Sour pomegranate Turkish delight, knafeh cherry turkish delight

We happened to be in the area and really wanted to try this place based on reviews and their website. It is known if you want the best Middle Eastern anything, you go to Bridgeview area. The Nut House did not disappoint. I can confidently say that the Turkish delights were better than reputable places that I've had in the Middle East & France. They had such unique variations of Turkish delights, the pistachios in the center were so falvorful. And the baklavas were sublime, such unique variations. Both the knafeh Turkish delights (cherry), and the knafeh baklava as well as the almond baklava and cherry baklava were favorite. The staff was extremely friendly, we started with an idea of what we wanted, the kind lady helping us let us try several things that became instant favorites. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming, the staff is friendly and courteous. They even had good quality Jordanian Cardamon coffee to sample. This place reminded me of the things I missed most about spending a childhood in the South Suburbs of Paris... quality middle eastern food and deserts. I will certainly be back & it will be a go-to place to get gifts & deserts for parties.

It's very hard for me to leave this review as I really wanted to love this place (and I normally don't leave such a poor rating) - but the service was just terrible. I visited last month with my sister and I was immediately impressed by large selection of turkish delight and other candy. Halal gummies are hard to come by and they had plenty to choose from! But...there were flies buzzing around the turkish delight behind the glass pane. Still...worth a try I guess? However, service was incredibly slow. What should have been a 10 minute or less in-and-out visit became 40 mins of waiting around. What happened was my sister was ordering a large amount of turkish delight and gummies and every time she asked for a specific thing, the employee would ask another employee to check on it, proceed to help someone else besides us in line, and then the employee that was asked to help us would proceed to work on other things or help someone else. It was totally unorganized - in true "back home" fashion - however, I expected a bit better for a place that is so highly rated. I noticed that they were helping Arab people more quickly than non-Arab. Regardless, we aren't Arab and other people in the store were being helped and left quicker than us - despite the fact that we were there first. The last thing that really bugged us was when the cashier asked us to "wait a minute" after bagging us our treats. So we waited. And waited. We waited for maybe 5-10 minutes. And this cashier was going in the back for quite some time then finally came back up front and helped other customers besides us. We were totally ignored. We were reaching the 40 min mark of being in this store and we approached the busy cashier saying "do you still want us to wait?" And she said - " I need to print you our a receipt." My jaw dropped. SERIOUSLY?! We were waiting all that time for a receipt? Which could have been printed when our items were bagged?! Mind you, this tiny shop was very narrow - and extremely crowded the entire time. They were NOT limiting the amount of people in this store. They were NOT enforcing masks. Heck, the workers themselves had their masks around their chins! I was appalled. I am a nurse on a COVID unit so I do take mask wearing seriously. I was surprised this shop did not considering that there is a mask mandate in the Chicago area. I don't think I would risk coming here again unless they become better at customer service and enforce masks among their employees and customers. Highly recommend coming early if you want to avoid the crowds.

If you love Turkish delight, this is a great place to get it. If you don't know what is Turkish delight, this is the where you go get hooked. They have a fantastic assortment of middle eastern sweets and nuts and great service, in an inviting store.

When having guests over your house (who does that anymore), you must always have a bowl of mixed nuts. I don't care how old or young you are, you always have a bowl out of mixed nuts. Before dinner, mixed nuts. After dinner, watermelon seeds. Yes, you heard me, watermelon seeds. And they are glorious. The Nut House is the dream place. Their seeds and selections are fresh and abundant, respectively. You can get seeds from Palestine to Egypt to Lebanon. You can also buy freshly ground Arabic coffee (which I do). You can't buy less than half a pound, which is a bummer, but it's ok. I drink it. The turkish delights! OMG the turkish delights! First, I am not much of a fan of these gummy halal desserts. I don't get them. HOWEVER, the Nut House gets them fresh and in great flavors! You can have oreo, pistachio, nutella, vanilla, and the list goes on. THey have your traditional types, and they aren't bad, but the modernized sweeter flavors will suck you in. They also have some fresh spices and chocolates. This place is a dream. I love coming in here because of the smell, the kind people and the goodies I leave out of it. I wish they had more locations, but it makes plenty of sense to be in the center of what tourists call, "Little Palestine". Chicagoans call it the South Side, or just simply, home. The Nut House makes you feel at home in the middle of home. It's the best.

