This was once a place I regularly recommended, which makes its recent decline particularly disappointing. While the specials remain one of the few bright spots, the broader experience is less than impressive. The kitchen was notably slow, the pizza arrived with a burnt bottom crust, and service is inconsistent. Most concerning is management's response to a routine question regarding a service charge... rather than addressing it professionally, the matter was handled with unnecessary hostility and followed by an inappropriate private message. A restaurant's leadership sets the tone for the entire operation, and based on recent experiences, that tone appears to be contributing to the establishment's downward trajectory. Sadly will no longer be giving Romas any of our business. We called to ask about their menus and order a few pizzas for delivery. They dont deliver and use door dash which is fine. So we spent the time to order online and got it done , paid and confirmed. 30 min later @ the delivery time we were notified that Romas cancelled our order because they were too busy. Now, I'm not sure why they didn't tell us on the phone that they couldn't take our order and why it was confirmed and then canceled. We had a house full of family doing a move into a new house. Waited the 30 min and have no food . Unfortunately, business that have no concern for their paying customers.... I won't support. They dough was so tasty, not too thick, soft hot and just the right saltiness and buttery flavor. Generous cheese and pepperoni on the inside. I have been coming to Roma since I was a kid. I cant tell you all of the experiences I've had inside those walls, from bazooka maragritas to pizza and Carolis, I have great times at Roma. I even wrote a wedding toast at Roma after college. It has been well over a year since that last time I went to Roma and after 2.5 hours of waiting for our food, I remembered why. As much as I love the Downtown location, this places is not run well. It was too busy for the kids woking to keep up with. I was taking my whole family here for dinner, from my grandmother, parents, brother, boyfriend and a kid. We came early enough to get a table without waiting and the first round of drinks and the appitizer came out quickly. It all went down from there. My parents and grandmother both ordered the chicken parm, My brother and I Carolis, My boyfriend the meaball sandwich and the child had spaghetti. To be candid, after 2 hours of waiting for food, My parents were over it and asked for theirs to be boxed up so they could leave. It still took 30 mins for that to happen. The carolis were amazing as usual. The meatball sadwich didnt come with any sauce so my boyfriend took most of my carolis sauce. If you order the sandwich, get a side of spaghetti sauce. The staff forgot to bring us forks, extra plates for the appitizer, napkins, drink refills or anything else that would make this a positive dining experience. Thank goodness we could see where the plates and silverware were to just get our own. They did take some of the drinks off our bill but it was nowhere near enough for the overall dining experience. I'm a huge pizza eater and I had high hopes for romas pizza but they fell flat. If you want a decent pizza go to parry's and stay clear of this place. It's also mildly infuriating that they list things on the menu but then don't bother to keep the ingredients in stock. When I was in the mood for a BBQ Brisket Caroli, I'd convince the whole family, and then they somehow are out of Brisket, so the whole reason for going is gone. Brisket is not a rare commodity in any way. Today I ran into the same issue with a Corned Beef Brisket Caroli. They say they don't have cabbage?! Again, cabbage is not in short supply. Either take it off the menu or keep ingredients in stock. Why is false advertising suddenly OK?! For takeout, I recommend avoiding this location completely and go to the other locations. Seemed really understaffed. Ordered two salads, a veggie pizza, and an appetizer. Our appetizer didn't come until the rest of our meals did, which took a very long time! Forgot dressings for salads, forgot to put meat in the salads, and gave us the complete wrong pizza. Didn't put any toppings on it and didn't put sauce on it. Very strange. After talking to our waiter we were able to get another correct pizza, but not for 20-30 minutes. We were also not offered refills until after finishing our meals. Went to UNC - this place was awesome back in 1990 - best pizza - $3 bazooka drinks. Loved it. Wind the clock on 30 years ... driving the next generation cross country and had to stop at Roma. It meant a 15 hour day (and an hour out of way) - but it was totally worth it! It is just as great as ever. Still in love with Roma pizza (Manuel's Favorite) after all these years! Who was Manuel anyway? We finally made it to town well after closing and sled if they could save a pizza for us ... they said: how about we just stay open for you? (An extra hour and a half!). If I could do 0 stars I would. I am starting off with the fact that their floor manager Athena, had the WORST custom service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Her alone makes me never want to go back to that place. She has cussed at me as a customer, been extremely rude to my mother and grandparents and I know numerous people that have had many issues with her. I am not sure why she still works there because I also know of Roma employees that have quit because of her. We came into the restaurant with our families and she told another table we happened to be friends with "please take this table from them, it'll save my a**". Very disappointing visit to Romas--one of my favorite college hangouts during the early 90's. We were celebrating our daughters nursing school graduation and ordered six pizzas and two orders of chicken wings to go. We were told our wait would be 35 minutes and upon running some errands came back 30 minutes later and ended up waiting another hour. None of the pizzas were even ready and they put the wings in the oven as we arrived to pick up the order. Since we had many grandparents who needed to eat on schedule after an hour and a half of waiting took the pizzas home and then returned again to pick up the wings. We still ended up waiting another 30 mins upon our second pick up attempt. The staff kept apologizing for our wait but never offered to make anything right--no discount, no drink as we waited for almost 2 hours, no coupon, nothing. Once we got home with the wings they were completely raw and inedible and had to throw them away. Sadly, we won't be going back to Roma's anytime soon--disappointing from what they used to be. read more
