I have lived near Little Shops since they opened 13 years ago. I fell in love with the place then…read moreand wanted so badly to open a little business in there, however with two small children, etc, that didn't happened. Over the years, I would go in and visit and continued to love the atmosphere and the people. I will grant, the building is very old. This is the NW valley after all and there are lots of very old buildings that are still in use for homes, businesses, etc. Quite a few of them are showing their age which, to a good many people, it adds to the charm. There have been some roof problems. Gee, live in NM, have a flat roof and you are going to have problems. That may have been where Stewart got the smell from. Personally, I have never smelled cat pee or any other bad smells in there. Why are there not more employees in there? Most of the artisans leave their wears on consignment, so usually, there is any where from 2 - 4 employees in there at a time, sometimes more, and if they are busy with other customers then you may have to wait a few minutes. As for not many cars in the parking lot, I can point to a lot of businesses that have times of the day or days where there are no cars in the parking lot. That doesn't say anything about the quality of merchandise and services inside. There are over 15 different vendors selling their merchandise and services. I would say that at least 80% of it is hand made by the vendors. However, the Avon store carries Avon products, jewelry, and other products that are made by Avon. She also orders some wonderful inspirational art, souvenirs and other items that are made elsewhere. But, that adds to the great variety of merchandise available. Stewart's last statement was, "This place either needs to search out some better vendors or they won't be around too long." Well, that was 2 years ago and Little Shops is still going strong. Lots of people come in for the first time and love the place and there is a lot of repeat business. Please, don't take Stewart's word for the quality Little Shops . Check them out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

When I saw the collection of black cat art in the window, I knew I had to stop in this shop and what a feast for the eyes. So many beautiful paintings and prints in a variety of sizes. Shadow boxes, jewelry and Dia de los Muertos, Virgin of Guadalupe and more! I couldn't resist getting a smaller print of a painting with a black cat and crows, my favorite animals, which fit perfectly in my suitcase. And the owner, an artist himself, is the nicest guy. I couldn't possibly love Santisima more. I'll be back.

I completely recommend this place because of the amazing designs and the variety of products, from t-shirts to hoodies, from coffee mugs to really cool stickers! I lived in Cruces for a couple of years while I was attending NMSU, and I'd always see them in the farmers market, buy some tshirts from them, and see people wearing their apparel everywhere on campus and around town. I'm not from New Mexico, so every time I visit my hometown I go here to get New Mexican souvenirs for my family and friends. The greatest thing about them is the fact that they are directly benefiting the local community. I say this because Organ Mountain Outfitters donates a portion of their sales to the Las Cruces Public Schools to support the reduced lunch program and help feed a child! Five stars! I'm only aware of one other flower shop in the heart of downtown, and People's is simply more geographically convenient. After my screening was complete I was escorted to the secure door of MVD. I had an appointed that was made a couple of months ago. I was assisted by a very kind lady (I have to get her name for y'all, she was great). I had all the necessary documents to complete both my transactions. Which included having my vehicle inspected. I was in and out the door in 35 minutes. I have been doing all my MVD business her since I moved here in 1994. I have done both personal and business transactions. My kids Have done their driving tests here. Even when they were open in full operations have always been great. As long as you have all your proper documentation you're good. Remember they are just doing their job and following the law. New Mexico isn't the only state required to get a "real" ID.

I would give the Tijeres MVD zero stars in I could. I brought my son in to their office this past…read moreTuesday to get him a state i.d. I chose the Tijeres MVD on purpose because their reviews are generally very good. The only appointment I could get for him was on a Tuesday afternoon. We made the 40 minute drive from Estancia, and as soon as we were seated I brought out all of the information that it had taken me hours and hours to compile to meet the New Mexico "real ID" protocol. Keep in mind that this isn't easy if your child doesn't have any bills or insurance statements sent to them in which they are named as the prime beneficiary. This means that even if your son or daughter is LISTED as a beneficiary, your name or your spouse's name may appear above your address. Stupidly enough, this will cause problems. I brought my son't Social Security card, his birth certificate, a CNM electric bill (that I went to great trouble to have his name added to), as well as a print-out of his home school enrolment information from the New Mexico Public Education Department. Keep in mind that the latter is a GOVERNMENT entity. I also brought my son's Delta Dental bill with his name printed on it as the beneficiary, but addressed to my husband because he is the primary account holder. I had called and talked to the woman we were now seated on the other side of the kiosk from at the MVD. She had told me on the phone that I could bring his home school information as proof as long as his name and address were on it. She'd also said that health care and dental bills were okay as long as his name and address were on them too. To my shock and disgust, she NOW told me in person that the print-out from the NM Department of Education couldn't be used, and that "we need to see his insurance card along with the dental insurance invoice." She then had the nerve to say, "I told you this on the phone ma'am." Rest assured, she had NOT told me on the phone! I have an audiographic memory, so I know exactly what she told me on the phone, and she had DEFINITELY said that I could bring his enrolment with the Department of Education as proof. In other words, she was flat-out lying. Meanwhile, an elderly gentleman to my left (a customer) was talking SO LOUDLY to his customer service rep. that I could hardly hear mine. At NO time did either my rep or the loud man's rep ask him to lower his voice, even though I was clearly distraught. I informed my rep that I couldn't hear her, and I also asked the man if he could speak more quietly, but he ignored me. NEITHER of the MVD reps did a THING to ask him to quiet down! I was SO frustrated and upset that I burst into tears. At no point did the woman who was helping me apologize or suggest other ideas for documents I could present. This meant I now had to turn around and drive ANOTHER 40 minutes back to my house. All in all, I wasted approximately 2 hours of my day, and two hours of my son's school day. Tijeres is the WORST MVD I've ever been to in this state, and the woman who waited on me ought to be ashamed of herself. Horrible customer service! I am not a magician; therefore I cannot snap my fingers and produce official documents out of thin air. The CNM bill, home school information and Delta Dental bill (along with the birth certificate and social security card) should have MORE than sufficed to officially identify my son. This information needed for a "real ID" is NOT spelled out clearly on the New Mexico MVD website, and the onus is on THEM to make it clear that certain documents need to be brought in order to procure a "real ID." My son cannot board an airplane or keep a doctor's appointment without a state ID since he doesn't have a driver's license. My customer service rep also had the nerve to ask if he had a driver's license that could be used as a form of i.d with his address on it! Obviously IF he HAD a drivers license he wouldn't he applying for a state i.d. Talk about a Confederacy of Dunces! This MVD's staff is rude and unhelpful in the extreme. I will avoid them like the plague in future. I have never been so rudely treated at an office in this state before, and I am going to write a letter of complaint to the main office in Santa Fe about them. If I don't get anywhere with that I will take it up with the governor's office. I will not be treated this way as a tax-paying citizen.