The nut house is a family favorite in my household. My parents have never been but about every month place a huge order from Jersey. I had the pleasure of visiting their Chicago location and it was nothing short of wonderful Arab hospitality, endless desert/nut/ candy options, and service that rates 10/10. Everything looks so beautiful, delicious, and authentic. There are so many things to chose from. Weather you're looking for seeds to snack on, halal gummies, or even desert to gift... everything was impressive. The nuts and seeds are VERY good quality. I mean my parents go through pounds by the month or two. We got some halal candy gummies for the road. I felt like a child in Jordan again. SOOO good. Such good quality. The best gummies like the ones from a dukan.(if you know, you know). Coming here felt like home. I hate to sound corny but I went nuts here. (Okay enough with the puns) but really the corn nuts are great too! They have a variety of flavors to choose from. spicy, low salt, no salt, salty, and more.

This place never misses. Always amazing customer service to go with great unique products. If you never had a Turkish delight u been missing out on life. They offer many different sweets from Turkish delights to gummies and nut mixes. The aroma is also addicting as well. Whenever I'm in the bridgeview area this is my go to spot. They even launched a app which now offers delivery service as well. So give them a try I know if you have a sweet tooth they will not miss

What a lovely shop! After lunch across the street, made sure to visit as it looked great online but it's actually better in person. This store is beautiful, pristine and the assortment of specialties is hypnotizing. When our group walked in, we were met by enthusiastic faces and hospitality by each and every person working. There's so much to see here and these guys were generous in telling us we could sample anything. They even walked up to us with things to try. You rarely get that type of treatment walking into a shop anymore. This is like sweets and treats heavEn with so many different and exotic treats, spices, nuts, seeds from other countries. Halvah, Turkish delights, baklava's, chocolates, sesame brittle which is a nostalgic favorite. Even 45 minutes from where I live, won't keep me from visiting again and thinking of this place for gifts! I loved this place! They said they plan on opening a location in Skokie in the near futuRe.

What happened to Arab hospitality, I had the opportunity to visit both locations (New Jersey) and I'm not sure what it is about the service that no matter how packed it or or empty, the service is always underperforming. With a unique shop like this that isn't easy to find you'd think the service is just as rare and unmatched. But certainly not...I was a regular weekly customer and I've cut back to longs months without stopping by. I hope they'll start taking customer service a little more serious and work on training the employees to be more sufficient...

Updating my old review because they apparently hired a really rude cashier who seriously needs to fix her attitude. How are you gonna talk about your customers in Arabic right in front of them when 99% of the clients who come into your store speak Arabic? Lol we know when you're talking about us and giving attitude. Service was better before when we came months ago. They need a new cashier with better customer service skills, or she's going to lose them business.

I ordered my mixed nuts (now now, stop that!) all the way from Portland OR. The package arrived just like they said it would. We used to drive from Joliet when we lived in Illinois. Now I want to fly back to go to all the Arab food places we used go to including the Nut House because there is nothing like it in Portland Oregon. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this store yesterday for the 100th time. It keeps getting better. The products they sell are the very best quality & so fresh. I picked up some mixed nut, Turkish delights, seeds & some candy. And, the customer service is impeccable here. I had the pleasure of having Em Wesam helping me. She was so helpful & kind. Very patient & answered all my questions regarding the products. The customer service always reminds me of why I keep coming back & supporting this local business. They also sell beautiful trays of candies & assorted delights for gift giving or parties, or beautiful tea sets & glassware. I'd give 6 stars if Yelp allowed. If you are in the area stop in. I do not recommend this place to Anyone because they have The worst customer service ever I made an order from them and I got a wrong order I called the customer service and asked if they can do anything about it if not no hard feelings .the lady Who answered the phone told me I have to talk to the owner just a second the owner name Talib .she told him this guy order wrong item by mistake if we can do anything about it for him . The owner told her straight up tell him to kiss my ass And I am sure he can say sorry no return that will do you don't have to be rude to your customer and that's how you lose a business read more

