I find the comment by Dave H on 4/2/11 appalling concerning the Old Dairy and a Health Issue. I live in Macomb and have had dined here over 100 times. I have never had an issue with Service, food, or anything. The restaurant is exceptionally clean. I have yet to have a bad meal. The service is outstanding - the staff is always friendly and courtious. Ketra has always been cordial to me and I have never seen her respond negatively to any customers. I spent 20+ years in the Restaurant Industry. I was certified in Restaurant Sanitation. I find it VERY hard to believe a statement that says the customer(s) spent several hours in the Emergency room due to a food borne illness. The McDonough County Health Dept would have notified the Old Dairy and immediately been in to inspect / investigate this claim. I personally checked with the Health Department and they stated The Old Dairy has a very good inspection record. The Old Dairy serves 1000's of people a year. It is located in Macomb, IL, the hometown of Western Illinois University. They service Students and their parents, as well as local residents and travelers. If the statements David H said were true, I am sure they would have been out of business years ago. read more

Some friends and I visited a place called The Old Dairy in Macomb Illinois recently and we were set back after seeing the way food was being handled. The food was awful. We asked for a refund and we were ordered out. Later in the day we had all become ill from the food, and took turns waiting in the emergency room of a nearby hospital. The owner, Ketra Kuniej refused to respond to our complaints. I found they had history of health issues. This place should be closed. If you are traveling in the area stay away for your own health. I do not know how a place like this can stay open. It should be called the old dirty barn instead of dairy. read more

My family has been regular customers of this family owned restaurant for years. The atmosphere is cozy - you can use the wifi, sit on the couch and play a game of chess, or have a get together with friends or family in the back room. The food is delicious. Sandwiches, soups, salads, pastries, and ice cream. It is spotlessly clean, the workers are friendly. It's like home away from home. I live out of town, and every visit to Macomb involves a family get together at the Old Dairy. It is the community meeting place for townies who stop in for a cup of coffee or a bowl of soup. I began frequenting The Old Dairy when it opened for business several years ago. I stopped in several times a week for breakfast, lunch, a cup of coffee with a friend, or ice cream. Over several years of eating there regularly, I can only remember delicious food, and gracious staff who are willing to accommodate almost any request. A few years ago we moved from Macomb, but every time we go back, we have to visit The Old Dairy for lunch and we always enjoy the chance to see old friends. My children even still say it's their favorite restaurant after 3 1/2 years of living in a larger city with many restaurant options! read more

My friends and family love eating and gathering at The Old Dairy. It is a very friendly place to take out of town guests. I am part of a coffee group that meets there three times a week and believe me, we would not be there if it was anything like mentioned in the above review! All of the staff are very friendly and food delicious! Just yesterday I was there for a Birthday lunch with some friends! It brings back so many memories back to the time it was actually the Macomb Dairy and as kids we would go there for Ice Cream Cones and field trips for our 4-H Club. read more

Looks like a nice little coffee shop when you first walk in, comfy leather couch and chairs, several small seating areas. It smells WONDERFUL! They have their own coffee. A cup of coffee costs $3 which I thought was high, but it is bottomless. As you go further into the restaurant the room opens up to be a larger area, more of a diner. The menu is nice with cold sandwiches, soup-of-the-day, salads. I paid $6 for a cup of soup (an actual coffee cup full of soup) and a cup of coffee. Both were delicious. read more

Kathy S must be related to David H because their reviews are about identical. TOD is the place to be when you are in Macomb and want a terrific dining experience and a warm relaxed atmosphere. They have a friendly staff and the food, well, it's fantastic! I have tried almost everything on the menu at some point or another and it's all a wonderful, tasty treat. I love this restaurant, I've eaten breakfast here since I started attending WIU last year. The french toast is my favorite breakfast item to get. It's so decadent, delicious, and overall amazing. I have also eaten her for lunch and dinner. Sorry, Mcdonald's is gross in comparison, with their powdered eggs, and such. Go to the Old Dairy and try the homemade pie too, my favorite is the German Chocolate. I've never had pie like this! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! LOL read more
