Nice pub in the center of town. I did not realize how big it was until I walked inside. This place is know for their wings and they looked and smelled good coming out of the fast paced kitchen. They also have pizza and other items that are cooked in their brick oven. While I did enjoy my dinner, the service was a bit lacking. I never received my starter and never had an opportunity to order a second beer. So I went elsewhere after I finished my dinner. read more

This place is a great spot! It's like stepping into the past. The food was good and reasonably priced. Service was cute and friendly! I would stop buy again but UK is now fill with to many international trash. Sad what the Brits have allowed to happen. They are now a minority in their own land. read more

So many pubs, so little time! That's how I'm feeling lately, but thankfully the Old Auctioneer did not disappoint. This is a nice little pub that had surprisingly good food. We came in on Sunday night after 5pm and their special at that time was the 2 for 1 Chicken Wings. We got the smaller portions of buffalo wings and their home made sweet sauce along with fries and their dough balls with garlic. The dough balls were ok. A little tough for the size dough so i'm not sure I would order that again. Also, for someone that loves garlic like me, I found their dipping sauce a little too garlicky. However, we came for the wings and they were really tasty. Service was good and I was glad to see more than one server going around to the tables. We didn't have enough room for dessert but given the good wings we'll definitely be back to enjoy those on Sunday nights when we're in the mood for chicken wings! read more

FOOD: The wings! The Buffalo Wings are fantastic and I say this as someone who has eaten a lot of wings in a lot of places. I'm a big fan of the chicken Caesar salad and have it quite often. This is a huge salad - truly entree sized and in no way leaves you hungry. If I had any quibble with it, I might say it was slightly overdressed but only slightly. The burger, which I've also had previously, was OK - certainly sizable if that's a burger criteria for you but it was a bit too heavy for me, with the meat being very closely packed and dense. Excellent chips as well. I can also speak highly of the calzone calabrese and sticky toffee pudding. Consistence in quality in all cases. STAFF & PLACE: the staff has always seemed friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and tidy and tables aren't too close together (which is happening in more and more places these days). We've always been seated right away without a wait even without a reservation but it's usually just the two of us. On the occasions when we've brought more people (especially more than 4), we've always made a reservation JUST in case. As soon as we discovered the Old Auctioneer, it became one of our go to places - and every time we get an order of the wings, we are glad we found it all over again. read more

From the US (Boston) and was blown away on the wings. Burgers are huge, dough balls with garlic sauce was on point. Service was great from the general manager and bar staff. Came in for a second night and remembered our drink orders. Try the wing pizza. Wish I had room for the cheesecake that everyone was raving about. read more

We were recommended to this pub by the hotel we were staying in as we didn't want to have to walk far. We hadn't booked but asked how long we would have to wait for a table and were told half an hour. Our party consisted of 8 people from 10 to 72 years of age - half an hour wasn't unreasonable for either my young son or elderly mother so we had a drink in the bar. An hour and a half later - after several unsatisfactory visits to the restaurant manager we were finally seated. The doorman was superb - trying really hard to hurry our table along and the waitresses were very polite and helpful; however, the overall level of service was poor based on our waiting time (we wouldn't have waited had we been told it was going to take that long) and the standard of food when we eventually got it. The pub is evidently keen to receive feedback; however, having emailed them nearly 2 weeks ago I am still waiting for a reply.......very disappointing. read more
