I was informed that their office did not run my insurance in time to notice before I was seen! I informed them that since Dr. Patel agreed to take on my case, I'd re-located back to New York (as I was comfortable knowing that I had a new pain pump doctor.) The office then informed me that Dr. Patel REFUSES to work out of network for pain pumps, despite having had an appointment, having told me that she'd take on my case, and the office having told me that they take my insurance. Because Dr. Patel refuses to see me out of network (after agreeing to take me on as a patient) I now have to travel two and a half hours to a pain pump doctor because they screwed up. I saw Dr. L. Wang sometime in Feb of this year, after reading on his web site that he could treat…read morelung bacterial infection. I had 5 sessions with him, as he offered to me with a discount. From the consultation with them I learned that he didn't treat directly the lung infection, but thru acupuncture and herb treatment. The goal was to strengthen my imunity. Of course, with this goal in mind I had to be a long time patient with him. The only benefit that I had with his acupuncture treatment was that in that same day the stucked pleghm in my lungs, loosened up and I cound spit it out. Dr. Wang was about to take a break, since his holistic activity was a part-time job, so he recomended to him to continue the treatment with one his partners, with Mei. I accepted the offer and started the acupuncture with her. After 2 sessions I noticed that I couldn't fall asleep at night, even though I've been taking for 15 years i tab of Lunesta 3 mg. With the pill I usually fell asleep for 15-20 min. So, I mentioned to her if she had touched with needles my sleep nerves. She admitted that, allegedly, after she had read in my illness history filled out with Dr. Wang, she wanted to help me improve the sleep. I did 2 more sessions with her, sleeplesness continued and I quit her service. She destroyed my sleep nerves, and I still am suffering the conseguences of that even after I saw 2 more acupuncturists to reestablish my previous condition of being able to fall asleep. My sister and mom were treated here previously and they recommended it, so I thought I'd give it a try. The place is clean, well-equipped and had a relaxing feel. The therapists, especially Ed, are amazing - friendly, knowledgeable and caring. When I strained my forearm from overcompensating to protect my shoulder, Ed recommended stretching, showed me how to do it properly and advised on what type of support armband to get. When we had the snowstorm, the staff called and emailed to let all patients know they were closed, and to help reschedule. I could email Ed at any time to ask a question or let him know how I was doing - and this is even after I finished my therapy sessions. Just a great place and people who treat you like family. I suggested Pilates to a friend who was looking to increase flexibility, and we chose Body in Balance LI because it was close to work. Susan set us up with duet sessions so we can work out together, and she accommodates our different needs and skill levels (as a newcomer and long(ish)-time practitioner) almost seamlessly. Her instructions are easy to follow and her tactile feedback is immensely helpful. I recommend Body in Balance LI for both someone who's been practicing for a long time and someone newly interested in Pilates.
