This review was written in August 2011. Lovely waterfront B&B. Our one bedroom suite had a…read morewaterfront view and was well appointed. The bed was oh so comfy. (The sleeper sofa not so much but was ok for small kids. Ours are 3 and 8.) Lots of beach toys for the kids. The hosts made a delicious breakfast and brought it our suite so we could eat in our pj's. So much better than usual B&Bs that you need to get dressed for to eat breakfast. I may need to go back just to get the recipe of those apple pancakes. We stayed here for one night on a trip around the Sunshine Coast but could have easily spent a few nights here. If you need a place to stay in Sechelt and are looking for a quiet and cozy place, this is a great pick.

My son was sick this week so I inquired about the cancellation policy "IF WE DECIDED" that we couldn't go. They advised me of the policy and also mentioned that other couples were interested in the suite for the same weekend. My mom had agreed to babysit if my son was still sick by that time. After they told me the policy I emailed them back IMMEDIATELY and told them that I would be keeping my reservation and I would "See you on the third" They replied "Great see you on the third" Which I understood as an acknowledgement that everyone understood that we were keeping our reservation. An hour and a half later they emailed me to tell me my reservation was cancelled and my deposit refunded. I replied right away and asked "Why did you do that I thought we agreed that I was keeping my reservation? All I did was INQUIRED ABOUT THE POLICY" and they said "ITS ALREADY DONE" I sent two more emails that were never replied to. Sounds to me that one of they other parties that inquired about the date we reserved was more important to them. Did they book additional nights? Did they want the spa package? Whatever your reason for cancelling our two month old ANNIVERSARY reservation one week in advance is abhorrent. I have been to this bed and breakfast before, and even wrote positive reviews on it, which I now regret.

While this particular hotel isn't in the same league as a luxury five star hotel, for the area and…read moreintended clientele I'd give it a five star rating. The location is rather cute with the back units facing Porpoise Bay directly below. It's full of duck and geese at low tide, with a marsh on the other side by the overflow parking lot -- it's all kinda funky! And oh, if your car's back up sensors are beeping, it's probably a goose waddling by. If it's not waddling it might be leaving little deposits! The units in 2025 just underwent renovations with apparently further improvements coming to the property (the check-in area perhaps). While the rooms aren't huge by any standards (we had a double bed room) decor and layouts are clean, modern and pleasing to the eye and functionality of use. Thru wall air conditioner units, while occasionally noisy, work well. The bedding is comfortable with good pillows, sheets and comforters. The dedicated cleaning staff do a great job -- though the center hallway by the supply room gets a bit crowded in the afternoon. The bathrooms are totally up-to-date, the toilets work well, the bathtub/shower setups are awesome (for those who find that important). The waterfall sink tap is a nice touch but at partial water flow the water drips down the tap pooling on the countertop. I noticed the modern wall pegs for towel hanging while bathing were coming out of the wall. When are renovators going to learn to place blocking behind drywall first? I did find the large window covering in our room, being a simple roller blind, was mounted over the window opening rather than inset. For the lower units with an outer walkway I felt it wasn't the best configuration for privacy. Also if your itinerary allows for sleeping in, it's probably best to get an upper unit as some travellers above you may be up early moving about. I don't know how cumbersome the stairs might be, etc. And hey, certainly the staff are entirely friendly and enthusiastic when we visited in the summer. Between 5 and 7 in the evening they will fire up the propane pit and bring out chocolate cookies and large marshmallows with a small stick. Um, bring your own napkins and hand wipes. There is very little parking directly at the front but a huge dedicated lot just across the road. I believe that lot has camera surveillance. There is a tent community a distance up the road currently, though there wasn't any apparent rift-raft where the hotel is located near the marina.

Biggest issue is that the room smells like tobacco smoke and it is supposed to be non smoking. Bathroom smells like there is someone smoking in it all the time - fan does not help. If you are concerned for your health, do not stay here. If there was a sink outside the bathroom, i would use it as the toilet because i can't use the bathroom. Carpet floor feels sticky to bare feet so DO NOT take off your shoes. All cloths in luggage will have to be washed even if not worn. 1 star is 1 too many.

Ah, yes, things have changed mightily since the last review in 2019…read more In particular, it was recently purchased by Evergreen Hotel Group after a notice of discontinuance in a foreclosure case was filed. Before Evergreen, and as is evident by the reviews, the hotel was run into the ground by a succession of unscrupulous owners over several decades. It would have been a tremendous undertaking at the best of times, let alone making the investment, and doing all the upgrades, in the midst of some pretty heavy-handed travel restrictions. I'm awarding this inn full marks, as it's succeeded in partially breaking the Airbnb stranglehold/monopoly on the Sunshine Coast hospitality industry, and hopefully motivating the other hotels to step up to the plate by its example; it has rescued an otherwise perfectly acceptable venue from total ruin; it has provided a realistic alternative to the ridiculously priced competition. The management and staff are the very definition of hospitable; the rooms are clean and modernized, and the view out to Trail Bay is spectacular. However, there's always a catch: it's clear that with the pandemic that this is still a work in progress, but what they have already achieved over a very short period of time is very impressive. Highway 101 runs in front of the building, but the noise doesn't detract from one's enjoyment, and the highway is mostly silent late at night. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