Fantastic store. On entering, I was greeted by the proprietor -- an exceptionally friendly guy who was quick to offer samples of the products in the store. I agree with the previous reviewer who commented on how beautiful the store is. The fixtures and furnishings are a large step above what you'd expect to find in a strip mall (unless it was on the North Shore, I suppose). I walked out with a couple of pounds of nuts, including some really tasty Turkish pistachios, which had a superior flavor and texture to the California varieties I usually buy. I also picked up some smoked mixed nuts and a couple other miscellaneous coated nuts. I believe they do all of their nut roasting on site, so you're sure to get a quality product. Give them a try. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with a purchase from here. read more

They have very tasty Turkish delights, sweets and nuts. We purchased the freshly roasted coffee, almonds, cashews, some seeds and halva. The halva was very delicious. We will be back to try some of the other sweets, chocolates and dried fruit. They have great gift bags/plates filled with various Turkish delights. Yummy! And they make a lovely present for anyone, or any occasion. read more

The owner was very rude. Was watching every little move we made. Don't bring children into this shop because they will look at you like your committing a crime. Your not allowed to touch anything, the manager /owner is extremely rude and doesn't make you feel welcome. You walk in and he just rolls his eyes. Then when you place your order with him, he huffs and puffs What kinda business is this ? read more

This is a hidden gem. This place is strictly carry out but they have a wide variety of Turkish and middle eastern desserts along with Turkish coffee. Staff is friendly and welcoming. I was just given a gift basket from here and every item inside is made with Palm Oil. The deforestation of forests for Palm Oil is contributing to the deaths of many orangutans daily as they are displaced, lose their homes, shelter and food sources and starve to death, some pregnant or with newborns and infants. Certainly these products can be made with an alternate ingredient that doesn't cause so much loss of life. read more

I usually buy a variety of Turkish delight from this store a gifts for my friends and I was very satisfied until my last visit on Saturday, November 10. Saturday, I ordered 5 boxes of Turkish delights (1 # each). I asked the lady to put exactly the same variety of Turkish delight in each box but I wanted to get a sample for each kind first. She started to give me samples and fill the boxes with the kinds I liked. After a while an Arab guy who worked there (not the owner) told me that I could choose only 5 kinds from at least 15, not more because it would take the sales person's time when there is a customer. First, there was no customer in the store other than me at that time. Second, there were two people (him and the lady) if another customer shows up. Third, there was no sign that indicated this rule. I was very surprised and said there was no sign that says so and there was no customer as well but I said OK and told them to fill the rest of the boxes as they liked. Then I paid for the order and left the store. I DON'T THINK I WOULD GO THERE AGAIN UNTIL THEY LEARN HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS. There are plenty of wonderful online nut and T. Delight stores if I want to buy such gifts and I'LL TRY THEM FOR CHRISTMAS, THANKSGIVING and OTHER OCCASIONS. read more

Delightful! Was actually looking for a bakery in the area and found this wonderful place on YELP. Watched "The Hungry Hound" video and had to stop! Bought a pound of cashews and have never had cashews like this before. Gentleman taking care of me was informative, professional and friendly without being gushy. I asked if his cashews were salted, which I wanted, and he explained his process, offered me a sample. His explanation did not require me sampling....he sold me on his process by explaining his process and assured me I would taste a bit of salt without all the customary oiliness of American cashews. Cashews are spectacular!! I love the shop itself, quaint, yet rich. He knows what he is doing over there and I wish him many years of success and I will get there whenever I can, tho I do not live nearby. Wonder if he ships bc I am moving even further away soon....hmmm. read more

Love their chocolate and nuts. I also don't mind paying the price tag on them but don't play slick with me or anybody as a matter of fact. Its called ethics. I brought the mixed chocolate plate that was priced $39.99 set it on the counter and went to grab some gummies. When i got home i noticed on the receipt that i got charged $45.99 for the chocolate plate. I checked the plate and noticed that the price tag was removed but you can tell that the tag was there. You can have your extra $6 but if you want to charge $46 than price it $46. I wonder what other shady things you guys do over there as well. read more

