VERY disappointed as there was no staff welcome nor interaction with staff while we were there. It was like renting a room in an historical home--sort of like "Night at the Museum." I would never return nor recommend this inn to others. I used to volunteer at the Hendersonville Visitors Center . . . there are far nicer and more welcoming hotels and B&Bs in our area. Yes, the ownership has changed, and we had made our previous reservations with the old owners, but we had no problem with our reservation. (I was proactive in reminding them I had pre-paid so I didn't get double-charged.) We got the suite which was big enough for 4 and it was a fantastic room. Breakfast was authentic Liege-style waffles with fruit, and fresh-squeezed juice and coffee, served in a really nice breakfast room. read more

Excellent! Mehmet and Lale are so kind, thoughtful and accommodating.  Mehmet even surprised us with a yummy homemade cake one afternoon. The house is clean and beautiful! During this time of Coronavirus, Lale and Mehmet are very careful to socially distance guests and wear masks when in close proximity to you, if you prefer that. They have hand sanitizer, hand sanitizing wipes and Clorox wipes located throughout the house for guests to keep hands and surfaces clean. The breakfasts were delicious, homemade and unique each day. They are very responsive and respectful of food allergies. Great location in town within walking distance (if you like longer walks) or a short drive of downtown HVL and breweries. Just 20-30 minute car drive from DuPont State Recreational Forest and its waterfalls and hiking. Also, just 30 mins from Asheville. Dog friendly for a minimal fee. Mehmet and Lale both love animals! THE place to stay if you are exploring or traveling anywhere in the Brevard/Asheville/Hendersonville/Pisgah/Dupont Forest area. The moment I pulled into the driveway, this place became my favorite bed and breakfast in North Carolina. This place is really really special. I came here for a short summer vacation trip to go waterfall hunting with a family friend visiting from out of town. I wanted to give her an unforgettable, decadent, luxurious experience, and the Melange delivered. The property is on the National Register of Historic Places, which is one of my favorite things. You drive up to the front and are greeted by immaculately manicured gardens. When you step inside, the sweeping staircase invites you to explore the rest of the building. Between the sun-room, the breakfast area, the courtyard and the multiple gardens, there are many places to relax and think. Mehmet and Lale were very welcoming and you can tell how much heart they have poured into this work of love. We stayed in the Azalea Suite, which has two bedrooms and a balcony on the second floor. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was on a movie set. The interior design is clean and sumptuous. We felt totally spoiled. This place is appropriately named: it is a wonderful melange of European antiques, Middle Eastern touches and modern amenities. The shower blew my mind with 2 rainfall spouts and a separately controlled panel of 8 jets on the wall. Breakfast was its own fantastic adventure. We were asked about any dietary restrictions and give 3 seating options (we chose their earliest, 8:30). Both days we were served a two course gourmet meal with juice (we don't drink coffee). First course was sweet and second savory. The first day we had a fresh ricotta filled crepe with candied fruit and a vegetable egg bake atop a homemade croissant. the second day was a fruit tart and a vegetable/egg stack. Please refer to my pictures because the presentation was absolutely gorgeous. The first thing I did when I checked out? Booked another reservation for this fall when my parents are visiting. It was incredible in the summer and I'd be willing to wager it is also beautiful in the fall with the leaves changing. Oh, and the rates? Incredibly reasonable, and comparable to the big box corporate hotels with no heart and no good food. They give you a Wifi code with your room, and if this matters to you, I think we had an 80" tv in the master bedroom. It was huge. STAY HERE!!! read more

After spending 5 days here, I can honestly say it is worth every penny. It is a beautiful 100 year old house with 6 rooms. The rooms are clean and cozy. The beds are really comfortable. Janet, the innkeeper, is so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast ,that is included, gives you a choice of 6 different items. I tried 4 of them, and they were all delicious. Parking is available not far from the front door. If you want a lovely, no hotel, experience, this is the place. read more

