This general store is located in the Olde Mistick Village. It is made to look super vintage. It had so many goodies and was fun to shop at. We bought some fudge; apparently they cook it daily, there are 21 flavors, and 300lbs are made a day! There are so many snacks! From fresh roasted peanuts, candies, chips, jerky, and more. There are pickles, books, toys, home decor, and more. It's a great spot to buy souvenirs and gifts for other people and yourself. This is a large store in the Olde Mystic Village shopping area that carries a number of food items from the region. Both CT and VT maple syrups, lots of store brand jarred goods like jams and chutneys. I saw plenty of bags from this store throughout the shopping area, so there does some to be 'something for everyone' although I did not find anything. It's set up like an old 'dry goods' shop you might find in a New England village. The aisles are narrow so passing people can be a squeeze. Shelves and bins are wood. It's a 'vibe'. Our friends picked up some of their fudge and they said it was 'buttery' and very tasty. Not being a fudge fan myself (sorry, I know, it's fudge! right?) I didn't try it, but my SO tells me a little goes a long way and it is tasty. They have several flavors to choose from. I think some of the food items for sale here would make nice additions to a gift basket or your pantry. Other offerings of candles, soaps and souvenirs are also available. I found the prices on the high side. Worth a look. read more

Wandering into this general store, I am amazed with the array of great products all around from different types of honey and ginger and hidden gems. The place is spacious and you can spend time on just one aisle alone. The prices are right and I even found little books based on year of birth. Service is patient and friendly. read more

I'm not going to lie, I was walking past this store, saw a sign for S'mores fudge, & immediately knew I had to go in. I merely glanced at all the offerings on the shelves as I followed the meandering path to the fudge. I may have been getting impatient when the people ahead of me were taking their time. (The path is not really meant for passing people.) The woman behind the fudge counter was helpful. I overheard her explain what Tiger Butter was to another customer and I was excited to try it. It's a vanilla based peanut butter fudge with chocolate drizzle. It sounded better than the chocolate peanut butter I would usually go for. I overheard another customer order the moose prints which I then looked for behind the display glass. I saw it had peanut butter cups & I was sold. So, with 3 flavors in mind, I had to get a medium box which came to little over a pound of fudge. I couldn't wait to try it! The Moose Prints was my first taste and it was delicious! I would for sure get it again. I tried the Tiger Butter next and it was exactly what I was hoping for. I understand why it was the fudge lady's favorite. And the S'mores. The one I went in for... was my least favorite (and sadly, it was the biggest chunk in my box!) The marshmallow wasn't as prevalent as I'd hoped and it was just overall underwhelming. I'm sure there's other items in the store but I couldn't tell you what they were. I think I saw some toys? Spices? Jams? Knickknacks? I just know I'll be back for more moose prints & tiger butter next time I'm in Mystic. read more

Another fun and interesting store to check out in Mystic Village. This place has just about everything, including warm roasted nuts (I choose pecans) which I could not stop eating while looking around the store. They have sauces, mustards, preserves, dressings, cheese, old time candies, games and all other kinds of things you did not know that you wanted or needed. Fun place to shop. read more

I am trying to catch up on reviews from my vacations in the pre Covid days. My sister mentioned the fudge from here and I decided I needed to get this review done. This is a great place to buy gift items, glazed nuts, water taffy and lots of old fashioned candy. The fudge is delicious and I tried quite a few different flavors on our vacation. Prices can be expensive but this is located in Mystic village and I feel everything is pricey here. I love this kind of place and can spend hours in there. Sauces, jellies, syrups. All the good stuff. Enjoy! **My sister mentioned they have plexiglass up now to protect customers. There is arrows in place to keep customers going in one direction. I've been going to this incredible and one of a kind store since I was a kid. I've since moved out of state and haven't been in over a decade. I recently visited while on a trip. It is just as I remember it! I stocked up on eBay I believe to be the best fudge I've ever had as well as the best salt water taffy I've ever had! Another standout along with all the incredible candy are the maple candy treats. Great books as well. I love this place! read more

This is a nice store in terms of the selection! Lots of different souvenirs, something for every taste :) However, it is very pricey! I only got two fridge magnets and they were $10...and they were among the simplest things in the store. read more

Once you walk in, You are hit with the smell right away. It's a very small store and it takes some maneuvering around a lot of people to know where you're going. It Has a very large selection of random things. I would say it is extremely pricey which is why we didn't get anything here. So I can't speak on the service. read more

This is a super cute store - in the age of Covid, it's set up to be one way so people can basically flow around to pass the register and exit. They will sell masks to anyone who has somehow forgotten or misplaced one. It does require a little patience because these are one person at a time aisles. Don't go in if you can't wait your turn. They have a lot of fun souvenirs, including postcards (to show off the Connecticut shore line, such as it is) and a lot of fun baking supplies. On a return trip, I definitely have to allow time to look at them closer. For those looking forward to Halloween, they have a great collection of local ghost books including two authored by the local Mystic Ghost Tours leader. A very cool store! read more

