For comparison, this class was mostly SUP focused and no yoga (except a couple downward dogs), where as Toronto Island SUP incoroprated a 30 mins. yoga session. Supgirlz does offer yoga and pilates classes on the board, but if it's your first time with them, you have to book the intro class (90 mins.). The location at Kew Balmy Beach is perfect! You are accessible by transit, but still feel miles away from downtown. The vibe is really peaceful and I lucked out on the day I went as the waters were calm. Meet at the actual address (it's a house on the corner of Hubbard and Maclean). That's where you will have your belongings stored safely, meet up with the group, etc. A couple people were wandering on the beach looking for us -- it can be a bit confusing! Janna was the instructor. She gave clear instructions and oriented us to the boards before going on the water. We had a brief lesson, learning the basics. Then we had an opportunity to pose for some group and individual photos (which they prompty sent to us by email). Then there was about 30 mins. at the end to paddle on your own. They have a variety of boards - hard, foam, inflatable. All in all, this was a really fun activity to do with friends. Nothing says summer like SUP! They even gave us Lara bars at the end of class as a little treat:) Notes: - There are no washrooms at Supgirlz (you would need to use the public ones on the beach, or walk up to Queen St.). - Despite the name, all classes are co-ed!! - Booking is easily done via MindBodyApp - weekend classes fill up, so best to book your board in advance

I booked our Friday evening lesson online with no issues. The lesson is based out of Kew Balmy Beach; we were instructed to meet by a park bench and our instructor showed up early to bring out the boards from a place nearby and to set up. The first-timer lesson started with basic verbal instruction on dry land, then we proceeded onto the water. After the quick on-water lesson, we had free time to play around on our own. They also have sup yoga, socials, etc. Overall, a good place to try SUPing.

I unreservedly recommend and will be using this as my local store. I came for a prescription mask and snorkel prior to my Caribbean trip but the friendly and passionate staff ended up re-igniting my long lost diving addiction. We left the store after signing up for a PADI refresher course. A couple of weeks later we turned up as arranged, fitted out with equipment and headed off for a thoroughly enjoyable refresher at the Etobicoke Olympium pool. Friendly, encouraging and professional staff throughout. 45 minutes later, all safety drills and techniques refreshed and 2 fully prepared divers ready for the Caribbean trip. Not only is the owner Mark professional and friendly, but all the staff are an example of the community of diving. Passionate and professional, knowledgeable and friendly. A special super loud shout out to Peter...the reason that 2 lapsed divers got back beneath the water. I'll attach a picture from our trip...without Aquarius we would never have gone more than a meter down!

Our original reservation was for 5:30, but I got stuck at work. The staff pushed back our reservation til 7:00 without a problem. They made sure we had all the safety instructions and that we still got our full 90 minutes on the water. A very pleasant customer service experience. The boat itself was a clattering old thing, but it worked fine. We couldn't go very fast, but that was probably for the best as my partner had never driven a boat before. It was a beautiful summer week night, and the lake was full of sailboats, tall ships, kayaks, canoes, paddle-boarders and even planes overhead. It felt like being in a busy city park like Christie Pits or Trinity Bellwoods, but so much more beautiful. We brought burritos and soda with us and had a little water picnic in a hidden nook by the Island, and then we watched the sun go down behind the city skyline. One of the best dates I've ever been on and a thoroughly relaxing experience. I plan to go back and get a bigger boat to cruise around with some girlfriends.

I'm not sure why I keep coming back here, if it wasn't for my little nephew, I wouldn't. The boats are crap and not well maintained. Slow speed I can understand but I have yet to sit in one of their F13 motor boats that didn't want to, or that didn't die in the middle of the lake. Last time I rented for an hour, they had to come and get me because they didn't put enough gas. Not bad if everything is working fine but take your cell phone with you in case you get stuck in the middle of the lake! Positive: If you don't have one, you don't require a boating license.

I've been twice this summer - early June in the evening and mid July for 9 AM kayaking. I enjoyed the early morning peace and tranquillity. Getting in and especially out of the kayak is challenging. It would be great to have a pole or chair to grab onto to pull yourself up and out. I signed up for Beginner's Acrobatics with about 6 weeks left in the session, and from the first class I loved it. Each class has a maximum of six students per instructor, which is a great ratio. And for something so specialized and with such small classes, the price is great - only about $15 per class. The main draw for me though is that it's fun, and it's a great workout that's over before you know it. The hour goes by so quickly, because you enjoy what you're doing, rather than running on a treadmill watching the minutes tick by. It's also rewarding because you can easily measure the difference between where you were at the beginning and where you are now. The first time I felt like my cartwheel didn't look like a drunken four year old was an amazing feeling. As was the first time I managed to balance on just my head and my hands. Heather is a great instructor and she really helps by breaking down each move. Sure, I can't do a handstand yet, but I'm working on building the muscle, balance and confidence to ensure that I'll probably be able to in the winter session. All in all, they're a great workout class that I just love and I can't wait for the winter session to begin!