Mehmet and Lale, the inkeepers, are the best of hosts. They are very accommodating and tend to my every whim. The gardens are breathtaking and the food...oh the food...is extraordinary. I have a passion for fine dining, and without fail, I have been impressed by their dishes. Each creative and delectable meal boasts the freshest of ingredients melded together perfectly. Mehmet and Lale truly make cooking an art form. The rooms are uniquely decorated with momentos from Mehmet and Lale's travels around the world. The word Melange itself means a collection or a blend of things of different kinds; it is the perfect description of the inn. Each room exudes European charm and luxury. We stopped here on our way to Greensboro from Cashiers to celebrate my 60th birthday. WOW! We love this B&B. So much love and caring oozing from this historic house and owners/caretakers. The morning breakfasts were cozy and oh so delicious. The fire was burning so nicely when we arrived and a home-made pecan pie and tea was there to welcome guests. Our room was very nice and we really enjoyed the fancy shower with all of the different directional heads. Took us a minute to figure them out but made it hard to turn off the water and get out of the shower. It was quiet and relaxing and we loved lying in our king-sized bed watching the Redskins lose ... really? Couldn't give me a birthday gift of a win? We highly recommend stopping here for a night or on the way to your final destination. You will be so happy that you did. read more

We stayed there in late Aug. 2011, just got back. Lale and Mehmet are from Turkey and they have a wonderful B and B in Hendersonville. The breakfast they serve has just a hint of European flavor (Turkish), and it is wonderful. The rooms are large and comfy. The bathrooms are the best we have experienced in any B and B. We recently stayed at Melange B&B in Hendersonville, NC for 4 days. The owners, Mehmet and his wife Lale were very pleasant, along with a very attentive staff. The unique home and gardens are definitely something that reminds one of the best in Europe. That includes the food! There is much to see in the area - Carl Sandburg's house, the Biltmore estate built by George Vanderbilt, the North Carolina Arboretum, Asheville, Greenville, SC, the Blue Ridge Parkway as examples - all well worth the trip. To sum it up, if you plan to visit this area, the nicest and most comfortable place to stay must be at the Melange B&B. You will be in for an unusual and very pleasant experience with the best of Southern Hospitality! read more

Wedding ceremony in the back yard of Melange was perfect. An aisle flanked with 25 seats each side were perfect and the trees and fernery creating a lovely shade and sound barrier. A very well run B & B by a charming couple. The house has a perfect set up with common areas, yet rooms are quiet and private. They said they don't have formal culinary training, but both breakfast were delicious and chef worthy. We arrived late on a Friday and chose to eat dinner at the inn instead if going to town. fabulous meal! We went into town for sushi the second night. My husband and I both wishes we would have eaten back at the Inn! Cant wait to return! read more

My family and I spent two nights at the Melange for the apple festival weekend. When I tell you this place is amazing, I am not exaggerating. Our hosts were so gracious. The room was beyond all of our expectations. The antiques and decor are simply elegant and the food was not only beautiful but tasted divine. The morning breakfast was the highlight of our vacation. This place was amazing. It far exceeded our expectations. It is a large mansion with 6 large rooms and suites. The house is on the national registry for historic places. The front and rear landscaping is lush and incredible. The interior of the house is incredible beyond description. The decor is older European style. It might look like antique southern style to some. We stayed in the Azalea suite. It is huge. It is the size of a normal 1-bedroom apartment, but without the kitchen. The front room has a double bed. The main bedroom has a large bed that is high like antique style beds. The mattress was very comfortable. It was the most comfortable bed that I have experienced while traveling. There is a large bathroom with a high-tech shower with numerous massaging shower heads. There are also three overhead shower heads. You cannot resist from staying in shower for a long time. There is a nice balcony that is very relaxing with morning coffee while enjoying the rear garden. The TV has a large screen and is connected to cable with abundance of channels. The WiFi was good and fast. Mehmet and Lale are the owners and have been operating the place for over 20 years. They make a point of interacting with the guests. They are a pleasure. Lale made an amazing European style breakfast that is difficult to describe, but leaves a pleasant memory of the experience. Their passion for the place is obvious and leads to an outstanding experience. I highly encourage travelers to experience this place. I am certain that good memories will the etched forever into your brain. read more
