FUN FINDS! A friend had clued me in that the city of SC has really good thrifting, and this was the very first store we checked out. Groovy items! I can't believe what a delightful pair of jeans I scored for under $20 = a big wow! Also, the guy who seemed like the owner was extremely helpful on directing us to the next "row" of thrift shops, closer to the corner convenience store. We appreciated his helpfulness, but honestly, his shop had the best novelty items and fun finds. I thought I overheard him saying that they are selective about inventory and they hand pick what comes in. It shows. Lived the selection, loved the prices. Will definitely return. read more

Pros: the owner is lovely and very social! she was very warm, and greeted each guest with smiles and chit chat. You don't come across many stores these days where the people behind the counter genuinely want to connect with those who walk through the front door. Cons: the store is pretty quaint. Larger items in the front, with 2-3 big women's clothing racks in the back. Was bummed to see they didn't really have a men's section but my girlfriend was more than happy lol. Pretty much the most super awesome thrift store ever!!! Organized, clean and tidy with a nice selection of vintage and modern clothing. Though its a small space, I spent almost an hour browsing through the racks. Scored a Hilo Hattie dress (vintage print turquoise blue and purple, matching belt, white denim stretchy capris, light wash lucky brand jeans shorts, adorable white pearl accent cardigan and retro embroidered off-white cardigan! Didn't expect to find so much and just had to get it all as the prices are so reasonable. Also had a great time talking story with the owner, Lisa. She's been in business for 18 years and I can see why. She is welcoming and kind with a keen sense of style. Love to support local businesses? Most vintage stores around here are either hit or miss, but Pac-Rat seems to be consistently good. Compared to other vintage stores, Pac-Rat is more selective about the items that they sell. The first time I visited that store, I bought some hard to find 1:18 scale models of classic cars. The second time I visited, I bought a leopard print snowboard. I'm not sure if it performs well, but it does make for some good wall art. The last time I visited, I got some really cool long sleeve vintage shirts. If you wander around this store long enough, you will probably end up buying something that you didn't know you needed. The owners are super friendly and very knowledgable. They have the best eclectic choices of merchandise you'll find; from vintage furniture pieces to surfboards or beautiful art pieces. They have everything from the most adorable, & unique designer clothing pieces, to quirky, vintage pieces you won't find anywhere else. This place is a great alternative to the nasty La Tienda down the street. While it's a small shop, the racks are stocked with vintage and newer pieces in various sizes for both men and women. The store is clean and the clothes are organized by style (shirts, skirts, pants, etc.). The best part of the place is the customer service. When I went in the owner (at least I think she was the owner) let me know that she would be very willing to work with the prices. I walked out of there with a super cute, vintage, plaid Liz Claiborn dress for only $10...it was marked at $13 or $14. It's only a few bucks, but her cheerful attitude will definitely bring me back. I also noticed some used surfboards, if you're into that. This place is definitely worth a look if you're in the area, but it's a tad to small to be destination that sends you out of your way. read more

Cute little place in San Clemente. Really friendly people and great bargains. It's in a cute little Old City Plaza. The jail used to be in the plaza according to the owner. I used to live in San Clemente so it's always nice to visit my old "hood". Not too clausto like some thrift or second hand stores. Found an outdoor table for $5.00. What a bargain! read more

Great place! Lots of wacky, crazy, cool, amazing finds. It's like a literal treasure hunt there. I found a beautiful dress to wear to a wedding (not a wedding dress, of course) and a cute piggy bank from Germany. The prices are a little high, but of course EVERYTHING is 50% off all the time. haha You can wheel and deal; the owners are cool & love to talk. Always something interesting in there.
