Don't hesitate! Alex is a mechanic you can count on. He's honest, punctual, and does what he says…read morehe's going to do. We have hired him for two repairs so far. The first was to troubleshoot and fix our boat's steering mechanism that a previous mechanic failed to be able to do. And most recently (June 2, 2022) he did a full service on our Yamaha 225 (4 stroke) outboard engine. He did an oil & filter change, replaced our fuel/water separator & spark plugs. He also noticed that our starter was dragging, which had caused our batteries to fail while out on the water the week before. He called the supply house (on speaker phone) so we could hear the full conversation about the cost of the part. He does not "up-charge" for parts! He picked up the parts the next morning and completed the repair as he said he would. In a sea (no pun intended) of crooks & dishonest individuals, Alex is the boat mechanic you are looking for.

I called Mike and let him know one of his crew was sleeping on my boat. No apology. A few days later I went to use the boat and noticed that it would not start. I checked the helm and noticed there were several switches in the on position including the bilge. The starboard and house batteries are bridged and were both dead from the bilge running constantly for days. I called my mechanic and he tested the batteries and they were deemed bad and could not be recharged. Ok, I ordered new batteries at a cost of $299.98 plus tax and installation. I told Mike that the switches were left on and I had to order new batteries. He said they would take care of anything that they did wrong. The invoice was $500 so I text him him and say I had to buy new batteries because your crew left the switches on so let's just call it even...even though my cost was about $200 more than his clean and wax. No dice, he said I pay him or he will put a lien on the boat. A lien..are you kidding. So, I paid him the $500 and now I write this review. Beware.

He quickly diagnosed the problem, got the engine raised, and even assisted me in ordering the necessary parts. He's a one-man operation, so response times can vary, but what he lacks in size he makes up for in honesty, knowledge, and dedication to his customers. It's hard to find someone this trustworthy in the marine repair business. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and honest boat repair service.

I recommend Ricardo to work on anything on one's boat as his knowledge of boats, engines,…read moreelectrical and plumbing systems is vast! I am not aware of anything he can't repair. Ricardo is an unassuming, modest but highly intelligent person who quietly listens to one's issues with the boat, engine or systems and then just goes to work confirming what one intuits he already knows is the problem and how to fix it? I wish I had called him to work on my boat sooner as instead, I called some else (I previously posted a review about that "mechanic"), who not only clearly is not as astute when it comes to outboard engines but boats' systems and unlike Ricardo, charges abusively for his sloppy services. Ricardo shows up on time but if he expects to be detained by some other job, has the courtesy to call the customer to alert him/her he's delayed. Unlike the other guy, he does not dress with a monogram uniform as he allows his work speak for him, not a uniform. I have owned sail and motor boats from 23' to 46' for 50 years (yes, I am 75 years old as the other guy for some reason, saw fit to point out in response to my review) and have taken multiple boating courses, inclusive of outboard engine repair. Over the years I have used the services of multiple boat yards, electricians and mechanics. Ricardo stands out way above any one else who has worked on my boats! I enthusiastically recommend him to boating friends and family without reservation!

While searching for a team to transform my interior of my Maserati, I visited/interviewed many shops in Florida. The honest ones refused to submit a quote. By their own admission, the job I needed done was detailed and they did not feel "qualified" or "up to" the task. To be completely honest, some did not even know how to spell Maserati GranTurismo. I really thought I was at a dead end until I happened to find Bahamas Upholstery & Marine Canvas' website. When I was viewing their photo gallery, I was surprised to see photos of Maseratis. With nothing to lose, I gave them a call. Within minutes of speaking to William (the owner), I knew his company was going to do the job. He mentioned items about my car that only a seasoned craftsman with extensive Maserati knowledge would know. Since I lived 4 hours away from the shop, I sent him photos of my interior. Within a day he followed up with a phone call to iron out some details. He provided a realistic quote and a sincere commitment to my 100% satisfaction. Early the next week, I drove my car to his shop in Miami. While driving, I was concerned that once he saw the car, the price would increase. That was not the case. The transformation should have taken at least 8 weeks. William's entire team worked on the car day, night and weekends. The process lasted four weeks (one week sooner than originally quoted) William was in constant communication. Every few days I would get updated videos and phone calls. I would get text messages and videos as late as 10PM. It was truly a collaborative effort. It was a give and take of ideas with several important elements; my complete and total satisfaction and happiness. So today I picked up my GranTurismo and it was a jaw dropping moment. My Maserati has NEVER looked so great!!! I am sincerely indebted to William and his team who worked on my car at Bahamas Upholstery & Marine Canvas. Their attention to detail was amazing. My car looks better than when it rolled off the assembly in Modena Italy. The team at Bahamas Upholstery & Marine Canvas are true artists and perfectionists. So if you look up perfection, dedication and attention to detail in a dictionary; you will see a picture of Bahamas Upholstery & Marine Canvas.
