Been craving a pie from here so we had to make a special trip past to do some shopping. If course we couldn't just get the pie. Had to pick up some other items, surprisingly for me. Got a couple more pumpkins small size.

We came here to taste their ciders and wine. The tasting barn is a very small space. We bought a flight of 4, 2 ciders, 2 wines We really liked the spiced cider. We also tried the regular cider, peach wine, pinot blanc. They also have a store where they sell their wine, cider, fresh produce , lavender and all kinds of lavender products (soap, bath salts, muscle rub) and some fresh baked goodies. We bought a bag of their chocolate chip cookies, yummy!

Cool place for sure. Came here on a ride to get out of the house for a bit. Prices are STEEP! For a farm market, I didn't expect the price tag. But, was shocked at how expensive their produce was. Always try to shop local, but $6 for two apples (by weight)? Come on....

Very cool little store that was right across from our Air BnB. I walked in thinking it would be just a tiny gift shop, but it turned out to be a nice little food store. The had a small, but quality variety of fruit, veggies, meat and other locally produced products. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I imagine that they have tons of seasonal variety based on the outdoor layout. We will definitely be stopping by again before we leave the area. This was a great find!

This little farm was a surprise hidden gem during our 1 week stay in the area. They have fresh baked goods daily and we got muffins and pies to try. My husband LOVED their blueberry crumble pie and ate a slice for breakfast every day! LOL They have a small store with some outdoor seating by the road with the bigger farm up the hill. During "normal" (pre-covid) times, I assume you can pick apples and blueberries. We went in late summer and the farm was pretty empty which worked out for us because we wanted to avoid crowds. They also have fresh cider donuts on the weekends which we hiked up to the farm to get and it was good. The staff was friendly and everyone had on a mask. We felt comfortable and safe.

I just love it here at Holmberg! Always such a great time with fantastic wines & hard ciders! Love the peach wine here, but sadly it wasn't ready yet so we will be on the lookout for the release date for that! Just so happened this visit was extremely busy! We came during Columbus Day Weekend, the weather was gorgeous and people were everywhere! Some were doing tastings but I think most were picking apples and pumpkins, along with hayrides and all that fun-filled fall stuff! They even had a stand set up serving WARM apple cider donuts and sweet cider beverages! OMG the donuts were out of this world amazing! So, so good!!! Went fabulously well with my hard cider! :) You have to stop down at the store before leaving. The fresh produce and the freshly baked goods are so delicious! You will NOT leave empty handed! Even their homemade candles are amazing and burn right down to an empty jar!!

Blackberries today ! - Blackberries are growing on a plant with green leaves, with clusters of ripe, dark purple to black berries. The plant is outdoors, with sunlight filtering through the leaves, creating a bright and natural setting. The background consists of more green foliage, slightly out of focus, emphasizing the berries in the foreground.

Holmberg is a great pick your own place near New London with everything from blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines, apples and pear in their seasons. Beautiful property with fantastic views, super clean and staff all friendly and helpful. The things you pick are top notch too. Some of the best you can get.

    Awesome glasses to keep!

Holmberg never fails to impress. We first found this business as their winery is on the Connecticut wine trail. But it is so much more than just a winery or an orchard. Today they had some special events going on and the grounds were packed fill of people. Loads of people were there to pick apples and pumpkins. Some of us were there for the wine and hard ciders! First review is for their winery. Five stars all the way! From grape wines to fruit wines they have it all. Our all time favorite is their peach wine, but there is absolutely something for everyone. After our tasting today we grabbed some cold hard ciders and went to a food truck that had warm fresh cider donuts (absolutely the best I have ever had, and being warm made them all the better! After our wine tasting and donut eating fun we had to stop in their store down by the road. They have so many things there from farm fresh fruits and veggies, to beverages, and of course their baked goods. These are goodies to rival your grandmother's baking! You absolutely cannot leave Holmberg without grabbing some delicious sweet treat for the road or when you get home!

Really cute orchard for your annual fall apple picking! We bought a bag for $20, which I believe is the smallest bag for 2 people and we got about 14 apples out of it. They have 6 or 7 different types of apples and a large orchard! They even have pumpkins and a little market with squash/ jams/ apple cider. It was a great New England fall activity. We went during the week and it wasn't very busy at all which was nice. Also- we wanted to try the cider flight but found out they're only open on the weekends.

So the annual trip to take the kids apple picking has been getting steeper every year......but now they won't even let you on the tractor up to the orchards unless EVERY person buys a $10 bag for apples.......oh wait there is a $35 option that admits 4 people. This will be my last year coming for sure. Gave 3 stars because the apple cider and donuts are delicious.......and at least their price isn't overboard .......yet.

I'm all for keeping business local. I love community based/supported agriculture groups, co-ops,…read morefarmers markets, and the like. While trying to find more of these among the community of new london, I found Pizello Brothers. Easily accessible from one of new london's most well traveled roadways, this market is the place to shop if you need a large scale of grocery items, or are open to a changing selection of many great things. The parking is in a loding dock area, and the steps take you up to the retail store. Many of the local businesses and restaurants source their grocery and supplies from here, and whatever is left over is sold at market cost which I have found is routinely cheaper than anywhere else. The perimeter of the store is cold storage, with a really great selection of olives, cheeses and fruits, along with premade meals and sides. I compare this to a small scale Costco of sorts, they have many things but it's usually not portioned for an individual or a couple. The middle has dry goods, potatoes, onions, spices, and cleaning supplies, along with many goya brand products. The front counter has more spices, a place to freshly grind hard cheeses, and an area for marked down produce, canned goods, and specials. I have always been pleased with the quality, service, and prompt response of staff to questions. I would love to see them carry some more milk alternatives and meats, but I know that's not really the scale they're catering to. Wonderful location, excellent prices, and quality products make this grocer a must have stop on my weekly shopping route.

Then one day we drove right by Grants, made a speedy u-turn, and trundled up to see what the deal was. At the front, there was a farmer's market of sorts with pre-picked produce at a slightly higher price, but with marked convenience. We were told it works by weight, and were handed baskets for raspberries, and buckets for blueberries, so off we went! The raspberries were first, with encouragement to taste as we went. The raspberries were plentiful, juicy, sweet, and soft, just bursting with flavor. After our baskets were full, we went to the blueberry enclosure, and had a great time picking the plump, tart berries in handfuls from the forehead height bushes, just teeming with the blue gems. There was also pick your own tomatoes and strawberries, but we were so excited to get home with what we had, it was enough for us! For two completely full baskets of raspberries, and a giant bucket of blueberries, it cost us a mere $7something. It would have cost us twice that at the market for just the blueberries! Cash only but a great price, and a super fun time, I would highly recommend it. Family friendly, easy access, and a perfect way to encourage healthy local eating, Grants is the best!
