The annual Sunflowers for Wishes event has been on my list of things to do for many years, and I was so happy to be able to experience it this weekend. It's totally free! Take your time wandering around this awesome swath of sunflowers. While this event is popular, you can find little nooks to snap photos with isolated flowers. There is one internal walking path, but you can also walk to the top of a hill (to get an awesome view) as well as the outside edges. There are also $5 rides through the sunflowers for adults and kids. We saw some dogs on leashes, too. Head back up to the main ice cream store and gazebo, where you can purchase a bouquet of sunflowers. The $10 goes to Make A Wish. Be careful before getting back in your car, though; inevitably, bees will be attracted to your bouquet! Be sure to check the farm's website and Instagram page for updates on the flowers' growth. The exact time of the annual week-long festival will vary based on mother nature.

We have visited the farm over the past couple of years. Many of the flowers this year in the field looked a bit wilted. The staff indicated there has been little water. We purchased two bunches of sunflowers at $10 each. We could not pick and choose as each bunch of 5 was handed to me. The flowers looked well past their prime. Previous years I could pick and choose which flowers I wanted as well as the number of flowers. No choice this year. I purchased the other bunch for a friend and was embarrassed to give them away since they looked really bad by the time I got them home. Oh well, it was for a good cause. The photo attached shows the flowers 3 days since purchased. Hope they are better next year.

I always happen to miss the sunflowers, but the ice cream is the main event for me anyways. Great spot to grab a scoop and take a seat

This was so fun! I've always wanted to go as I've seen Wicked Tulips featured on social media every…read morespring, and I I'm happy I was finally able to go. It's $25 a person to pick 10 tulips at their farm, which I don't think is terrible. You have to make reservations in advance, and they would not let you park if you did not have a reservation already booked, so be warned! Once you check in, you're given a token for your 10 tulips. You can pick any of them minus what's in the show garden up front, but you can walk through there and admire the flowerbeds. I'm no florist, but I was really impressed with the tulips they had. Some of them didn't even look like tulips! I was also pleased to see that most of these funky tulips were available to pick outside of the show garden, so I made sure to get some! The farm is really big and there's tons of flowers to pick from. If you pick more than your 10, it's a dollar per stem. Not bad! I stuck to my 10, and when you're finished you can pay $5 for someone to wrap it for you (it's for charity I believe) or you can wrap it yourself for free. They'll tell you how to do it though, and they'll give you your flower care game plan for when you get home. I was really pleased with the experience and I would definitely go again. They also had a food truck and a cupcake truck that you could've ordered from! They also sold merch and some tulip planting gear. What a nice operation!

The field was full of beautiful tulips and the atmosphere was breathtaking. It was just so refreshing, beautiful and relaxing. The only con was that there was no wine being sold but that's just my opinion. lol. You also can schedule a photo session to take pictures. Also there are certain areas of the farm where you can take pictures with a beautiful background. All tickets are sold online and I advise you to get your tickets early because they run out fast. There is an option to wrap your own flowers free of charge or you can get your flowers wrapped for five dollars, and the money goes to charity. My mother and I opted to get are tulips for the charity and we really didn't feel like wrapping are tulips. We had a great time and we would definitely be back every year for now on.

As far as I know, it is not certified organic, but the prices are higher than organic at stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. A very small cabbage was over $4. A bunch of radishes was $5.50. A 10-oz tomato was $3.99. The prepared foods are equally pricy, and vary widely in quality. A small tub of their "schmear", a mix of dairy and scallions that I add to potato salad dressing (it works well) is $8.50. A very small (for 2) peach galette was $8.95, but delicious and perfectly baked. A berry scone ($4.50) was a heavy lump of underbaked dough, a huge difference from the light, flaky, golden scones I get from Dagmar's in Old Saybrook. A ginger-pecan scone was better. A raspberry thumbprint "cookie" fell into pieces when I placed it in my pastry box ($4.95) -- it tasted good, but the texture was more like a lump of cold oatmeal. A single slice of house pizza ($7) made me sad -- the concept was good, but the broccoli was burnt and chewy. Most of their baked goods are too heavy and underbaked. The staff is friendly, warm, and welcoming, as well they ought to be. The parking is hideous -- cramped and inadequate, with no handicapped that I could see. The actual farmstand building is small, hot, and crowded at peak times. To sum up: I think most people assume the produce is organic, but there are no signs to that effect. The refrigerated prepared foods are generally tasty. The baked goods are a crapshoot, and at the prices, it's not worth the risk of their not being worth the money.

We were able to cut our own flowers fresh and they also had some already cut for us. They described options for greenery, how to cut certain flowers and just let us loose to pick and start arranging. We also had delicious morning glory muffins and coffee while we worked. We appreciated that assistance was available as needed but the class was not too instructional. Overall it was a really fun experience. Hopefully I'll be in town at a time we can take advantage of a farm dinner. Loved learning about the many options for outings at this beautiful farm for activities and appreciated they have opened up the property for activities.

On this sunny Autumn day, I just needed to get out and enjoy autumn in New England. I was thinking…read more'apples, I want some Macintosh apples'. So what did I do? I went on yelp and searched 'orchards'. Which lead me to Salisbury Farm. First of all, I know you all are thinking "Johnston?" This farm is right down the road from the Scituate art festival location. It's rural. This is not the Johnston I think of (sorry Johnston). Don't let the location dissuade you. It's lovely. A small store is located in a big old barn and sells gourds, pumpkins, soap, peppers, tomatoes, mums plus some merch, honey and more. Goats and a cow named Finlay (who I am obsessed with) are located just outside for everyone to enjoy. They also have some kid sized fun things to do right there by the barn. They also have a corn maze which I was interested in doing, but wasn't sure about, so I asked 'how big is your corn maze' and was told '5 acres.' What? Five acres? No way. I'm not sure how they measure that (I'm not a surveyor) but that sounded like a nice stretch of the legs and I was all in. We were given maps of the maze with our purchase, which is absolutely necessary. Without the map I have no idea how we would have gotten through. Honestly, we passed two women, going the wrong way, who said they had been in there for 45 minutes and couldn't find the way out. They did not follow the map. For all I know they are still in there. We spent about 30 minutes in the maze (I'm a good map reader) and then walked on over to the pumpkin patch. Most of the pumpkins are at the barn, but it was a nice walk and we passed fields of strawberries (out of season in October). In the Spring I'll check back for their strawberry harvest. The sunflowers are past their prime in October, but last month you could cut your own sunflowers and I bet they were gorgeous then. The maze is not an inexpensive experience, but it is something you only get to do in the Fall and it does support a local farm, so for me it was worth it and I had fun. The corn crop this year is having some difficulty (2024). Much of the maze is tall and conceals all as you would expect. Parts of the maze however are not dense and the farm has a sign up in that section with information about their plans to amend the fields for next years crop. There are a lot of signs throughout the maze: Jokes Emergency flags to wave if you are totally lost Four emergency exits Information about Halloween and the farm. There is also a raffle with your purchase so ask at the store about that. Two picnic tables are near the entrance/exit. If you have a group this could be your meeting place if you are separated or if you have little ones, you can hang out here while the bigger ones go through the maze. Bring snacks. Enjoy the day! I did get to buy myself some Macintosh apples (for those of you wondering). We were here on a week day, so it wasn't a full tilt, weekend extravaganza. I am thinking on the weekends it's a lot of family fun in the Autumn.
