We were charged $5 just to enter Rileys, unsure if that's just how it is every night. The dance floor was a good size, and some guys started rapping with the music. It sure did get the crowd hyped, but it didn't get people dancing, I noticed. I didn't get anything to drink at Rileys, so I can't comment on the drinks. Rileys was a younger crowd, and it didn't strike me as a mellow place. I don't see us returning to just have a drink and chill, especially if there's a cover charge.

Talented artist filled the stage. 12 member band left them little room to move but it looked like they had a blast performing. Ordering drinks and snacks is easy but come early if you want to eat. The sound and lighting is very good in this small venue and I especially like that they don't have it so loud your eardrums are going to rupture! Staff is very accommodating and knowledgeable. If you have an issue with anything just ask. Bartenders are quick and the drinks are good. Expect to pay premium prices. Don't forget to grab some popcorn before the show start. Oh yeah, the upstairs bar is Cash Only! You can purchase drinks with a card down stairs then take your receipt upstairs for a drink. Find a concert you'd like to see and give this place a try! They have so much talent it's a pleasure that they are a Bakersfield band. Accompanying Walter this evening was Teddy Zig Zag on keyboards, John Avila on base, Michael Leisure on drums and John Trout, Walter's Son, vocals & guitar. What an all star band each member having a storied history of their own. On concert nights you can call ahead to order one of Jimmy's famous wood fired pizzas for a little nosh preconcert. My complaint is with the late comers and the ushers. I wish people would be considerate and arrive on time. If they're late, I wish the ushers would hold them until intermission. It was crazy how much of the performance was blocked because of rude people standing in the aisle, stupidly looking for their seats. Also, make sure you sit in the right seats to begin with! People would be looking for their seat, but would be confused because someone was already sitting there. The seats are clearly marked...it's not that hard people. It's frustrating to miss out on parts of the performance because of oblivious people. Our seats weren't cheap! I'd say buy front and center, but counted at least 10 people cutting through the front row to get to their seat at the other side. Ridiculous!

Beautiful, classic hotel in Downtown Bakersfield!…read more We love staying here. Again, this time around we booked a Head Honcho Suite. They are so nice and spacious. This stay we were in room 403. The bed was super comfy and we even caught a Back To The Future Marathon on TV :) This room was a corner room just as our previous stay (in room 404) but this room's view was much better. It was right on the front corner of 18th & H Street. The sunrise was spectacular! My favorite is the jetted tub. It's super relaxing for a great "staycation" It's really cool and fills from the ceiling. Put on a Padre robe and relax! The best feeling after a long day! Can't wait to visit again hopefully visit the bar and restaurant next time.

It is in the church building on the corner of O Street and 20th Street and there are big numbers with the address above the entrance. There is a small parking lot and ample parking around the building. As soon as you walk in the restrooms are on either side of the main doors. The ladies restroom was very clean but not well stocked. 2 of the 3 stalls didn't have toilet paper and one of them didn't have toilet seat covers. They did not serve alcohol at the show I went to so I am assuming they don't sell alcohol but there is a snack bar selling reasonably priced ear plugs, candy, and water. Another plus is there were ins and outs. During the first band's (Mest) set the room was really hot and I was surprised they actually turned the AC on and it was much cooler for the rest of the show (The Ataris and Hawthorne Heights). That really impressed me. The sound is not great but considering the venue I guess it is expected so I won't complain too much. All in all I liked attending the show I did and would come back to see more bands!
