Both wee man and I get these cravings for a Sammy Sandwich, which is really the T-Bast (Turkey,…read moreBacon, avocado,Swiss cheese and tomato). The food here is delicious. No. Really. Delicious. Tucked back off of Main Street, next door to the Main Event. You might actually miss it, but locals know and this place gets packed. For years never realized it was a lunch place. I started with the Pastrami, then the Rueben. I couldn't believe they were even listed. New York would be proud. Next I discovered the T Bast, I was kinda hooked. Reminds me of California.... Served with either home made chips or potato salad....and both delicious. Lucky for me, Sam Castalano forced me to try specials. Sandwich and Salads specials are featured for 3 weeks and a daily special. I've had the crab soup, a tamale soup, the Uptown Shrimp PoBoy and countless others. Yep, all delicious. To comment on another reviewer regarding the styrofoam containers, at first I was suspect too. The reality is that this restaurant serves a downtown community and 99% of the guests are on their lunch breaks. Today I really took notice and just a few threw their containers out, the rest took portions with them. The portions are large and I too, usually take half my sandwich home. Time to go now.....I'm already dreaming about the next TBAST....and you will too, I promise

When I arrived to pick up my order I was told they didn't have some items. About $8 worth. I asked for a substitute (cake instead of brownies) I was told no that they couldn't that and I had to take it up with Menufy. I messaged Menufy and they told me they would work on my behalf to get the refund from Castalano's! Turns out Castalano's was responsible for the refund! Now if I lived there, going and bugging the manager for my $8 wouldn't be a big deal but I was on day 19 of a 20 day road trip! I was just passing through and wanted one of their muffuletta sandwiches (which was amazing btw). The service was curt and rude, the lady behind the counter couldn't be bothered.

That's the same thing my uncle wanted to know when I mentioned it. I did, in fact, get the Tropical Salad with chicken based on the recommendation of the waitress. Apparently it's one of the most popular menu items and for good reason. It's sweet and savory at the same time with mixed greens, strawberries, mandarin oranges and pineapples topped with walnuts, cheese and grilled chicken. It comes with their in house made poppyseed dressing. So. Freaking. Good. The space is nice and casual with lots of outdoor seating options and they also do catering. When I'm in Houma again I'll be back to try more of their menu. In the meantime I'll be thinking of that salad!

They do have plenty of seating to dine in though. I think it was like $40 for a club sandwich, buffalo chicken sandwich, and 2 of the loaded fry appetizers. The bayou loaded fries (roast beef n gravy, cheese, etc.) are very good. Fries and fried perfect, roast beef and gravy is very tasty. I will continue to get this each time. The buffalo chicken sandwich was also incredible. Nice n big piece of real chicken tossed in a very tasty buffalo sauce, dressed, very sloppy also, very enjoyable. Girlfriend said the club sandwich was also really good, and a large serving for the price. Workers were really nice as well. Overall I would recommend to anyone, as it's a location that can be easily passed up. You do not get to Thibodaux, Louisiana by accident. You have to WANT to actually get there. And…read moreeven then it may not necessarily be easy unless you pay attention to where the hell you are going. Especially if there is a bridge out somewheres and you gotta reroute the way you have to go. For the uninitiated Louisiana is a state. But I would also say it is a different country too. But that ain't a bad thing at all. Unless you end up on the wrong side of somebody you happen to piss off severely. This is not the case with your ole Yelp buddy Madman. Madman has friends and makes friends wherever he goes. Yes. Yes he does. Ya gotta be down with the peeps. You must talk with them, laugh with them, drink with them, and have sex with them too if this is what they want. Don't be a snob. Don't think you are better than anybody else. Everybody has got something they can teach to you. Including but not limited to sexual positions. ALAS! I digress! (I do that a lot). But every now and again you stumble upon an unexpected gem that is such a great find that it doesn't even look like a gem at all. It appears at first as a mirage. So..Louisiana is a state but also a different country. And within the country of Louisiana exists another country called Thibodaux. Stay with me here! Now inside of Thibodaux (inside of Louisiana) there is another country called the Jungle Casino which shares a border with another country called The Congo Lounge. These two countries share a DMZ known as Blakes Deli. You just can't make this shit up! Here you go: http://www.congolounge.net/ Blakes deli is way the fuck better than Switzerland too (also where the Congo Lounge and the Jungle Casino are located. In case you ever wondered where the hell that actually was..NOW you know!) Technically it is located also in the Adventure Truck Plaza which I believe also has the same status as its own country like the Vatican or Malta. It is here in this magical land that I enjoyed one of the BEST damn oyster po boy sammiches I have ever had in my life. Right there in the fillin' station. Yes, sir! I did and it was better than many I have payed a lot more money to eat. Here is the menu: http://www.congolounge.net/blake_poboys.htm Yep! That oyster poboy was LOADED with oysters. Cooked PERFECTLY. And they got shrimp, catfish, and roast beef poboy sammiches too. And great fried chicken and beer too. I realize I make this shit look easy sometimes. Doing these reviews. I hope you people who read this shit appreciate the fact that I often risk my own life to get this type of information to you. Andrew Zimmern is a joke. He should roll with me sometime. It would be fun to hear him whine like a girly man as he feared for his life. Adventurer my ass! You have not had an adventure until you have located, eaten, and made it out of the Adventure Truck Plaza. So if you haven't the just shut the hell up. No. Seriously. Shut the hell up. Especially in this place. Nobody gives a damn who you are so if you think you are somebody OR you actually are somebody..shut your mouth. Unless you are eating. NOTE: Drive thru frozen Daiquiris across the road. Yes it is legal. But not to drink them while driving. Again. SHUT UP! You ask too many questions. Get one. Don't get one. This is Thibodaux, LA. Shut your mouth and play along. Got it? Good.

We stopped in here for lunch and ended up with a sampling of what in my opinion is probably the best example of cajun food done right in Houma and for miles around - everything was delicious and the service from Sarah L was outstanding. We started with the Charbroiled Oysters served with toasted french bread, the plump Louisiana oysters were succulent and dipping the french bread in the cajun butter became an obsession, definitely a must do starter - I wasn't leaving here without trying their chicken and sausage gumbo, perfect texture and complex flavors it will make you a believer, my hats off to the chef, definitely authentic - the fried catfish filets and jumbo fried shrimp platters were outstanding although we didn't do it these are the foundation of an amazing po-boy (maybe next time) - all the sides were exceptional from the fried okra and onion rings to my personal favorite the skillet fried potatoes and who could leave without a few beignets served hot covered in powdered sugar - what a meal they should have a place to lay down in the back for a "cajun nap". In my opinion if you craving some authentic cajun dishes you can't go wrong here, the portions are nice and the prices are very reasonable.
