How can you pass up on cute teddy bear and fishy cakes filled with vanilla or cinnamon fillings?!…read moreWhen you walk by the shop, you smell a delicious sweet scent and naturally stop. We picked up a pack of half bears with vanilla filling and half fish with cinnamon filling. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the cinnamon filming much more than the vanilla! I'd go back for the cinnamon fishes! They're great bite size treats to share too!

I ended up giving it to my friends to try and all of them liked it. A plus for the friendly service!

It was near closing time (6pm) and one of the employees was standing outside the entrance to let customers know they weren't allowing any more customers into the store, which I can understand but the way she spoke and her attitude towards customers was just awful, she had absolutely no manners. There was a customer that wanted to just buy one thing but wasn't able to because they just closed and was rudely turned away. Next, I heard the lady on cash gossiping with the employee at the entrance about the customer that just left. I understand that they had to turn away customers because they were closing but she should really try a different approach or maybe that's just the way she naturally communicates with people, rudeness!. Employees should also never bitch about customers while other customers are present in the store, this is so unprofessional and extremely rude!

I made an effort to come back in store to check out what they had to offer inside! It's filled with fresh pastries baked in house, lots of local goodies/ brands and a small selection of fresh produce. I came in the winter so could also attribute to the small selection of produce that day. You can even find local meats in their large fridge/ freezer section. I came to buy some local honey which I found at a reasonable price. Everyone that came into the store seemed like they were regulars around the area. I'd come back for more stuff in the future if I'm in the area. Love supporting local and love having local products in my grocery hauls.

There were even KFC chicken flavoured Lays chips during my visit! My favourite was the Kinder Bueno ice cream cone (yes they also sell ice cream!). I will definitely visit again as they constantly import new snacks. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. The only downside I can think of is that the prices are a little bit on the high end but overall it's a great place to find some exotic snacks!

I was doing my usual perusal of places to order takeout a couple of days ago. I noticed Snack Town…read more It was new to me. I did a search and it's five minutes away from where I live. I looked at what items were available. It offers exotic snacks and beverages, from Pokemon and Snapple drinks, to KitKat and Lay's chips from around the world. This store had items that were up my alley that I decided to schedule an order for pickup after work on Wednesday. On the Uber Eats app, I ordered the following: - Strawberry kiwi Snapple - Pomegranate raspberry Snapple - Oreo white Milka - Strawberry Fanta - Mocha chocolate KitKat duos - Lemon KitKat (buy one and get another for free) - Hazelnut cream chunky KitKat bar Prices are reasonable for many hard-to-find imported goods. I was pleased and scheduled my pickup for 5:15 pm. This store is where Sneb Cafe used to be. The sign is still up and I assume that its removal is being worked on. Snack Town is next to Mr Chimaek and across from Pizza Pizza. There is only one way to get in and out of this plaza. Access is along Lee Avenue, close to Kennedy Road. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into one in front of the store. You need to ring the doorbell to enter the store. A man opened the door and was friendly. I said my name and rattled off my order number. I had two bags of goodies. One contained my cold drinks. The other had my chocolate. I asked whether I could browse because I was in a candy trance at this stage. He was perfectly fine having tourist me take a look. I was in sugar heaven! I love Tic Tac candies. The Coca-Cola ones were available for a limited time. I had them a few years back and loved them. I need more! You get the world tour with Fanta. The lemon variety is from Denmark. Green apple hails from China. Shokata (elderberry and lemon) is from Denmark and is on my list to try next. I got the strawberry because I am a strawberry freak and I've never had the Fanta version of it. They do have Lay's and ramen flavours that you can likely get at a local Asian supermarket. I was temped to try the Nongshim lobster ramen, but I will see whether I can find it at a supermarket and compare that price to what this store is offering. I do like that when you are indeed craving Pocky, you can get your fix here. I love Pocky. And, yes, I enjoy the strawberry (trend?). There is also a decent selection of cereal flavours. It has Elf on the Shelf and Rice Krispies holiday cereal. I was impressed. I have devoured the lemon and mocha chocolate KitKat bars. Delicious! I put them in an insulated bag with my drinks when I picked up my order and they didn't melt in 29°C weather as I ran some errandds. I am having the Oreo white Milka next. It's apparently a rare bar to find. I haven't seen Milka since I was in Denmark and Sweden, so I had to get it. I let the nice man know that I thoroughly enjoyed browsing around his store. He was thankful. I appreciated the handwritten note that I got with my order. It was a nice touch! It's so dangerous having sugar heaven so close to home. My dentist's office is a couple of blocks away, so I have my sweet tooth and tooth fixes under control. I dig Snack Town. I'm a fan. (210)

