We stopped here later in the evening one night while camping in the area. We had both eaten dinner…read morebut hubby wanted a snack. There's a lack of dining in the area, especially at night which is why we choose this place. It was clean and easy to find, get in and out of, and park. I only saw outdoor seating. They had a lone singer the night of our visit which felt out of place. The shear volume of his music made it hard to carry on a conversation. No one seemed to be paying any attention to him and honestly his performance did nothing to enhance the dining experience, it felt like noise pollution. Hubby and I sat on the side as far away as we could so we could talk. The ordering process could be improved. The staff were young teenagers who didn't really have designated job duties. The wait was longer than expected for our order. Our food was just ok. Hubby got a sub which he didn't rave about. The ham looked like the cheap variety with rind on the sides. My order of pickle chips was ok, a nice portion, but slightly overcooked. Prices were average. Something they served that we saw elsewhere in this area is fried perogies, which is not common where we live. Kudos to them for having a well maintained building, clean, freshly painted, with fresh blacktop parking lot and comfortable outdoor dining with umbrellas. We'd give them another chance (only without the outdoor "entertainment" ) if we find ourselves in the area again.

We luv their flavor burst ice cream. It's the best!! Only place we get our ice cream.read more

The great amusement park architects of the world, the men and women who have paved our planet with…read morescream machines and loop-the-loops, tend to see food as a necessary evil. A means of keeping the customers alive just long enough to extract their last dollar before they collapse from either exhilaration or dehydration. And so, in most places, you get the standard issue amusement park fare: a limp hamburger at the price of a used bicycle, a pretzel harder than the pavement beneath it, a soda that costs more than your father's first car. But not at Knoebels. At Knoebels, they believe food is part of the show, an act unto itself. So much so that they have won multiple Golden Ticket Awards for Best Amusement Park Food in the Nation, which is the closest thing we have to a Nobel Prize for deep-fried brilliance. (Yes, Dollywood is in the conversation, but Dollywood is playing catch-up, while Knoebels is out there setting the pace.) Here, you can have a full sit-down meal at The Oasis, where the air is thick with the scent of home-cooked comfort. You can grab an ice cream (sort serve or hand scooped) that, defying all odds, is better than 90% of what you'd find outside th park gates. You can walk up to a stand and, depending on your mood, leave with perogies, pulled pork, fresh-cut fries, or a funnel cake so perfectly crisp and golden that you will wonder if it was fried by angels. And unlike every other amusement park that keeps the menu unchanged since the days of the Industrial Revolution, Knoebels is always tinkering, always innovating, always adding something new, because they know that the best way to keep winning is to never stop trying. And here's the kicker: Knoebels doesn't have to do any of this. They could serve overpriced slop and force you to buy it, like most every other park does. But they don't. Instead, they do something radical. They let you bring in your own food, encourage it even. They even provide free picnic areas. It's an act of either extreme confidence or benevolent madness. But here's what happens: people eat the Knoebels food anyway. Because it is that good. So if you ever find yourself in Elysburg, PA, and you hear the distant clatter of a wooden roller coaster, follow it. Eat a meal that doesn't taste like an obligation. Eat a meal that was made for joy. Eat at Knoebels. And then, for the love of all that is holy, go ride the Phoenix.

The food is always good and the service is also good. They have a large menu . I always like going…read morethere.

This was an oasis that took advantage of the nearby amusement park visitors. That sounds a bit…read morenastier than it should, but there isn't much around here at this intersection competition wise when it comes to gas. They do have some competition when it comes to food with a few fast food establishments nearby. With it being the only gas station it was congested and hard to maneuver in the lot. Actually it was equally hard to maneuver inside as well with the congestion. I did make sure that I was able to use the facilities and refuel myself for my drive back to the hotel. I got my usual iced tea and grabbed a snack or two. What took the longest here was the checkout line. It was long and slow moving. Probably because it is the easiest place to stop to pick up a last minute item, grab a bite to eat, use the ATM, etc. next to the amusement park. I am glad I was able to get here, but it was anything but a quick stop.

We even tried offering our phone again, thinking maybe one scan didn't go through, but she just rolled her eyes at us and refused. She kept arguing with us and wouldn't do anything to help. After finally scanning our phone again, it went through, and she just said, "Now, go enjoy those free drinks..." Her attitude was so unprofessional and rude, especially on a holiday. I've heard similar complaints from four other people who had bad experiences with this older lady too at the front counter as well.
