burger (if I'm correct) that was SOOO tasty. They make the burgers here (not frozen like veggie burgers at other places). It may have easily been one of the best veggie burgers I've had in Scotland. It came with chips, which I wish I could've had more of but wouldn't have had the room for. To top it off, I had a pot of Eteaket tea with Red Velvet cake. So... a lot of places in Scotland try to do a great Red Velvet cake and end up with an OK red velvet cake. Mountain Cafe did an excellent red velvet. Both moist and dense. Sweet and SOOO filling. In the end, my wife had to roll me out the door and down the stair sideways. I was super full with excellent food. It may have cost a bit more than I would've normally paid for lunch, drink and a cake... but seriously I didn't care. Why isn't Aviemore closer?

The three people that we encountered on our two visits were warm and welcoming, and brewed up some dang fine coffee! We stayed in on our first visit. We needed to waste a bit of time before meeting up for our Rabbie's day tour, and we wanted somewhere warm and comfortable to sit for a bit. They have a couch and a couple comfy chairs, as well as a couple of tables for one to lounge at. We settled in on the couch to enjoy our coffee. On our first visit, I got a cortado, knowing that the caffeine would help, and the small serving size wouldn't wreak havoc with my bladder (Rabbie's vans don't have bathrooms on board!) My husband ordered a latte, of course. Both drinks were expertly made and full of flavor. We were offered a bit of butter tablet, but we both declined this round. We got our drinks to go on our second visit (our last day in town). I went with a regular hot chocolate, and my husband got another latte. This time I did take the offered butter tablet, and I'm so glad I did. It somehow cut the sweetness of the cocoa...or maybe the cocoa cut the sweetness of the tablet. I don't know what it was, but they worked surprisingly well together! We'd definitely make it a point to stop in for warm caffeinated drinks if we're lucky enough to visit Inverness in the future.

I tried to call and ask for availability, but the woman on the phone did not offer much assistance. She did not offer any reservation options and was unwilling to help. Not sure how anyone is supposed to get a booking unless you know a local. Not very accommodating to travelers. Because of lack of accommodation, I would not recommend to try and make a stop here if you are visiting from out of town.

While they were out of many of them during our trip, we still thoroughly enjoyed the ones we had. The vegetarian haggis was surprisingly delicious. Having never tasted traditional haggis, this is not a comparison. We enjoyed the flavor and the consistency was a bit crumbly without being too mushy. The vegetarian pizza was solid, although a few too many vegetables included for my personal taste (I prefer pizza with two to three items). And the standard margherita pizza was a winner. The staff was friendly and the view from the deck was nice. If you're looking for a cute lunch stop tucked into the southern edge of the Highlands, Glencoe Cafe is a nice option as you travel through the rolling hills of Scotland.

**WARNING** This is a lengthy review and you WILL be hungry after reading!…read more Just outside Perth and a short detour from the A9 lies Tibbermore (I know, cute right!), a typical 'blink and you'll miss it' kinda place, but really, just don't blink cos this place is awesome! It really does have it all - fresh fruit and vegetables all leafy and colourful, a gin lovers corner, wonderful cheese and meats deli, health foods section including a variety a GF flours, breads and oatcakes (try their own oatcakes, completely different from the brand that sounds like Talkers but sooo much tastier!), tray upon tray of freshly laid eggs...I could go on but you get the idea! And that's just the food section! They also have a glorious gift section where I could've easily spent a small fortune. Everything from kitchen gadgets to picnic baskets, kiddie gifts to Emma Bridgewater pottery and everything in between. I spotted a few local producers too which I loved as I always like to see locals businesses supporting each other. Then there's the café/restaurant which has a few outdoor tables but plenty inside if they're taken; the day I visited it was glorious but somehow we got lucky and got a table outside (my shoulders can prove that #scottishtan!...). The menu has lots of tasty options incorporating as much of their own produce as possible - I opted for the Homemade Chicken Liver pate while my parents both had the Smoked Ayrshire Ham & Gloagburn Curried Banana Chutney sandwich (Dad went hunting for the ham to buy later he was that impressed!). Once decided, we had to go inside and order at the counter; I'm not sure if this was due to us sitting outside or standard practise as when we asked for a second round of coffees (and some more oatcakes for me as I'd ran out!), a waitress came over with one of those electronic hand-held thingys to take that order so I wondered why she couldn't have done that initially, anyway, not really a star-affecting issue. Pricewise, we were just shy of £10/head for a sandwich and coffee (exc our 2nd coffee round), a tad steep but it's all fresh and local produce so I don't mind paying that when you know you're getting good quality (and it really was!). Given it's out-the-way location it's a busy wee place but worth the trip as you could easily spend a couple of hours here eating and browsing. There's plenty parking available and even a small play area for kids. Farm Shops like this don't come around too often, which is a shame as they really are wee gems of places!

The only problem is you can't get a seat some times and have to walk to the other one 5 min away to see if that has a seat free! Henry's offers a great selection or hot and cold beverages and also has food which caters for most dietary needs. They carry a range of soya, gluten free, vegan etc. They are are also always willing to help cater for anything that's not listed. The majority of the staff are very welcoming (yes I'm a sucker for nice staff) and they also have free wifi which is always a bonus if you have an hour or so to kill. The coffees it's self are great tasting and when you ask for a large... you get a large and they also have a license for alchol, so if it's cold there happy to pop a cheeky wee tipple of whisky in there! There are two Henry's, theres one on the seagate with no outdoor seating and one, which is my favorite, at the main square which has outdoor seating. Right now there construction work however over the next months or so it will defo be my go to on a nice day in Dundee.... not that I need an excuse any more!