Talk about a hidden business. Ana's Pastry is one. This pastry shop is located in downtown Richmond…read moreHill, but is hidden from view and situated in a not-quite-decrepit, but certainly not the tidiest... parking lot.. behind a few other businesses! You know how all the greedy developers and mall managers have built peripheral buildings on their parking lots to add tenants and made parking spots even more scarce? This is the small business version of that. The shop is painted bright pink to attract attention, but who would see it unless he is in the parking lot already? So, having noticed it because I was parked in that messy parking lot I walked in out of curiosity and found a mid-sized shop with a few dried goods, dry cookies, a few cakes and multiple kinds of pastry. There is one perfunctory table by the door - even though they have the space for a few tables they do not take advantage of this option presumably because of a by-law or perhaps a lack of beverage options - and the fridges with their sweets in them. There were no customers when I entered. They had a few items I did not recognize, but I believe all the cookies and pastries are Iranian, which of course are occasionally twists on Western pastries. I picked up three items comprised of flaky pastry and cream puffs and liked all of them. They were fresh and delicious. They are neither out of this world in taste nor the biggest pastries around, but they were tasty and, for the smaller size, less expensive than elsewhere. I am interested in going back, but would suggest they add a few cards or explanations to their trays or fridge glass as just by looking at their offerings it was not possible to be certain what each item is.

Nonetheless, you still do need to enter their shop through the back on Church Street as it is quite a bit secluded from the main Yonge street downtown area. It's a shame that they have such limited seating area (only 1 table and 2 chairs), because I think the vibe and ambience of their place totally matches that of a cute coffee shop! I love going to Ana's pastry at the end of a long day for a quick pick-me-up. Their prices can't be beat, their sweets are freshly made every morning, and the sweetness level isn't overbearing -- they taste incredibly light and airy as a result. One of my favourite items is their شیرینی یزدی which is their Yazdi cupcakes -- a rosewater and cardamom cupcake with pistachio shavings on top as decoration. Ana's pastry also makes delicious custom cakes which you can order by calling in advance. I'm a big fan and I know I'll be back for more!

I request that my family only get me chocolate from this retailer, and give them specific instructions on which mix and match to order. Purdys no matter how it's ordered (online or by phone) manages to send me chocolates that I didn't order in my mix and match EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY GET THE ORDER WRONG! And I have to give away those chocolates. One of my friends bought me the coconut mango cream filled chocolates $12 for the 5 pack. I went to exchange it. I found out they have a NO RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY. The clerk stated, "even if you just bought it and changed your mind, I can't even exchange it for you." For chocolates as expensive as these are I would expect better. That's the worst policies for a high end chocolatier I've heard of. I would expect you to stand by your products, not tell your customers to suck up your distasteful failed chocolate "creations". My last reason for shopping here was the sustainable cocoa farming they spout about on the website, fooling into believing they have some ethical framework they follow. This unfortunately doesn't go as far as putting any efforts into stopping child labour from their cocoa producers. Hopefully we can grow a conscience, because with the prices you charge, you can afford to act ethically.

This Purdy's location is pretty busy because of the foot traffic in the mall. It also keeps longer hours than the one at Sheppard Center. I think they need more staff! Anyway, the experience was perfectly fine. I waited only a little while & then was served. I will say that I was expecting the chocolates to be put into a small box but they put it into a bag instead. A box would have been nicer. The chocolates are a bit pricey but I was okay with that.
