My daughter has always had quite the temperament and a fiery personality to boot, so if you combine that with general discomfort, possible reflux, and a dairy allergy, you get a confused and tired mom--cue me. I was struggling for 7 months, until I saw some suggestions to look for a chiropractor. I did some research but I was still a bit apprehensive, so I kept looking over and over for a decent chiropractor who specializes with children. I found Dr. Kate Wong and gave her a call, and the rest is history. First thing, how awesome is it that she does house calls? That's the first I've seen for a chiropractor. She was very patient and interactive with my daughter, who has a little bit of "stranger danger" instincts that made some of her appointments a tad difficult. But my daughter would surely but slowly settle into her appointments, and I just regret not being able to have them a lot more often. The few appointments we had really helped our daughter. Believe me, I would have loved to follow the treatment plan to the T, because those appointments really helped my daughter relax and not be so angry and stiff. I could literally feel the difference in holding her after the appointments. Dr. Kate Wong was very flexible and worked with our schedule. She also understood we couldn't do too much because of our budget. Dr. Kate Wong also responded very quickly to any questions or concerns I had regarding my daughter and her health. I also appreciate the small, thoughtful gifts she sent to me, such as some organic nettle tea bags (and a recipe, which was delicious) and small samplings of natural tumeric bars for breastfeeding moms. She's also very knowledgeable on different holistic things, current events, and other referrals. Overall, she's a wonderful and thoughtful chiropractor. We've since moved out of the area, but I really wish she could service all over California!

I loved reading about Shannon's journey to Islam and birth work, and how her faith and spirituality intertwined with her midwifery care. I also enjoyed reading the compelling birth stories and the beautiful way in which she writes about birth. I especially felt connected to her book as a Muslim woman who was curious about homebirth, but wasn't sure if it was for me. Once I finished the book and had my first appointment with Shannon I felt confident, reassured, and excited about having a homebirth for my first baby. Since the start of my prenatal care with Shannon, I felt so comforted by the amount of time and personalized care she dedicated to us by listening to our concerns, answering our many questions, and providing the guidance we needed during this special time in our life. Her level of knowledge and expertise combined with her warm and comforting presence brought us ease during such a delicate time. I also have the same great things to say about Tara who was the second midwife to be present at the birth and meet with us for the postpartum appointments. Tara also has such a warm, beautiful, and comforting spirit and has been such a pleasure to meet with. What I especially appreciated was how personalized her guidance was. Our twins have had different feeding journeys since birth, and Chelsea truly listened and met each baby (and me!) where we were without judgment or a one-size-fits-all approach. Her expertise made such a meaningful difference for all of us. She suggested transitioning to a different bottle when the twins were eating very slowly and tiring themselves out before finishing feeds, and the new bottles were an absolute game changer. I would 1000% recommend doing one-on-one training sessions--it's the best money I've ever spent on myself. Thanks to our workouts, I had an incredibly easy delivery and post-partum recovery. Tal radiates positive energy! She kept me smiling, fit, motivated, and--most importantly--SAFE throughout my pregnancy. Her workouts were not only fun but also incorporate many moves that can actually be used during labor. She was always in-tune to my needs and would adapt her routines--even mid-workout--to make sure I was safe and pain-free. I also loved that she emphasized important foundations (e.g. proper breathing technique, connecting breath to core and pelvic floor, safe ways to get in/out of bed, ways to avoid diastasis recti, etc). I continue to use those skills daily. Not only is Tal a mama herself, she has years of experience as a specialized prenatal/post-partum personal trainer. She even stays up-to-date with ACOG recommendations and takes refresher maternal health courses. As a physician, I was impressed with the depth of her knowledge. They don't do 20 week ultrasound at this department. I'm not 22 weeks pregnant and they only check my blood pressure, baby checks are done with a Doppler like you can buy on Amazon.... Doctors send out referrals with no follow up. I will never return to this OBGYN office. Worst care ever. Office check ups are rushed and they don't seem to care about their patients

We live in Oakley and my pregnancies have been high risk where I need lots of monitoring. I was coming biweekly while also getting biweekly scans at DVP. So having a location close to home cut down my trips to Walnut Creek. All the staff and doctors have been so amazing in our journey with our last miracle baby. Dr Hughes delivered our boy via C-section. It was a great experience even though our boy had complications. I did develop a reaction to the surgical glue that resulted in an infection, but I was well taken care of by dr. Hughes.
