Delightful B&B in the hills of southern NC. We attended a 50th wedding anniversary party there before the current owners took over, but our recent visit was our first stay with the new owners (since 2011 I think). We stayed in a cottage years ago but this time stayed in a corner room in the main inn. Wonderful setting, amazing breakfast, and an entirely great team supporting the guests. We didn't have dinner here but that's only because of a pre-existing res elsewhere. The new owners have maintained the place amazing well, from the new terrace extension to the restaurant (heated!), to the paths, Tesla wall batteries in case of emergencies, coffee service. My parents stayed here when they came to visit my girlfriend and I down in Tryon. We came up the first night and had dinner at the restaurant. Both my mother and I are gluten-free and they Took every precaution and were very friendly about making sure we were able to eat everything on the menu that we were interested in. The cherry tomato aperitif was to die for I had no idea that a Tomato could have such flavor. Every course in the meal was fantastic the lobster was some of the best I've had in my life and about halfway through the steak I realize that I would stay and finish the steak even if the restaurant was burning down it was just too good to waste. In fact it was so good that I would walk into a burning building to save that steak so that I could eat it I would climb mountains to eat that steak. In fact I am going to drive to the top of Skyuka mountain right now to shout about how delicious that steak was was. read more

We stopped in here just to check this place out and so glad we did. Excellent atmosphere and fine dining. It was our anniversary weekend but we had only our hiking clothes with us. They accommodated us and made us feel very welcomed. We had a window table with serene view of the mountains at dusk. Lovely Frank Sinatra music playing in the background. Dinner was $84/per person but it was our anniversary afterall! Four courses and each were excellent. Great friendly staff. Intimate and romantic. Just what we wanted for our special dinner. Nestled in the mountains of North Carolina, the Orchard Inn is a magical place. My husband and I first discovered it when we were planning our small June wedding and searching for a location that was not only beautiful and peaceful, but would also handle almost everything for us. We worked with the owners, Marc, Marianne and Adam, and their amazing staff to create a wedding experience that far surpassed our expectations. They took care of the food, cake, photographer, and flowers; helped arrange the officiant; and provided recommendations for makeup, hair, and nails. I can't imagine a lovelier experience. We had such a wonderful time at the Orchard Inn when we were married, we wanted to come back when we actually had time to relax and enjoy the idyllic location. Last weekend, we did just that, and, again, everything was perfection. Our room was quaint, cozy, and overlooked the breathtaking mountains. We enjoyed delicious, healthy breakfasts each morning, explored the towns around the Inn (Saluda, Tryon, Hendersonville) in the afternoon, and ate one delicious dinner at the Inn (the other was at the wonderful nearby Azalea Bistro). We're already planning a trip back next fall and hope to make it an annual event. read more

We decided to splurge on a romantic dinner in a beautiful setting! The Orchard Inn is absolutely beautiful as you drive up the driveway! So we knew we were off to a great start! Once we entered, we immediately were greeted by Marc, the owner. Since we had arrived early, he suggested we get a glass of wine and partake in the complimentary appetizers. He showed us around the beautiful inn downstairs and after suggesting a delicious white and red wine for each of us, we relaxed on the veranda. The pics I attached are from there. The views are absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Since they weren't busy, we took our time and came inside after our 7:00 reservation. The prix fixe menu sounded delicious! I opted for the zucchini and basil soup while my husband ordered the cold cucumber soup. Both were delicious! We each received a mixed greens salad. Nothing special, but tasty! Now for the entrees . . . I ordered the crab cakes with roasted vegetables and my husband got the lamb chops with roasted vegetables. Since I don't eat meat but do eat seafood, the crab cakes were my only option. I do think a vegetarian pasta dish would've been great. I must admit I rarely order crab cakes as I don't like those that have lots of fillers! However, these were full of crab and had a crispy breadcrumb crust. My only complaint is they had way too much tarragon in them! At first I couldn't decide if it was cinnamon, nutmeg or tarragon as it seemed like it was competing with the crab flavor. My husband thought it was nutmeg but I decided tarragon. The chef/owner came up at the end of our dinner and we asked what the "surprise" spice was in the crab cake. I won - it was tarragon! But we didn't tell her it was overpowering. My husband liked his lamb chops and the minty sauce. We each got desserts - berry pie and chocolate torte. Both were good, I'm just not a big sweets person. But I assure you both were eaten and enjoyed! I highly recommend The Orchard Inn for a delicious romantic dinner! While exhibiting at the horse park in Tryon North Carolina, my Daughter and I were lucky enough to stay at the beautiful Orchard Inn for two magnificent weekends in July. Even though our flights got us into the Inn very very late we were welcomed with charming rooms, fresh baked sweets and a lovely glass of wine to take the edge off of our late night journey. Meeting Marianne and Marc the next morning was only outdone by the magnificent breakfast we enjoyed while gazing out over the many birds, flowers and mountains. The Inn is beautifully maintained and offers such charming common areas to either sit back and relax meet new friends over a drink at the lovely bar or even try your skills at a game of pool. One night we played a board game on the outside patio by candlelight!!! If your travels take you near Saluda you will be very happy you stayed at the Orchard Inn read more

