Everything seems well-made. The upstairs remains closed off, and as a result of that and the expansion of the snack area the space for exhibits is a bit smaller than some years back. But times move on... We like visiting, and we usually find something we want.

One thing you can always count on is delicious beach town like, special foods like fudge, fudge covered apples, ice cream... a variety of restaurants. This time there was a whole shop with unique honeys that you can sample and next door one with olive oils. If you haven't gone here, you must. It's right next to the aquarium.

I love the sailor bracelets and think it's a beautiful classic accessory. This store is in a cute building that has a small lighthouse design on the exterior. There were an array of items to choose from. Whether you're buying items to decorate your home or accessories to wear. There are classic bracelet styles to ones with a hook or anchor. For home, there are coasters, wreaths, and more. There are keychains, pet toys, etc. We enjoyed shopping around the store. We bought two bracelets and an anklet. There was a person making these items in store. It's well crafted and lovely; there were many colors to choose from too. If you're in Mystic, it's worth a stop to get a souvenir there!

Mystic Knotworks absolutely made my husband's childhood dream come true!…read more Ever since he was a kid, he wanted a braided bracelet--but there was always one problem: none of them would ever fit over his giant hands! We stopped into Mystic Knotworks, and even though it was closing time, they took the time to custom make one specifically for him. Not only did they make his dream bracelet fit perfectly, but they did it with humor, smiles, and the kind of kindness that you just don't forget. They could have easily sent us on our way since they were closing, but instead they made the experience so much fun and truly special. My husband finally has the braided bracelet he has wanted since childhood, and we cannot thank them enough. Incredible customer service, wonderful people, and beautiful craftsmanship. We highly recommend Mystic Knotworks!

They aren't the run of the mill kind of toys that you can easily find in Target or Walmart. You can tell that these items are thoughtfully curated for this shop. Both my husband and I were filled with wonder as we kept saying, "Ooo look at this!" "Look at that!" "I've never seen this before!" We walked around with my 5 month old, and although the store was filled with beautiful items- I didn't think we'd find anything worth buying for him just yet. Well, I was very wrong. The store owner was absolutely wonderful to chat with, and she kept making the most perfect suggestions for us. We ended up buying 5 items that we were giddy with excitement about. We had such a great time, I forgot to even take pictures! If you're looking for unique toys in a "mom and pop" shop feel- look no further than Toy Soldier!

We are in CT because my 10yo daughter is doing a ballet intensive at Loomis. Today we visited Olde…read moreMistick Village and were eager to visit this toy store because they have Jellycats. First of all, their Jellycats are behind glass, and they didn't have a big selection. Part of shopping for Jellycats is getting to touch them. I realize this may result in mishandling of the product, but in all of our Jellycat hunts, I've never seen any store display them like this. Additionally, they only had Bartholomew and a couple of other items. Very limited selection. While we were browsing, my daughter found a doll baby stroller that she rolled over to me excitedly, and immediately the saleswoman chided her. I was caught off guard, and admittedly embarrassed because I couldn't believe my kid was getting "in trouble" at a toy store -- especially when she didn't do anything egregious. My daughter didn't run into anything, knock anything over. But I'm also not one to start trouble, so I sternly told my child to put the stroller back where she found it. Mind you, it was out on the floor. She didn't unfold it, take it out of a container. She just took the one that one the floor out for a spin, and was immediately barked at by the saleswoman. It's a toy store, for crying out loud. If you're not equipped to handle children, you're in the wrong business.

There is a collection of anime, manga, origami kits, cloths, blind boxes, houseware, kitchenware, art and posters, figures, DIY kits, Funko pops, gatcha machines, and a plethora of other Japanese treasures. On the right of the store next to the outside deck with tables, there is a Japanese food market with authentic imported pre-packed Japanese foods like instant ramen, different kinds of Japanese noodles, Japanese grocery items, snacks and chips, sweets and candy and ice cream, Japanese drinks and anime theme drinks. By the registers, there are free arcade games to play. I took my time walking through the store and looking at everything. It could be overwhelming at first. I really liked looking at the Sanrio, The Studio Ghibli Collection, and Pokemon items. I learned after that Arisu means "Alice" in Japanese and it's a tribute to their first store "Alice in the Village" which is also located in Olde Mystic Village. If you're in Olde Mystic Village, definitely stop by and take a look at Arisu Anime and Alice in the Village.

Last time I went, I grabbed some imported ramen and a cute pair of chopsticks. I'm planning to bring my kids next time since they're obsessed with anime and ramen. I thought it was cool that they have a little spot where you can make your ramen right there, and some people were even eating outside on the patio, it just adds to the whole vibe. I did notice that some stuff, like the Hello Kitty ramen I usually get at Target, was more expensive here, but honestly, the variety, the atmosphere, and how nice the staff is make it worth stopping by. We'll definitely be back, and I'll probably end up buying even more stuff next time.
