I went with the Caesar salad, which was fresh and superb. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich with onion rings, and both were excellent. Everything came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress was fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and very flexible when we had a couple of special requests. Prices for the entrées seemed on the higher side for a small town, but there are plenty of soups, sandwiches, and other more affordable choices on the menu. Portions are generous and the quality is solid, so it feels like a fair value, especially if you're treating yourself for a special occasion. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily return.

I suppose proximity to the Va Creeper Trail encouraged this as I could see folk holding up a table whilst waiting would be a potential issue. We were seated promptly and given menus and served water and sodas. The rock music was pretty loud for the restaurant, which has some smaller rooms that are serviceable but cramped and a bit echoey and dark. By 12:35 our order was in and by 12:51 on our table. The table has a nice individual light, and a bottle of water on the table. Unlike some other local restaurants, soda refills are free and a pitcher was brought by the table to serve refills of diet coke. What was not good was the large beer poster of the St Paulie Girl with her nipples hanging out. I realize these are beer posters and I realize they are German and things are different there. But this was a prominently placed poster. I just wouldn't think a place where a lot of families dine would put this in such a prominent spot, or any spot really. I'm not a super prude, I just raised three sons. So the sandwich though, was very good.

Not sure if there's a lot available solely for this place. There's a dining room and a bar area. There's also a cute little lounge area next to the bar that would be a great space to catch up with friends or family and to be able to enjoy a cocktail while relaxing. This place is a vibe. Super cool decor and atmosphere. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We sat at the bar. We were greeted immediately and by a super friendly bartender named Zane. We ordered a rosemary cosmo, bacon washed old fashion, Mexican beer on tap (can't remember the name - see pic for name on the actual skull tap), and a drink that wasn't on the menu, but they have had before (we were with a local who knows this place well). All drinks were lovely. The rosemary cosmo wasn't sweet and had just the perfect hint of rosemary. The bacon washed old fashion is highly recommended. We didn't eat here, but they do have some tasty looking dishes. Guest at the bar ordered apps and then a steak that wasn't absolutely massive! Overall a great place to perch and have a terrific time. Very attentive and friendly staff. They have an extensive wine selection, as well as a well stocked bar.

I'm really glad that I made an effort to make this happen because it was an excellent experience. We walked into a sign that said half price wine bottles. Ordered a bottle of rosé that ended up being one of the best ones I've ever had. We tried the boa buns on appetizers and WOAH. So good!! I had a sushi special for the evening that was delicious and my sister had the Mongolian beef, which was also very good and a huge serving. Dessert to top it off was a lemon sorbet. Waitress was excellent, bartender was sweet and brought us our drinks and the inside ambience, including the music was spot on. Just all in all great experience and I would recommend to anyone.

The coffee we had was very good- latte and flat white. They had run out of cold brew. Cinnamon bun was very sweet but good. The food was definitely the highlight, and I'll be back to try some of the other menu items. The service, however, could use a little improvement. Our server took a while to come over, and there were several moments where she seemed unsure about the menu. The sign at the door and the menu both said to ask about the grilled cheese of the day. When I asked, she responded in a very perplexed tone, "Umm, I think it's..." -- which was a little surprising since it was already 1 p.m. When she told me what it was, I realized it had meat. I even said, "Oh darn, it has meat on it," since I'm vegetarian, and she just replied, "Yeah." I noticed later that the menu says many items can be modified for vegan and gluten-free diets, so it would have been nice if she had mentioned that the grilled cheese could potentially be customized. I also asked what the soup was, and again she had to stop and think before saying, "I believe it's..." The name/description was unusual, so when we asked her to repeat it, she didn't really explain what it was. I'm still not entirely sure what the soup actually was. I was a server for years, and I completely understand not knowing every little thing, but knowing the daily specials and being able to describe them is pretty important. There was also some confusion about the breakfast menu. I was surprised to learn that grits are available after 11 a.m. on Saturdays. I asked if breakfast was served all day and specifically mentioned that I knew gravy and grits weren't available after 11 based on the menu. She then told me that on Saturdays they are available, which seems like something that could probably be clarified on the menu. Overall, the service wasn't bad, it just felt like it was lacking a little energy and attentiveness. We were never offered or given a refill on our sodas either. That said, the food was DELICIOUS, and the atmosphere is really cute and relaxing. I definitely plan to come back and try more of the menu. Hopefully the service was just an off day, because this little restaurant has a lot going for it!
