The Duncraig went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend spectacular. Caroline and Don are…read morenot just proprietors, but the heart and soul of the Duncraig. They are vital to what a wonderful experience it was to have them host me, and my family, as the bride to be before my big day, as well as my husband and I following our wedding. I would recommend any bride make the Duncraig part of your wedding. It's big enough to host a reception on the manicured grounds, but also very intimate with a luxurious private honeymoon suite. Additionally, any traveler looking for the southern charm of an immaculately refurbished manor in the best historically preserved town in NC should put the Duncraig as a must stay. The hospitality, food, and atmosphere were 5 out of 5. Thank you Caroline & Don, we can't wait for our next visit!

Jessica greeted us in the parking lot outside and showed us inside and gave us the grand tour. Our room was the largest one- with the biggest bathroom too and just inside the front door. Perfect for us! Across from our room was the sitting room where her father (who was visiting) was working on a puzzle. The father greeted us warmly and said we could help with the puzzle if we would like. Noted*, there was a small hall way with stairs going up to the other rooms, and half bath & into the dining sun room. This is where breakfasts would be, coffee, tea and snacks were available whenever you wanted and the house was simply charming. There was a formal dining room too- I loved the antiques and historic quality in the decor. Jessica and her husband bought the Duck Smith House a couple years ago and they were both very generous with any help and information. I did partake in the puzzle and helped finish it. The breakfasts were simply delightful! Our first morning, she made apple sourdough pancakes that were an inch thick (at least)! And the bacon!!! Day two was quiche- one of my favorites and day three was waffles with stewed apples. I overheard Jessica telling someone else that she tries to rotate between sweet and savory for breakfast. John and I also enjoyed all the kitties, the goats- I fed them some grapes! and I loved the pumpkin patch they had set up for the weekend! John even went out to Justin's model shop. I hope I get to stay here again, because I absolutely loved it!!!

Suzanne and Barbara are two sisters that run this place, they are the nicest people I've ever met! They basically seem like your loving grandma taking care of you. They have kept and maintained a 100% sanitary environment from the health department, & I would believe it. They turn down the bed and tidy up your room, vacuuming, refreshing towels and garbage everyday as well as an ice cold pitcher of water daily! I stayed for 4 nights 5 days & they were very welcoming and friendly the whole time. Every morning you basically get an amazing fruit starter and even more amazing breakfast entree, everything is home made!!!!! Together, these sisters always created delicious breakfasts that make me never want to leave. YES I would stay just because of their amazing food. Overall THIS is the place to go!!!

We were excited to play a course that was a classic Donald Ross design and host of the 122nd LPGA US Open won by Minjee Lee. An exceptional course in every way. The Fairways are plush with green grass. The greens were well manicured and cut nice and close to create fast conditions but not overly so. A challenging design with many of the green side and fairway bunkers Donald Ross is known for. A beautiful course with some exceptional views and an overall great golf experience. I've played over 100 courses from coast to coast and would place this in the top 5. I'm already thinking about planning my next trip to play this course again.
