My husband and my two boys go here to get their haircuts. The Nobelman is an awesome addition to Wauwatosa. It's warm wood/industrial aesthetic imparts a wonderful classy atmosphere. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming, even when we have two young kids waiting for their cuts. Initially I was a little hesitant to bring my kids there because I had been taking them to a hair place specifically for kids. However, all my anxiety was gone after their first cut because they had such a great experience and ultimately walked away with better haircuts. Nikki is the owner and she is so wonderful and patient with the kids, and it's remarkable that children don't actually need a television or iPad in front of their faces while getting a haircut! I've been a Nobleman patron for the better part of two years now. Having lived in a handful of cities in my time, I've done my fair share of shopping for a proper barbershop. I can honestly say that the Nobleman is my favorite barbershop of all that I've tried. I really don't want to reveal who my barber is, because she's generally booked months in advance as it is...but what the heck...Ivy is awesome and I can't recommend her enough. 10/10 quality in terms of the haircut itself and the service that goes with it. With that said, I was on a time crunch once and Sam did an equally awesome job! I haven't had the pleasure of sitting down with any of the other barbers, but they all are super nice. You can expect to pay $30-40 for a cut and spend about 45 mins in the shop. Free beverages while you wait, which really isn't long. I think they do walk-ins but I'd recommend calling ahead. We're moving back to the Milwaukee area shortly so I was excited to find a barbershop that included kids cuts on their service list. We decided to give it a shot and make the drive down. Sam did an amazing job on my five year old's hair! He took his time and was extremely friendly and professional. My son tends to lean away subconsciously during a hair cut and Sam was patient and accommodating. Usually when I take my son to get a haircut it takes the stylist 10 minutes tops. This haircut took almost 30 minutes (not a complaint!) because Sam actually cared to pay attention to every detail and give an amazing stylish cut. My son told him he has two people with crushes on him (ah five year olds!) and he replied, "after this haircut you're gonna have three buddy!" Sometimes I need to mix it up. A previous barbershop fell through leaving my schedule open. I waited until the last possible second to get in and low and behold I coincidentally got the barber I first had when I started Yelping back in 2012. When I called in on a Whim I got Ivy. Ace! What you need to know. There is street parking available but if it gets a bit busy in the area just know that there is a public lot right up (west) North Ave. The Nobelman hits that stride that was lost at another bay-view area barber when it comes to Atmosphere. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and spirited. The banter between customers and barbers brings it together here. Introverts don't worry you can still keep to yourself. This is, as a guy, something that I find perfect. Honest quality and talented barbers. That is where the focus is here, on Barbering. No TVs shoving LOCAL SPORTS BALL in your face like a lot of these chain establishments try to do, no gimmicks or other BS. It's talented people, good conversation and professionalism. The end results are great because the people here have the experience to give you want you want and give you a great end result when given no real direction. That is how I roll. I will sit down and leave it up to the barber entirely. Anyone that knows Ivy should know that you will get a great cut all the time. She's great. I have seen the work from the others here and I would easily trust their judgement just the same. There are certain establishments that have lost that focus which puts The Nobelman in a small percentage of barbershops here in MKE that can provide an authentic experience. Pretentious, condescending and a rip off. They are the ONLY business for miles with mask requirements, I guess they're just a bit slow mentally which makes complete sense. AVOID!!! read more

Been to the Nobleman. Everything was overly relaxed to the point of borderline non-professional. There were 2-3 children in the shop either getting a haircut or with someone getting a haircut which I found odd. The haircut($35) was fine but I will stick with shops where the professional haircut is the focus...and employees walking around eating snacks out of zip lock bags is frowned upon. read more

I've been coming here exclusively for a bit over a year and a half, and every time it is exceptional! In the very beginning I had a couple of different stylists that I went to, so I can tell you the staff is extremely friendly and professional. I've been a regular with Roland for the past year or so and he has been absolutely wonderful. He has given me styling tips, product tips, sees what kind of style I'm going for and explains why he cuts and textures the way he does. He is also just a very nice and personable guy. I couldn't be happier with my results every time! I love that once a month I can come in for a hot towel, a shampoo, a cup of coffee or bourbon, and relax for a good 45 minutes before rounding out my day. read more

I have been searching for the last 3 years to find a new regular barber as my last regular place closed. I just had my third haircut at The Nobleman by Chloe. I believe, and I could be wrong, but I think that Chloe is the least experienced barber there which says something about the quality of the barbers there because Chloe's haircuts are absolute perfection! It's nice to get a haircut and know Chloe is going to cut it exactly like I want and expect every time. While the cuts are a little more expensive than I normally like to pay, I will gladly pay it to know I am going to get a great cut everytime. The Nobleman has a nice relaxed atmosphere. If I had one critique of The Nobleman it would be that they only have PBR for beer in their selection of complimentary drinks to enjoy during your time there. read more

I have been a customer for about a year-and-a-half now. Nikki - also the owner - is my hair stylist. Nikki's great. No other word for her. She cuts and styles my hair exactly like I want it. (The shampoo and scalp massage beforehand in itself worth the price.) Pleasant conversationalist. A welcoming environment, right from the moment Katie checks you in. COVID-19 taken very seriously and all precautionary measures in place. I miss the two fingers of Wisconsin rye that went with the haircut, but hope that returns soon! This place is the best! I've been getting my haircut from Ivy for about the last year and a half. That has always been the right decision. On Memorial Day weekend, I brought my groomsman, ushers and a Pap Pap to get cuts and shaves or beard trims. We were the only people in the shop for most of the time we were there, which made the experience feel really personal. Afterwards, the guys were the sharpest crew in town. Unprofessional, unorganized and inconsiderate to boot. The slogan says it all. "We believe good things take time, ditch the impatient toe tap and watch check during your time in line and stick around for a bit." In other words sit around for 30 minutes while your stylist and 2 other shop workers barely acknowledge your presence. This business model would suggest that you don't have to make appointments...false. I made an appointment for over a week in advance. I walked in, checked in and sat. While waiting, my stylist Rolan just kept clipping away while the other workers just milled around the shop. Not one word for 30 minutes so I left. Clearly my business does not matter. I received a call from Rolan apologizing for the lateness and suggested calling back to make an appointment for the following day. I was ready to give The Nobleman a second chance because they're a new, small business neighborhood shop and I wanted to support them with my business. I called the shop as soon as they opened the following day to get in like Rolan suggested. 48 hours later I'm still waiting for a call. I expect that a poorly run business like this one will not last. Shame really. read more
