My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Henderson. Everything was clean, owner/operators were friendly and generous, a pre-ordered Charcuterie board was interesting and well appointed. Breakfast portions were small for a big eater, the food was good and the service friendly and efficient. Pros: Friendly service (thanks for the help with luggage!) Clean room and bathroom. Lots of towels! Very nice linens on bed (good pillows!) Great porches, lots of seating Note: had it been any warmer our room on the third floor would have been too hot. As it were, there were a generous amount of fans. Wifi worked well throughout the establishment.

Wonderful! B&B is in a great location in the middle of quaint Hendersonville. The building was constructed in the early 1900s and has always been a hotel. Awesome wrap around porch. Wine served 5-6pm and they offer delicious cookies. My room was decorated with sweet colors and antiques. Bring your own toiletries. A/C unit and fan combo kept me cool at night. The owners are very friendly. Breakfast was SO good! They always offer sweet and savory options and both looked good! I'd def stay here again if I'm back in the area.

This review is for the "3rd Avenue Bistro," located in and operated by the Inn on Church. Four of us had Sunday Brunch here. The table on the verandah was pleasant (Sunday traffic being lighter than midweek) and the service was excellent. Oh, and the iced tea was very good. From there things were at best middling, and my two star rating reflects the fact that for their prices and their presentation, we had reason to expect more. Pros: 1. Spouse enjoyed his scallop dish (the special) - he's seldom met a scallop he didn't like, but these were particularly well prepared. Grilled, with gentle seasonings. As to the rest of the plate, more about this later. 2. I tried the white gazpacho which was served in a tiny glass teacup complete with saucer. It was well seasoned, creamy, with little bits of . . . ?? . . . something that added a bit of texture. All told, a good choice. 3. My companions opted for peach crepes and the omelet which were pronounced acceptable, nothing great. Now, the cons: 1. The bread (of which we were each served a single teeny sliver) was Very Stale. The butter, served in 3/4 tsp blobs for two persons, was fresh from the freezer. 2. I chose the "smoked trout and eggs". Have eaten smoked trout many times, I know it comes in many formats. This one was simply a mistake. The flavor was total sugar/caramel, with the taste of trout almost totally masked. The dish was served with an egg -- cooked, and cooked, and cooked. A little moist yoke would have been a blessing. All rested on a bed of Extremely Ordinary (and not terribly hot) cubes of fried potatoes. 3. And then - the garnishes. Here's where the two stars rating really kicks in. The Bistro is trying too hard. Every dish on the menu has several cutesy things listed, in all their French glory - and on the plates, what you find is this teeny garnish here, that little blob of decoration there, not particularly related to anything else other than the opportunity to be pretentious. To cite just one example, Spouse's plate had on the side a wee fried quail egg, cute and tasty but not related to anything else by placement or palate. Would I try this restaurant again? Maybe, just out of curiosity to see if they handle everyday meals more lightly.

It was such a great experience that I would recommend traveling to Hendersonville just to stay at the Elizabeth Leigh and eat at the restaurants on Main St. It's a very relaxing and classy small town. Main St. is a short 10 minute walk from the inn. When I walked into the inn, I was blown away by the elegant antique decor. The pictures online just don't do it justice. I stayed in the Blue Room. It had a large comfortable bed, two chairs, loveseat, wardrobe, and a few other various decor items. All the colors and patterns went together flawlessly. The bathroom was incredible. It had gold and white accents, but still went really well with the blue theme. There were plenty of fresh high quality thick white towels neatly rolled in a basket. The shower had an adjustable head. Water stayed warm the whole time despite showering at the same time as other guests. Breakfast was southern, filling, elegantly served, and tasted amazing. The first breakfast was eggs, bacon, and thick French toast. The next was a cream cheese, berries, and French toast casserole or 'hot dish' depending on where you're from. There was complimentary bottled water, wine, ice cream, homemade white chocolate macadamia cookies, homemade pound cake (which was wonderful), and beer. Now possibly the most enjoyable part, the rest of the property. The inn has a wraparound porch with big white rocking chairs that overlook the yard and the little street in front of the house. The backyard has a fountain, swing in front of a little waterfall pond, and corner area with seating. There are multiple places to have private conversations with your loved one(s). If you get the opportunity, getting to know the owner Cindy and her husband Mike will be the best part of your stay. The inn is an expression of Cindy and her dream to give guests a relaxing, but high quality environment to experience genuine southern hospitality in the gorgeous mountains of western North Carolina.

We wanted to visit Western North Carolina and spend money to support businesses several months…read moreafter Hurricane Helene devastated the area. We booked online and selected a room on the first floor off the porch/patio. We arrived later than expected on a Friday but they were still offering wine, beer and snacks. It's an older building, but we actually prefer that to big, sterile hotels. Sleep quality was good although since you are on the far side of Main Street, you might hear traffic at night. For breakfast we were given vouchers to a nearby eatery which was quite good. One evening we also enjoyed sipping hot tea on the porch. Location is great to stroll into the downtown area. After we left, I noticed I forgot my rain jacket in the closet, so we called them up and they tracked it down and mailed it to us, charging the card we had on file.

We got in late on Thursday evening, and just squeaked in before the managers retired for the night. They had a lot of information we needed, so were very happy. The place was, as advertised, the very essence of Southern elegance. The giant front porch with rocking chairs gave us the message Only drawback was the room itself, with no closets and a shower that had hot or cold water, but nothing much in between. That said, the bed was comfortable, and the tv had the full suite of cable channels - something we used to take for granted, but in the AirBNB era we've seen a lot of LeftoversTV. The real magic here is each morning's breakfast - totally gourmet dining here each day - especially the quiche on Sunday. The couple running things were delightful, and great ambassadors for their booming town. Highly recommended.

We booked the Silverbell Tree room directly through the Waverly, totaling $595 for two nights. The Waverly charged an additional $17.99 for a booking fee. Unbeknownst to us, there is evidently a "late check-in fee" of $42.70 for checking in after 8 pm. (Our first time EVER to be charged for a late check-in.). We couldn't find record or notification of this charge anywhere, however. Trying to keep a long review short; $655 total for two nights in a semi-clean room that didn't include refreshment of bath towels/cloths or any housekeeping after night one was a bit disappointing. The claw foot bath tub is ok, but feels less than clean. (Showering is kind of gross since the curtains don't leave much room to keep your own rear end off of them, let alone whoever's rear was rubbing on them before.). The bed was great. The breakfast was ok. The coffee was ok. Overall the experience was sub-par compared to other historical venues that have accommodated us. I hope you have better luck than we did or look elsewhere.
