Ironically, even with having 2 young grandchildren, I don't usually have the occasion to enter a…read moretoy store. I typically make online purchases, but with ONCE UPON A TIME TOYS, how could I avoid it? I love the store name, and it was right there in front of me in quaint, charming Stowe, VT, so I went in. There were a great many unique toys, games and children's gift ideas at this store, but it was overwhelming to me. The sales associate was very friendly, so I asked her what she'd recommend for a 1 year old girl and something "Spiderman" for my 4 year old grandson. She immediately presented me with a cloth doll, and a little boat with Spiderman in it that when wound up in water (like in a bathtub), it would zoom across the water. I took them both !! My granddaughter was interested for a few minutes and moved on to something else because she's only 1. I'm quite certain the little doll will have greater appeal to her as she gets older. My grandson was soooooooo taken with his Spiderman boat that he broke it before getting to test it out in the actual water. He's 4, and listening to directions is not part of his skill set yet, lol. Regardless, if we're ever back up in Stowe, VT, I'm sure we'd return to this store to see what else we could find for my grandchildren !! Great little store with lots of unique toys for kids !!

The…read moremarketplace is a pedestrian zone that spans a few blocks and is filled with shops, restaurants, and cafes. It's very pleasant to stroll along Church Street, especially in the summertime and there are plenty of benches where you can sit and people watch. Church Street Marketplace has a mixture of chain and local stores. You can find everything from used books, to outdoor gear to name brand clothing. My favorite stores at Golden Hour where you can find lots of cute gifts, Smugglers Notch Distillery where you can sample delicious vodka, gin, bourbon, and maple liqueur, and Flora & Fauna - a second floor store filled with curiosities and oddities. Unfortunately, The 10,000 Villages store that I always enjoyed visiting, the Sox Market, and the Earthbound Store that I always found beautiful clothing in have all closed. There's also a great Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop on Church Street, several restaurants in a range of price levels, and some very comfortable cafes. Definitely a place you will want to spend some time visiting when you are in Burlington.

Alongside some of the popular restaurants, they also have iconic Vermont brand stores like Vermont Bear Factory, Vermont Flannel Shop and Ben & Jerry. We also visited a Patagonia store, a bookstore, Catamount store for apparel and gifts, and bunch of other stores. Prices are decent, some stores have sales and discounts. It appeared decently safe, though there were some homeless people around the marketplace. The street parkings need to be paid with ParkMobile app during the posted hours. There are several hotels only few minutes walk from this place. There's also a parking lot nearby that offers 2 hours of free parking.

I am not stealing from your store, in fact I probably spend anywhere from $800-$1,000/month at your store. To be charged at in front of other customers and accused of not ringing in products that are clearly on my receipt is not only embarrassing but just degrading. I don't appreciate it and especially in front of my daughter who is Autistic and nonverbal. I know this review will fall on deaf ears but if I didn't have to go to Walmart in Berlin due to it being one of the only options in the area, I would not be a customer.

Get used to a highly repetitive diet. Bakery is overly sweet. Food overall is a little pricier. No real sales as with the high-low supermarkets. Most of the fresh fruit is inedible. Just try ripening a peach and compare it to the succulent beauties at Shaw's! Despite my highly repetitive diet, they are chronically out of stock on one thing or another. They use an unnamed 3rd party delivery service, and they are literally (nickel and) diming me to death with all the single foods getting its own bag! This added 10 cents each to my cereal and to my frozen pops for getting their own bags. The Vermont bag fee is about reducing bags by charging 10 cents to DISCOURAGE USE OF BAGS ON SINGLE ITEMS. The delivery service either does not know this or does not care.