EXTRAORDINARY GEM. This is the same as the famous store in Jordan they have opened in Chicago. The best Turkish delight in the United States this is no exaggeration. Amazing Jordan almonds, nuts, and other sorts of sweets. They also do online orders. A lot of people don't know that this place has opened in the U.S. When we came here it was by accident that we found this place via Yelp - my mother had actually returned from Jordan and gotten me lots of the same type of Turkish delight from there I couldn't believe that it was also available here. We were greeted by an extremely generous and kind woman who went through all the types of Turkish delight with us and allowed us to try all of them and even gave us some for free. I can't believe that this little gem is in Chicago. I will for sure come back. read more

Great little place in Bridgeview. We came in on a whim and were not exactly sure what to expect, but it was great. All the staff was very friendly and everything looked really fresh. We got the roasted peanuts, smoked cashews, and some Turkish delights and everything tasted great. They do give samples which is nice to try before you buy (otherwise we would not have ended up with the Turkish delights). The prices are not bad for something so fresh. I would definitely go back. read more

The workers are also very helpful which makes the experience an enjoyable one. The chocolate cake was the consistency and quality of any package cake that you buy from a box. I was expecting gooey delicious moist incredible chocolate cake. The frosting was not like the butter cream. I am used to it. It was a lighter frosting and perhaps it was butter cream but I can't be sure. The filling was not custard. It was the same frosting is on the outside of the cake. The royal icing decorations were not edible. And there was no merry Christmas written across the cake. When I questioned her about the filling she went in the back of the store and I guess she pretended to look at something and came out, so Yep vanilla just like the picture. I remember the conversation verbatim plus I wrote down my own notes. And when I got home, sure enough, it was supposed to be buttercream frosting And custard filling. Overall it was not what I ordered, the quality was not of something I would expect for a $90 cake from a bakery.

Sampled fresh brewed Arabian coffee and a honey almond cake. Very nice flavors. There were also coffee husks on the counter. I had to inquire about their purpose; boy did I get a lesson. You brew one tablespoon per day and drink it as a tea. If you must use a sweetener it can only be honey. Coffee husks are good for headaches, menstrual cramps, inflammation, weight loss and more. I purchased a half pound for 3$. I'll let you know. I also purchased coffee for my husband. I love the way they grind the blend; extra dark beans, light beans, cardamom and cloves. Great place to visit and get a taste of the best selection of freshly roasted nuts on site especially the Turkish Pistachios!! not to mention the tasty breath taken display of Turkish delights and the Amore brand chocolates, what a treat!!! I love the way this place is set up, very allegiant decor, gorgeous colors and it's really spotless clean! it really does belong on Michigan Ave in downtown especially with over whelming customer service this place offers. Place to go for Turkish Delights! They're served in neatly wrapped, colorful and flavorful variety rolls and if you ask the lady behind the display counter about an item she'll hook you up with a free sample without having to ask. Go for the free samples!! Score some TD's (Turkish Delights) at this place if you are in the Chicago land area. Next time I go to a party and don't feel like buying the usually boring cake or pie I'm going to pick up some pistachio, chocolate strawberry TD rolls. They will cut them into pieces too. If you're buying with credit be prepared to buy at least $10 in treats. read more

While other places may sell their own versions, The Nut House has truly perfected the recipe with their one-pound chocolate-covered pistachios and crispy Knaffeh flakes. The price is a bit higher compared to other places, with one bar costing $25.00 However, the exceptional quality and taste make it worth every penny. I order $100 worth of watermelon seeds lemon and smoked flavor was old and was nasty and most of the seeds are empty i throw most of it in the garbage. This was not fresh at all. I call the owner muunir he did not care. he said that he will send me a replacement when i put in a new order. who is going to order that stuff any more any way bad proudcts bad experiance i will never order from there any more. The nut house is such a nice place to visit in Chicago. They have the best tasting middle eastern pastries. Their freshly roasted seeds are so delicious I buy 2 extra bags. The customer service is top notch and they greet you with a cup of Turkish coffee. This roastery is the best place to stop by to buy tastes from back east. read more

I went here to get my girlfriend something for valentine's day and found that this is probably one of the best chocolate shops I have been to. Great variety of chocolates, I sampled the turkish pistachios which are amazing. The chocolate will melt in your mouth. Awesome! read more

They have a great selection of nuts , was very unhappy with the taste of the nuts. ordered Pistachios and they tasted terrible, dry and bitter. I also was able to try the chocolates which are packaged nicely in gold paper, but they made me feel sick. read more
