We went to an outdoor wedding reception on a riverside. It's a good venue for casual group events.

This was about…read more10-15 minutes from campus (downtown Dahlonega) I attended a wedding of my friends Katherine and Chris at the winery - honestly I didn't taste any of the wine (yes I know, bad) but enjoyed myself. The venue is pretty spectacular with great views of the surrounding hills and valleys along with the vineyards as the hang of the side of the mountain. There were two aspects that pushed my opinion down a bit, neither are really the fault of the venue or business so I've stayed with the 5-stars. The wedding was held in an outdoor pavilion with great views, but during the first week of August quite hot. There are ceiling fans but they didn't help too much - I was sweltering in my jacket and tie by the time the ceremony ended (just be aware if you book something here during the hot season). The second, there are a lot of stairs as you are on the side of a mountain. If you have a hard time traversing a lot of stairs, there are other means of getting around so once again be aware. The main "hall" has windows with fantastic views. I thought the food was exceptional and wish I had taken more photos, but there were a lot of poor lighting (I was seated next to the dance area). My apologies for the missing check in and the lack of photos but I didn't want to be obnoxious at a wedding. Overall I love the rustic charm of this place and plan to return and more fully explore the wine offerings. I thought the service was exceptional with very accommodating staff, especially the bartenders.

Time on the invitations was 6pm and we were told that set up is at 5pm and we had to be cleaned up and out of the doors by 9pm. We obviously show up at 4:30 to prepare unloading and 5pm comes around and the owner "Chad" is no where to be seen. The bride, groom, myself, and multiple other attendees that arrived early to assist with set up were unable to reach the owner. At 5:45p what appeared to be a highly intoxicated "Chad" opened the doors, made a sarcastic joke, and left. I was APPALLED! We were left 15 minutes to decorate a wedding (tables, chairs, photobooth, bar, food, dance floor, music, etc.) and because of the owner we lost time of the reception because we were left with 15 minutes. I read in a review that the owner refunded $200 and played this off on his mother. Taking accountability. You quite literally ruined my best friends reception and you want to give her a half-a** apology and not even half back what she paid for the amount of stress she was put through. There was a clear contract and it was breached. Highly do NOT recommend! Also all the lighting fixtures on the columns are different hues and colors and do not make for uniform photos. The owner was late and the venue was underwhelming and the owners response to everything is almost worse!

Yes, there is a staircase and no, the kitchen is not ideal for a caterer to work in but these should not be deal breakers. My caterer is very good and handled it just fine. We did not have our daughters wedding ceremony in the Market Place, but I trust if we had Chad and his crew would have repurposed the room quickly and efficiently. He DOES have a contract. He always answered my emails within minutes, I was never once stressed dealing with him. FYI, we served a buffet for 137 guests and the size of the room was perfect!

Wonderful afternoon with great wine and service on October 26, 2026…read more My wife and I came to Montaluce Winery for an afternoon wine flight and appetizers on the relaxed atmosphere outdoor patio. We enjoyed the cheese and charcuterie board and a separate order of the focaccia bread. I'm happy to report not a drop of wine nor morsel of food was left after our visit. Our server was informed and able to discuss each wine selection at length and offered insight and perspective about meal pairings for future meals. I'm not one to head to YELP for reviews, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I came here seeking out what I was sure was a one star review from a belligerent group that was in attendance when we were there yesterday. Sure enough "Ayelet N." and her group left a nasty review and I'd like to offer a rebuttal as a patron who was there before, during and after their "patronage." From the onset of their arrival they were rude, obnoxious and entitled. They demanded to be sat at a table that still required bussing, even with several other equally scenic options available. Even while bussing was occurring, they continued to criticize the staff about how long it took to occur and how thorough it was. The way they spoke to the staff was downright belittling and inappropriate. They wouldn't have noticed over their own loudspeaker phone calls and music playing off their personal phones, but other patrons were apologetic to the restaurant staff on their behalf; commiserating with what was sure to be a tough group to deal with. The group drank plenty during their time and definitely did receive food while in attendance, which flatly contradicts their review. What she failed to mention was that she fully tried to give the waiter, they're 3rd at this point, a cooking lesson about how their flat bread should be cooked before it arrived. I said to my wife at this point there's no way this group intends to pay for this service today. They'll likely escalate until something/everything is fully comped. We even took a side bet to see if they'd leave before the check arrived. As they maneuvered about the patio taking photos, miss Ayelet even commented how intoxicated she was and unlikely be able to drive out of there. Unfortunately, the meal ended before it could begin for them. She sent the food back, with I kid you not a 5 minute instruction about how to make a flat bread to the waiter. It was degrading and if a manager had been present at the moment I think it would have been entirely appropriate for them to ask the table to leave. The poor server was calm and patient and received several words of sympathy from other tables as she made her way back to the kitchen to remake the order. At this point, they demanded a manager to begin their tirade and then promptly left after he calmly apologized for their dissatisfaction. I'd estimate they walked out having consumed $300+ The highlight was that the surrounding tables literally applauded as they left the patio. Their behavior was disruptive to the entire atmosphere and all the tables discussed it immediately upon their departure. I've never been at a restaurant where 20+ patrons are discussing how outrageous a group was after their departure. Her claims that they were treated unfairly or unprofessionally are wildly inaccurate. They acted as if they were the only patrons at the winery and interacted with every server who was navigating the patio service. The staff did their best to serve them fairly and even provided extra attention and servers to accommodate their behavior. If anything, my wife and I will return because we enjoyed the food, wine and atmosphere, but more importantly we watched the staff navigate a difficult situation with grace and humility.

