Just pack light or request for ground floor if you have mobility issue. I don't think this was mentioned in their website. I wish I knew about it as I am recovering from an accident and still working on my strength. Lucky I only had an overnight bag so I could manage the stairs. I didn't request for daily cleaning since I was only there for 2 nights. I did overhear the staff telling a customer they don't vacuum the room and only change the towels. The customer was complaining the room was not cleaned at all. So something to take note of. My room was clean when I checked in. Otherwise the room is pretty good. I had a nice view of the pier though it was partially blocked by the tree outside. The AC could be more powerful. The sun does make the room warmer when the temperature outside is 23-25c. I love the bee kind range of amenities. They are nice. I also like the rain shower and handheld shower options. The front desk staff are friendly and they will also call the room to check if you need anything before they knock off for the night. There is no 24 hours reception here. I like the coffee machine in the lobby as it has more choices. Just have to wait till 8am when the reception is open. When the AC is turned on, I can't hear anything. But when it is turned off, I can hear voices from other rooms. But at night it is quite ok. No loud noises from inside or outside. I didn't really hear the traffic outside despite it being the highway. I will definitely stay here again. And you will need to car to get around Sunshine Coast easily. Only a few restaurants and shops in the area so you will definitely be going out and about. There is a bus stop next door though.

It's like a basement, dungeon type of feeling. There were water damaged marks on the ceiling and some mildew odor. I think the other part was that this room faces the seating area where the hotel restaurant was so you hear the noise and they can see you (if you dont have your blackouts and screen on) from the outside. When asked to change the room, they said they were fully booked. 5-7pm they have popsicles for the kids Also, on the website it mentioned you can get 2 hours of free kayak rental but the weekend we were there, they had a wedding so it was not open. Lame! When asked to speak to the manager, they put you on hold on the phone and then wait and they will say they spoke to the manager but in fact they did not because I was standing right in the lobby.

While this particular hotel isn't in the same league as a luxury five star hotel, for the area and…read moreintended clientele I'd give it a five star rating. The location is rather cute with the back units facing Porpoise Bay directly below. It's full of duck and geese at low tide, with a marsh on the other side by the overflow parking lot -- it's all kinda funky! And oh, if your car's back up sensors are beeping, it's probably a goose waddling by. If it's not waddling it might be leaving little deposits! The units in 2025 just underwent renovations with apparently further improvements coming to the property (the check-in area perhaps). While the rooms aren't huge by any standards (we had a double bed room) decor and layouts are clean, modern and pleasing to the eye and functionality of use. Thru wall air conditioner units, while occasionally noisy, work well. The bedding is comfortable with good pillows, sheets and comforters. The dedicated cleaning staff do a great job -- though the center hallway by the supply room gets a bit crowded in the afternoon. The bathrooms are totally up-to-date, the toilets work well, the bathtub/shower setups are awesome (for those who find that important). The waterfall sink tap is a nice touch but at partial water flow the water drips down the tap pooling on the countertop. I noticed the modern wall pegs for towel hanging while bathing were coming out of the wall. When are renovators going to learn to place blocking behind drywall first? I did find the large window covering in our room, being a simple roller blind, was mounted over the window opening rather than inset. For the lower units with an outer walkway I felt it wasn't the best configuration for privacy. Also if your itinerary allows for sleeping in, it's probably best to get an upper unit as some travellers above you may be up early moving about. I don't know how cumbersome the stairs might be, etc. And hey, certainly the staff are entirely friendly and enthusiastic when we visited in the summer. Between 5 and 7 in the evening they will fire up the propane pit and bring out chocolate cookies and large marshmallows with a small stick. Um, bring your own napkins and hand wipes. There is very little parking directly at the front but a huge dedicated lot just across the road. I believe that lot has camera surveillance. There is a tent community a distance up the road currently, though there wasn't any apparent rift-raft where the hotel is located near the marina.

It had a master bedroom with a king size bed and the second bedroom had 2 single beds. Our party was 4 adults and 1 child to share 1 bathroom, but it worked out for us. The full kitchen allowed us to cook breakfast whenever we wanted. The living room has enough seating for all of us and it was it was an open layout that connected with the kitchen as well as the dining room. There's a balcony right from the living room as well as a window looking out to the ocean. It was such a beautiful view to wake up to each morning. I remember waking at up 5:25AM to go to the washroom and I was such in awe of the sun just peaking out from the horizon that I decided to stay up to watch the sunrise. There's also a children's playground on the main Parking floor. It's small, but sufficient and kept my daughter happy. The only thing that prevented Ocean Sands from being 5 stars is due to the wear and tears of the place. The 2 Lazy Boy seats had tears near the head rest and generally the place was on the older side. There's also a few areas that needed cleaning and attention outside. Other than that, we all enjoyed our stay and would stay here again when we visit Parksville.

The promotion brought the price down to $99 per night for those 2 rooms, which totaled $529. I gave them my credit card info to pay after my stay however, after checking the statements on my card, they overcharged me $100. I have called the company several times but staff told me they couldn't refund the $100, they said they would tell the manager but I've waited 7 days as of April 30, and still no response. Not to mention the state of the Inn was also lacking. They have very old and clunky appliances that barely work. My family of 4 didn't even have places to sit because only three chairs in the room but 1 was broken. The overall state of the room shows how little they cared about maintaining a clean living space as there were countless insects roaming around. Please don't make the same mistake I do, even if you do plan on staying here DO NOT give them your credit card information because they WILL charge you whatever they want.

Our rental was owned by the resort (as opposed to being owned by an individual, which some cottages are). We found our rental very homey. It was spacious and layed out in such a way as to allow independent activities in different rooms that didn't impact the other person. The "resort" in mid-winter was quiet. The cottages are arranged close together, and it's easy to look into the windows next door. It's a tolerant jaunt to the beach and Rathtrevor Provincial Park, though not ADA accessible. If ADA access is needed to get to the beach, drive to the park from the resort (about one mile). The beach and park are outstanding in winter. The resort staff were very helpful and downright chipper. When we checked in, they kindly and patiently explained what was to us a unique style of accommodation (cottage rentals in a resort). Complaints and concerns expressed during our stay were graciously received, also. The kitchen was very good; plenty of accouterments and appliances. Note that the only food in the kitchen was salt and pepper. Bring spare paper towels and napkins. Washer and dryer worked great, and included one load's detergent. Bring detergent. The fireplace was either on or off, no adjustments. It heated the cottage quickly. We never figured out any of the three televisions' remotes, which didn't matter b/c we didn't want to watch TV. Could have been fresh batteries were needed; spares are recommended, as we changed the dead ones in the cottage clock. Beds were okay, with plenty of blankets. Bathrooms were fine with plenty of linens. Lots of closet and dresser space. Great layout in the cottage; very easy to move around.