Welcoming and inviting. Very nice and attentive staff. Nicely decorated for the holidays. The food was ok but pricey for ok food. The shining star of the whole meal was the filet, it was excellent. The 40ish dollar bottle of wine was pretty bad. I would say it tasted like a three dollar bottle of wine but I have enjoyed bottles of two buck chuck more. I did ask for assistance in choosing a wine so this wasn't just a random pick. We spent $200 for two people including tip, I don't feel we got our money's worth. For $200 I should have been wowed! read more

I just want to thank Marc and Marianne for a great dinner! It is always a great dinning experience, and Saturday evening was no exception. There were four of us there for my birthday, and of course Marc and Maryanne was apart of it as well. Maryanne prepared a wonderful meal for all, I started off with the Lobster Bisque then Wiener Schnitzel and potato salad which was awesome. We all share a little of each other's entree, the pork and beef tenderloin, as well as the Crab cakes were outstanding, everything from appetizers, to desserts was excellent, along with over the top service. This is a fantastic bed and breakfast. 30 mins south of Asheville on I-26 in Saluda, North Carolina. It sits on top of a quiet mountain. The main Inn has a 8 rooms. There are also 5 cottages. Dinner is served a few nights a week and the food is delightful. This is the place to get away from it all. The Inn was originally built 1926 by Southern Railroad Brotherhood of Clerks. We enjoyed a relaxing 2 night stay and were very impressed with the service, cleanliness, and the amazing gourmet breakfasts! The location is right in the heart of a quaint mountain town and is only a short drive up to Asheville and many other attractions. There are some modern amenaties, such as wifi and a large TV (downstairs), but the appeal for us was the chance to escape from the business of life and spend a few days of quiet relaxation in the mountains. What a lovely find in the West NC mountains. This beautiful inn has both rooms and cottages. We stayed in Paulownia cottage last year, which has amazing views, and in the largest, Laurel Cottage, this year. With 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, Laurel was perfect for our family. Set in the middle of a lovely wooded area, it was serene. The breakfasts in the Inn are always plentiful and very tasty, and the views of the forested mountains are spectacular! My 86 year old mom needed medical care this trip, and the owners were so helpful! Best place to relax and rejuvenate! read more

We live locally and have been going here for dinner for close to twenty years. Marc & Marianne are the newest owners and they have perfectly kept the fantastic ambiance, food, service and warmth going without missing a beat. We have had small dinners to family reunions to my Mother's 90th birthday here and we longer consider anywhere else for a special event. The food is superb and beautifully presented. The trout is to die for. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is always outstanding and friendly. When you arrive there are cheeses and fruit so come a little early to sit in the lobby, enjoy a glass of wine (they have a nice list) before dinner. During dinner enjoy the spectacular views and take your time as they never make you feel in a hurry. What a find this place is. A delightful surprise to step into the restored cottage style building of days gone by. Quaint setting, good mountain view, relaxed, quiet feel. Only went for dinner- a limited pre fix menu with some nice creative flare to it. Only disappointment was the lack of organic /free range meet. Beef was Angus but not organic. Butternut squash soup and delicate salad were delicious and beautifully presented but Crab cake entree was a bit mediocre. Tiramisu was outstanding and service was very low key, non intrusive yet attentive. Espresso was not available in decaf. read more

The main building sits on top of a secluded hill, overlooking what is seemingly an untouched foothill/mountain landscape. Beautiful grounds compliment every view you take in. The food is delicious, professionally prepared, and kindly served. You really do get an "escape" when you visit here, and I would encourage anyone and everyone to take an opportunity to visit. read more

