Kids working the register were good in person but not friendly on the phone. Glad I was picking up because the ambiance of the place was straight outta 1980. Will be back for carry out pizza again VERY soon!

This is a place that truly represented what a family restaurant was to me. It's changed a bit now…read more The giant painting of the city of Palermo no longer hangs on the western wall, the Italian colors in the form of curtains have been replaced. The exquisite fried zucchinis my uncle would buy me when I was a little boy have gone extinct, can no longer be found on the menu. But most importantly, the booth in the corner is empty, the booth where you would find the owner smoking a cigarette almost every night. Unfortunately he passed, a very serious fellow but he could cook wonders. A truly authentic feel and taste. The roast beef sub was in my opinion, the best in the region. And their chicken Alfredo was super creamy, a real delicacy. The Italian bread was the secret I believe. A very nostalgic place to me that is no more, the changes have been drastic. They say change is good but there's always an exception. The roast beef sub was perfect, it didn't need to switch from Swiss to cheddar cheese and definitely didn't need bacon. I did ask for the original which they gladly made, the taste was a bit off though. The Alfredo was a bit watery and the flavor was very mild compared to the rich, sharper flavor the older one had. The pizza wasn't bad, didn't change much. Service was pretty decent, no complains there. The updated menu was a real game changer for me, will no longer be dining here.

You get loaded baked potato green beans (your choice) for an unbelievable price. We call in sometimes and when I pick it up the staff double checks the order. They actually look at the receipt and go over every item making sure it is correct.(unbelievable) On Wednesdays they have i think it's lasagna. They have a special every day of the week. So if you want a server with a smile on there face and a full tummy afterwords, go to Nonno's Homestyle Italian & Pizzeria. Thank You Nonno's for cooking for us, your the best. Rick Curits

A Hearty Homestyle Italian Experience at Nonno's in Cedar Springs…read more As someone who's a proud quarter Italian (with a son who's one-eighth Italian and seven-eighths delightful mongrel), our family takes our pasta seriously. So when we wandered into Nonno's Homestyle Italian & Pizzeria on a sunny July evening at 5 PM, we were ready to embrace our heritage one bite at a time. Tonight's special was chicken Parmesan with spaghetti, and I knew I had to give it a whirl. My son opted for the pasta penne with chicken and their creamy Rose sauce. His entrée came with a fresh side salad, while both our meals included generous slices of garlic bread. I added a side salad with their house dressing--which, while simple, was downright addictive. Sometimes less truly is more. Now, when we say the portions are generous, we mean it. My son was served what can only be described as a ceremonial pasta bucket. Undeterred, he dug in with gusto and earned his spot in the prestigious clean plate club. As for me, the chicken Parmesan was delicious but defeated me just shy of victory--I ate too much to warrant a to-go box, yet not quite enough to claim a clean plate badge. A noble effort nonetheless. Drink-wise, my son kept things bold with a Dr. Pibb, while I went with a refreshing lemonade. We both agreed our meals hit the mark: flavorful, filling, and made with care. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. The restaurant was spotless, our server friendly and attentive without hovering. I even popped into the men's room before dinner and was genuinely impressed--clean enough that, while I wouldn't endorse it, you could probably eat off the floor. (Respect to the crew who keeps it that pristine.) All in all, Nonno's is one of Cedar Springs' hidden gems--a place where even partial Italians and full-blooded food lovers can find something to celebrate. We'll be back. Next time, maybe I'll train harder and join the clean plate club myself.