We ordered 3 pizzas around 2pm and they made it to the table around 3ish. The waitress was spread thin which it was hard for her to come and see us. A couple of times we ran out of drinks but when she showed up we were taken care of. The restaurant and vineyard are amazingly well done and very spacious. The outdoor and indoor bar are first come first serve. However, if you want to be seated and enjoy a meal "MAKE SuRE TO MAKE A RESERVATION!" The only reason that I gave 4 stars it was because of the wait and the pizzas' arriving a little cold. I will definitely go back!

There's plenty of free parking all around, but I opted to park in the hotel's parking deck(s) - there are two with two different access points, one on the side and the other around the back of the building. In all this Holiday Inn Express was much like others I've visited - it's relatively clean with nice staff and modern fixtures. I had a room with a king-sized bed as I was traveling solo - the room was a bit weird as it was obviously designed with two beds in mind - the back half by the window was essentially empty except for a chaise. On the one hand, I liked all the room but on the other hand, I think they could have placed a desk or something a bit more useful back there (coffee table and seating, maybe) - but that's a quibble. I looked over the room a bit while there and the finishes were slightly sub-par, but overall not bad. The thermostat kept the room somewhat icy cold - I had to turn it up above 70 to make it comfortable. There are charge ports conveniently located at the night stands and a coffee maker and small fridge, typical of "suite" style hotels. The coffee machine downstairs is always available and serves better coffee so I'd recommend it over what's in the room. Breakfast included most of what you'd expect - bacon, sausage, small quiche-like baked eggs. I kept things light. On checkout, if you're an IHG member you get to spin a wheel for a free gift - in my case a free chocolate from a nearby store (which opened after my leaving so I ended up giving it to someone else visiting). Staff were efficient and answered all my questions. There's a pool and workout room in the basement - filtered water is available in the workout room.

Just complete the check-in paperwork online ahead of time as requested, give them your mobile number, and you'll be able to access your room and the historic building itself on your own with the codes they will text you. And with free parking, from the hotel you'll be able to walk everywhere in this beautiful, historic, university town in about 10 minutes or less - taking full advantage of its restaurants, shops, and gold museum. But oh, that paperwork!... It was really off-putting, with all these warnings about rules and penalties for breaking them (including fines and eviction for repeated noise complaints - although that's actually just fine with me). As the staff pointed out, though, everything prohibited has actually happened in the hotel. It turns out that Dahlonega is really two kinds of town - the sleepy town that I fell in love with, but sometime a party town! So if you're looking for the former, I recommend missing the mid-October Gold Rush festival, the Christmas festival, and (if you can find out) any destination-wedding dates.

Within minutes of checking in, the "faux" doorknob fell off. Leaving a hole in our door. My husband went to the hotel to tell them. The guy came straight over. After 1.5 hrs he suggested moving us to a room at the hotel, because he'd have to go to home depot to fix it. We agreed. I looked up the room difference. Rooms for king that night and next ran $119. We moved. And stayed. At checkout they offered me a $39 discount.??? Room difference was $39 a night? They said it was because they were booked and that's the rate? But they were not booked! And it was not my problem the door handle fell apart! They never attempted to fix anything, but the door handle that fell off... and I apparently paid for. Stir clear! Not a relaxing stay!