We have been regular visitors to the Orchard Inn since 2007. It has always been one of favorite B and B's but Mark and Marianne have continued to refine the Inn without reducing the charm of the inn. The food has always been very good, but it seems to get better with every visit. We had a lovely time at the Orchard Inn in Saluda, NC. The owners were excellent hosts. They made us feel welcome without ever interrupting our privacy. The inn is handsome with a large central room where we felt comfortable hanging out and visiting. The front porch with its many rocking chairs is charming, as is the breakfast porch where we enjoyed views of the mountains in the distance. The breakfast offerings were ample and delicious. The garden and grounds are quite special and the bedrooms were simple, but very comfortable. We would highly recommend this inn. read more

This is a fantastic B&B in a beautiful mountain setting in Saluda, NC. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of B&Bs but I acquiesced to my other half who wanted to stay there. The property is quite beautiful, the owners are very warm and welcoming, and the food was exceptional. Just for clarification, we rented the dog-friendly cottage and brought along our hound, who really enjoyed playing with the owners' Boxer. The challenging aspects for me were no TV in the cottage and no internet service. There was internet service at the main house but the bandwidth was too limited for me to create a static IP and access my company's VPN in order to do some work, and my company has a certain routine connectivity expectation. With that being said, If you are looking for a well-managed and beautiful B&B with good access to interesting activities then Orchard Inn is one of the best that I have encountered. We will likely stay there again (I'll just create Remote Desktop portal access with my office beforehand). read more

I took my daugter to the Tyon Horse Show. Our stay with Orchard Inn was fantastic. The moment we walked into the place, we fell in love with it. The first floor was decrated beautifully and it's surounded with the maganificant montain view! Our room is nice and clean and comfortable. The bathroom is much spacious than what we thought and it's very clean. Fresh flowers are everywhere! The food for dinner was wonderful. The breakfast was made with a style that we loved it. Sitting in the dinning room every morning while looking at maganificent montain view made us feel so happy about the day. People were friendly. Service was very professional. If you want a quiet, lovely, scenic B&B with excellent food, The Orchard Inn is a wonderful spot. Mark and Marianna are gracious hosts. They are sweet and accommodating. They even have a Tesla Charger (and another EV charger). Our breakfasts were delicious. We even had dinner there one night and it was outstanding. Bluefin tuna appetizer and lamb chops were both top notch. Our room was lovely with a newly renovated bathroom. My friend, Patty, and I did a get-away to NC. I googled where to stay, and we decided to try The Orchard Inn. This was our first visit, and it TOTALLY exceeded any and all expectations. We stayed for 5 nights. It was the most perfect change of "pace and place." We had a great cottage with fireplace and private porch over-looking the apple orchards and mountains. The hiking was wonderful...it helped justify the exquisite gourmet breakfasts. We indulged ourselves with a special dinner at the Inn...unbelievably delicious. The staff were caring...the cleanliness was immaculate. The Innkeepers, Marc & Marianne Blazar, were as nice and hospitable and accommodating as could be...they genuinely are passionate about everything they do and how they do it...it is sooooo nice to see people dedicated to bringing joy to others. We will DEFINITELY RETURN, and we are RAVING FANS. My friend and I have traveled the world for the past 30 years and have stayed in some of the best places because our profession is working with the luxury segment of the hospitality industry, so we know and greatly appreciate quality, service, sincerity and authenticity. While traveling through NC, we stopped at The Orchard Inn for Sunday Brunch. The experience was magical! We had plenty of mouth watering choices. Every dish was cooked to perfection and simply melted in our mouths. The service was outstanding! We were seated in front of "floor to ceiling" windows with hypnotizing views of the mountains. After brunch, Marc and Marianne, (the inn keepers) offered to give us a tour of the property. This is a historic property that feels like you have walked back in time. The keeping room/lobby has plenty of couches and arm chairs to just relax. There is also a cozy alcove off of the keeping room lined with book shelves. The dining room (as already mentioned) has spectacular views of the mountains and a small bar area which is a perfect spot to sip some of the fine wines that Marc has hand selected. Downstairs is a "man cave" complete with a pool table and TV, also with plenty of room to "hang out". The bedrooms & bathrooms upstairs were sparkling clean and made up with luxurious linens. There are so many interesting books, games, and puzzles, scattered all around The Orchard Inn, that I can't imagine ever being bored during a stay in case of bad weather. We also had a chance to see some of the cottages. This is where you would stay if you were traveling with young children, or if you wanted a little more privacy. One cottage has the same spectacular views as the dining room; compete with a large deck to take it all in. They even have a cottage for guests traveling with dogs. The cottages are also sparkling clean, but with a more rustic feel than the inn. The front porch is so quaint with plenty of rockers. The back deck has breath taking views. I hope to be back in the area soon so we can spend a weekend at this charming inn. read more
