The Red Balloon Toy Store - Cool little kid play center to keep the little ones occupied while you get the goods!

This is a great toy store. Tons of variety and everything fun under the sun. I like the little…read moreplay center right in the front of the store that can keep the kids occupied playing with toys while one parent sneaks back and picks up the goods. Friendly helpful staff. Obviously, this isn't a big box store, so prices are a little higher. The spectrum of toys more than makes up for the higher prices, in my opinion. Lots of "old school" toys, like their awesome marbles section, and plenty of new age educational toys as well. Indoors...outdoors...board games, puzzles, books...they've got it covered!

They have a little bit of everything here, but they especially stock a lot of puzzles, games, Beanie Babies, quality animal figurines from companies like Schleich, along with a healthy selection of marbles. They don't carry many dolls or action figures, and are thin on plush toys. I was hoping to find some Uglydolls, and carrying some vinyl collectible toys would be nice for us older kids. Service is friendly and helpful. The store could be more kid-friendly, with more kid-centric decor, maybe a fun mural, kid colors..more character. I can tell the owners are a bit anal-retentive here, with a dozen plus signs around the animal figurines that say not to play with the toys. How about just letting kids be kids? Or make a designated Kid Zone with a bunch of sample toys to play with. It feels a bit like a library, like I should whisper, probably due mostly to lack of customers and no background noise. While it's nice having a locally owned toy store, Red Balloon is geared toward an adult clientele. They really need someone to come in and help them redesign the place with kids in mind. FAO Schwarz it is not.

They have a fantastic toys and collectibles section that has toys that you don't see at Walmart or other department stores. (Stuff for babies, stuff for young kids and older kids!) Their game/puzzle section is legendary, there are so many board games, card games, and other types of games for any time of situation. Upstairs they have probably a million puzzles that will satisfy beginners or puzzle fanatics alike. They have a great section for school music: band, orchestra or even piano lesson materials. They even have lessons if your kids need them. The basement is my favorite: Main Street Guitars. They have top quality gear that costs thousands and mid and lower tier equipment that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The staff at the guitar shop are very helpful and kind. Finally, this place charges more than Walmart for toys and books, yes, but the more we can shop at places like the Book Table the more we can support local owners and workers and keep these rad establishments open. 10/10 will be shopping here more when I need a toy for my kid or need to secretly buy a sweet guitar without my wife knowing (jk or am I?)

If the book table employed employees like the people at the front, I would recommend this place. The employee at the "candy part" of the store was so engrossed with talking with her family/friend that she didn't even recognize there was somebody there wanting to buy something? I only had it limited in the amount of time because I wanted to get something for someone and I only had a few minutes to get something and run it over to them. After about 510 minutes of the employee talking to their friends/family member they gave each other a hug and the ones that I hope things go better for you or something like that. The employee asked me if there was something that they could do and I said not anymore. the time was spent. I wanted something earlier. Plus, part of their store had mold in it. Could tell that water had fallen through and landed on the carpet. I could not even look at that section of the bookstore because of the mold.

I don't care what industry expert Tony Koester says. Something ain't right. If you had confidence in your product, if you believed it worked, you would help me instead of blaming me. Really. Karl Saturday, February 20, 2016 4:51 PM Here's the situation: A dealer asked me to rate Bullfrog Snot behind an unsatisfied customer who returned it. I tried it on an a poor pulling O gauge engine of mine. I had a lot of trouble getting Bullfrog Snot to spread on to the wheels like the online video shows. I thinned some with water and successfully got it to spread on to the wheels. The next day the wheels felt promisingly grippy. But, traction was not even slightly improved when the engine was placed on the track. The only change in performance was because wheels were electrically insulated from the rails which caused the engine to run poorly. I figured I must be doing something wrong, so I wrote the company an email. I received a curt response which told me to read the instruction sheet. I looked over the instructions that came with the jar and there is no mention of thinning. I checked the Bullfrog Snot website where there is mention of thinning with water, so I guess I did it right. Since the company is apparently unwilling to try to help me figure it out, I am now prepared to confidently recommend against the tiny and ridiculously overpriced jar of failed promises. Karl Ask A Question: Karl Abbott One of our local train stores, Almosta Junction, gave me a jar because it had been returned by an unhappy customer. The customer complained he couldn't get it to go on evenly. I watched your videos and tried it. The jar I have is too thick. It's like almost dried paint. It does not go on smoothly like in the videos. Is there any way to thin this stuff? The directions say it can be cleaned up with water. I tried thinning a small sample with water. It seemed to go on similar to the videos. As I'm waiting for it to dry, it seems the water isn't working well. It has a tendency to bead up, kind of like water on waxed car. v/r, Karl Please remove me On Feb 20, 2016, at 3:42 PM, BULLFROG wrote: Please read the instruction sheet Sent: Saturday, February 20, 2016 1:33 PM Subject: Re: Ask a question at our store My question is can it be thinned? They greeted me like an old friend, walked me through their outstanding selection of new and used sets, and seemed genuinely excited about helping me find exactly what I didn't even know I needed. Now let's talk used inventory: Immaculate doesn't even begin to describe the used set I bought. I've seen brand-new boxes from big-box stores with more wear than this beauty. And as if that wasn't enough, when they heard I was from out of town, they shipped my purchase to me -- for free. Who does that? Legends, that's who. The prices? So reasonable and down-to-earth, I almost asked if they were running a kindness experiment. Seriously, if I lived in Ogden, my wallet and I would be in trouble -- I'd be at Bungster's Brix weekly feeding my Lego obsession with zero regrets. Of all the local Lego vendors I've visited (and that list is longer than I care to admit), this one is the gold standard. Bungster's Brix isn't just a store -- it's a magical little bricktopia!