Stopped in while shopping in the Village this afternoon. Favorite place to get fudge as their fudge is incredible. Only customers in the store but we had to wait while the salesperson was cleaning the fudge case. It was good to see they were sanitizing all the surfaces. What was disturbing was to see the person putting the fudge back on the case with the same gloves on that were used while cleaning the surfaces, which included their actually touching the fudge with their gloves hands. Before I allowed them to wait on us I requested that they change their gloves which they did. I would recommend anyone purchasing from the fudge counter that they ask the salesperson to do the same just to make sure that you don't run into the same situation we ran into. read more

Super cute shop! Has tons of great homemade items from salsa to sauces and candies. We went straight for the homemade fudge and weren't disappointed!! Absolutely wonderful! Smooth, sweet and consistent! The guy behind the counter was extremely friendly and let us sample a piece before buying a lb. A women was about to walk in with her child and told she could not enter because child wasn't masked (child about 7). But it's completely fine to roasts nuts literally in the doorway with no warning signs on door. Had my child walked in masked or unmasked he would have immediately went into anaphylactic shock. Clearly people's safety it not taken into consideration beyond Covid. The fudge is good and reasonably priced. Cute general store but I prefer Mansfield county store. Overall meh. Just went into this store and saw numerous people with masks on with them not covering their faces. We are more then happy to wear masks but we forgot ours and most stores who require masks also have them available. I also saw multiple workers with masks down around their chins, even boxing up fudge. We picked out some things and made it around the store when a worker yelled at us that we needed masks. Not only was this very embarrassing but we offered to wear them, we just forgot ours. She told us to go buy them and was very rude. Sucks because I absolutely love the fudge here and we're regular customers but this is just embarrassing. read more

One of the best stores at Mystic Village. It's so diverse meaning they have so many different products such as fudge, homemade preserves to tshirts and books. I love the atmosphere here as well as the customer service. It's pretty easy to navigate around this store even though it seems small but I ended up buying homemade pumpkin butter and strawberry preserves for $4 each. I love CT because no sales tax on food! Cute store, friendly workers. However they are known for their fudge. There are no more samples available. Sad, because that used to be a good gage of my choice. I don't recommend the fudge. It sits out uncovered all the time, exposed to the air and is rock hard! Pieces are pre-cut, and not soft at all as fudge should be. I don't like rock hard fudge that has been sitting out all day. Nice shop to pick up some souvenirs or get some sweets. The fudge is okay but it's a little cheaper than I've seen it at a lot of places so I'm not super disappointed. The candied nutts were pretty good and the smell of them cooking at the entrance is awesome! Other than that they've got some shirts, books, and other grocery items you can pick up. I dunno. It's not a general store, but what you think a general store is if you only watch TV sitcoms. it has lots of food items, some worth trying. I liked the masking policy and I liked the one-way flow system. like, really liked it. I got the vibe from the books selection and the owner that he might be sort of leaning far right, farther than i would want to go, and that the store did not go as far as he would like to go. The books were interesting, and I found some counter-counter cultural stuff. Not one blue stripe on the flag, but several. i did not see a confederate flag, but did not look for one. I'd go back, but be somewhat wary about what's there. And, they do roast nuts, so probably should have a sign up. read more

You can smell the nuts as you are walking passed, so you have to go in. We bought some and they were hot and delicious! Mom was duped by the fudge so she filled her tourist impulse by buying a piece. She wanted a little taste, a small piece but they make you buy a large square. Oh well. I am giving this store 4 stars because they had a ton of edibles and canned goods that were made in Mystic or said Franklins on it. I like to buy stuff and support the local shops! read more

Fantastic fudge here. Plenty of little country trinkets for one to look at and purchase. When we stop here it's always for the fruit, jerky or the various selection of jams and jellies. I was fully prepared to purchase jams and vegetables from this establishment as well as fudge until I encountered a miserable employee who was just absolutely unprofessional. They give free fudge samples and the lady running the fudge just made my blood boil with how rude she was. Walked out of the store and went to the other general store in mystic village. Very unique store for tacky tourist gifts. But then again I'm just about local The fudge is ok. It's better at the seaport. But what really irritates me is customer service. Employees have no personality and not sociable, was ignored at the fudge counter and also when cashing out, didn't even get a thank you or have a nice day. I wish that I could give this store 5 stars, but I am subtracting a star for a not so friendly employee and the high prices of some of their goods such as $9 for a jar of salsa or pickles. I had heard Mystic was a great little blast from the past, but it's apparently too much of a blast from the past. They sell confederate flag items. I thought this store was adorable and I had racked up almost $300 in early Christmas gifts when I was approaching the register and saw a large rack of bumper stickers, one of which was a confederate flag. Racists don't get my money, so I put down all of my stuff and walked out. read more

Look at the pictures on yelp. They really do help capture what this store is all about. The folks who run the store and help keep it going are great people. All very helpful and friendly. Very accommodating to ensure return visits. Something I don't think should go unnoticed considering in today's society really good customer service is hard to come by. Will be back and highly recommend if you have never been here mark it on your to do list. They have something for everyone. read more
