Ian took great care of us. Very friendly and gave us some ideas on where to explore in the village. Very good selection of local brews.

LOVELY! The bar is so beautiful. I came here with my parents whilst visiting Greenwich park and they have a lot of outside seating but we still had to act a bit like vulchers and attack the first table available. We have skills like that. Anyway, we ordered our food at the bar and it came out like any British Sunday roast would- with bells and whistles and all the hoody hawdy you can imagine. No but really, the roasts were freaking beautiful and we didn't even order a proper one! The chicken was insane and the veggie was FREAKING DELICIOUS! The beef or pork (or whatever a normal Sunday roast looks like) was insane looking. I was THIS CLOSE to taking a pic of the person's next to us, but I restrained myself. Can't say I have the same self control with puppies. So, to wrap things up, it's a lovely, proper, and proper delicious pub right next to Greenwich park with plenty of outside seating on a nice rainy summer day. ;)

I love this place. Sure, it's in Greenwich which is a million miles away from anything (unless you live in Greenwich), but if you like local history and beer, The Old Brewery is your new wet dream. True story. Featuring some of the best beer in the ENTIRE WORLD behind the bar, and with the best of Meantime's beers on tap, this place will blow your mind. They have Meantime's brewing equipment on display (and they actually use it!) plus a massive timeline of London's history with beer on the walls, AND a huge beer garden! I can't see how this place could possibly disappoint you. Go and eat, drink, and be merry. It's the perfect place to go for a day out in Greenwich.

Great food! Love the small plates. This is the Halloumi croquettes.

While you can hang out in the crowd and grab a pint easily without that, if you want to dine in the quieter dining area with views of the water you may want to do so as well. Especially if you want the elbow room to enjoy such great food. The Mayflower is named after the famous ship carrying the early American settlers, and the church tied to this voyage is steps away where apparently an unmarked grave hosts the resting spot of the captain of that ship. It's candlelit and kind of romantic on the top floor with great views. For food, my wife had the chicken pie and I had the special of the day, lamb stew with housemade potato salad. It was warm, flavorful and delicious, sentiments my wife shared on the pot pie. We split an order of mac and cheese, and it was also delicious. Such great comfort food. I had a small scotch pour and an ale, my wife a glass of wine. I had a small port to pair with the sticky toffee pudding at the end which was terrific. My wife swears by Gordon Ramsey's recipe of the same but this one was hard to beat IMO.

We ordered onion rings to start, the breading on them was amazing! It was light and crispy as opposed to being heavy and greasy like a lot of onion rings. I also loved the curry ketchup that came with them. I'm not generally a curry fan, but it definitely worked with this dish. My husband got fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and the tarter sauce was obviously house made because it tasted very fresh and lemony. The chips were fine, but unremarkable in my opinion. For my meal, I ordered pumpkin walnut gnocchi. It was delicious! Just enough pumpkin without being overpowering. There was quite a bit of kale (I think it was kale, the menu didn't say) that came with the dish. It was very good, but probably could have been dialed back a little. The service was friendly and prompt. Definitely a great way to start our London vacation!

The establishment has a nice mixture of cozy and airy, which was perfect for a lazy(ish) Sunday. I hate to use this word, but I'll use it anyway (because I can't think of a better descriptor): the service here is "super" friendly, and very knowledgeable, particularly regarding the ales on tap. The barkeep gave us a few sample pours without waiting for us to ask, which we greatly appreciated. Because of that, we were more than happy with the pints we ordered. Moving on to the food: the roasts were delicious, in particular the pork loin, which was moist and flavorful. I enjoyed my roast beef as well. The Yorkshire pudding was wonderful and I might have been just as happy eating that alone for my meal, to be honest. The pub is in walking distance of the touristy areas of Greenwich, so it's easy enough to put some good food in your belly and continue on to your sightseeing, afterward.
