Impossible to schedule lessons locally. We have checked daily, for months now, and have not been able to schedule a lesson nearby. Any available lessons are 45mins to an hour (or more) away. My name is Katie Miller, and I've had my learner's permit for almost a year now. I've been trying every single day for the past few months to schedule an on-road lesson, and it's been incredibly frustrating. There are rarely any openings available, and when I do manage to find one, it's scheduled months out--by then, it's difficult to retain everything I've learned, making it less beneficial. I'm extremely disappointed with how difficult it's been to book lessons. If I had known the scheduling would be this challenging, I would have considered a different driving school. I've paid nearly $1,000 for this program, and yet I still don't have my license--almost a year later. I consistently check for availability in Westfield since I live in Southwick, but I've even started searching farther out, up to 45 minutes away, just to find any possible opening. I only have two lessons left and I'm unable to schedule them, which is incredibly discouraging. If there are any cancellations or open slots coming up, I would greatly appreciate being notified and prioritized. I'm eager to complete this process and earn my license in time for summer and the start of my senior year. read more

We have not even started and multiple problems. First, there is no available classes close by until about one month away. Our first Zoom lesson was a disaster. We logged in under the parents' Zoom account and were not let in. Then, just as the class was about to start, we noticed a long message on the side that the student's name had to be displayed. We quickly long in and out, and still are not let in. We messaged the instructor, who waited a few more minutes and said now we are late and have to reschedule. We wonder if they do it intentionally so they can now charge late fee? We will see. read more

I was referred to this facility by my sister who had couple of her teenagers go through the driving school and road tests. She had been absolutely satisfied and kids passed their tests in the first go. Sure, there had been some scheduling snags but that's understood. I took the Drug and Safety class online and will be going through a 2 hour behind the wheel course and will be using their vehicle for the road test next week. So far, customer service has been phenomenal, I get responded to when I have a query, either on the phone or email, or even chat. There are times when it takes a while in the queue when you call them, but again, that's just how it is. Nothing too drastic to get worked up about. Good work NextStreet. My son took the online classes and on road classes with a private instructor, we also signed him up for the package to take his test at TNS. He just got his license and we could not be more pleased! The whole process was as low stress as possible and the day of the test the DMV tester took him 13 min before his appt. and all was finished before his appointment time. Five years ago (pre-COVID), our eldest went through Next Street for classes (at our local high school), driving lessons & took his test in Avon, CT at TNS facility. Everything went very well. The customer service over the phone was stellar. Fast forward 5 years - it's early yet, having just signed my middle son up this past weekend, but I found the website a bit tricky to navigate. For example, it looks like they still have a site at our local high school (would just be for the driving lessons), yet they told me aren't using this location any longer. The site in the next town south of us still shows up, but has no links for a schedule or programs (but no explanation as to status). I was told there are no lessons there either. The person on the phone had no idea how to set up my payments through PayPal (they only way to do a payment plan without any fees, BTW). That was fine, he just had to call me back. I ended up enrolling over the phone since I had some questions about location & mainly the fact that different locations have different prices. Our local high school was listed as $779, the Avon location as $739, and the Plainville location as $699. While I understand the different pricing when TNS used to pay to use school facilities when they did in-person classes (pre-COVID), the customer service rep told me that it's because of the "taxes" they pay in the different cities/towns. Uh, no. Fine. I was perfectly happy to enroll my son in the Avon location which was still available. THEN when we lets me know my total, I realize they are charging me $779. I asked why, because we are enrolling at the Avon location. He said it goes by where you live! What? I didn't want to hold up my son being able to start his class, so I went through with the registration. When I insisted this seems wrong & asked to talk with a supervisor, I was told that he could have someone call me back. A few hours later, the customer service person called me back to say "because of the confusion with the different fees on the website", they would charge me the lower price (showing as the price for the Avon location). Now as it turns out, Avon had no driving lessons available, so my son is taking them all in Bristol. And...guess what the price is listed for the Bristol location?! $699!!!!!! read more

I do not recommend the next street simply because I was told my son needed a 30 minute driving lesson to complete which I sat in traffic for 45 minutes going to the Bristol location, only to be turned away from the instructor because my son had on sneakers that were the material of crocs. Just to clarify my son did NOT wear crocs. Nor anything similar. His size 15 foot was inside of a sneaker that was completely enclosed. There was no open toe, and the back of his foot was also NOT opened. When my son was turned away I politely went inside the office looking for answers only to be told by this woman who was more focused on her phone than giving an explanation, that it's because of the material of his sneakers. No where in the policy does it specify appropriate fabrics, only no open toe or open back, which my son was in compliance with. I have reported her and I truly feel my son was discriminated against by this instructor. Currently waiting for a follow up phone call from a supervisor. read more

Extremely difficult to schedule- always backed up for weeks or months. Terrible customer service. They will never admit to doing anything wrong, and the teachers do not have experience working with teens virtually. The virtual model seems to be working for them, but not working for the customer!! read more

We had a great experience with "the Next Street " driving school. Plenty of online classes available and so easy to reschedule. Driving instructor was amazing, made my son feel very comfortable and really taught him all the little things that I couldn't. He was more than prepared to take drivers test. Passed on his first attempt!! They responded to my emails pretty quickly and facilitated the certificate of completion -super fast.. I hadn't read the rules of giving them time for processing after full completion of course.. so i am very grateful for that. I would like to begin this review by stating that the actual driving instructors are great. Patient and good teachers, easy to work with. The management here (or rather, the lack thereof) is absolutely atrocious. I did not have a single scheduled lesson actually happen on the day it was supposed to: instead, I received generic, barely apologetic phone calls halfway through the day of each cancelled lesson. Minimal effort was made on the part of TNS to work with my schedule when rescheduling lessons, even though they were the ones who cancelled, not me. The 'scheduling specialist' only returned phone calls and voicemails after being absolutely hounded two to three days after initially promising to call back within an afternoon. Nobody ever picked up on the main line so getting in touch with somebody was borderline impossible. Any time a lesson was rescheduled (after being cancelled by TNS, mind you,) lessons were offered for the same day and time, but in towns 30 minutes to an hour away. How they expect high school age students or working parents to be able to drop everything is beyond me, especially since they were the ones to cancel in the first place. This place is horribly run, with little to no communication and minimal responsibility being taken by management for cancelled lessons. With the amount of money they charge, the customer service should be absolutely top-notch, but they were a major disappointment. read more

I have 2 boys that went through TNS and the overall experience was so great. Through their instruction, they retained the rules of the road, and they learned to navigate the road not like beginning drivers, but like seasoned drivers. They are both confident and patient drivers. On the administrative side, we had a few issues pop up, and each time the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently. TNS representatives are so positive and TNS is one of those rare companies that consistently put the customer first. I hands down recommend TNS. They take a somewhat stressful time in a teenager's and a parent's life, and make it enjoyable. read more

Picture a Sunday morning at 9AM. 30 or so parents and students are standing outside ASD on a cold morning for a class. Yes, I said Sunday morning at 9AM. Guess what? No teacher. Nobody. Not a light on in the place. Call the phone number for the business. No one to be found. Send a return e-mail to the reminder e-mail that had been sent the day before. Comes back as undeliverable. Everyone in the group is frustrated and complaining. Twenty minutes into the wait someone finally tracks down the person, at home, who indicated on the e-mail that she was supposed to be the instructor. She pleads dumb and offers no apology. She says she'll make a call. Ten more minutes or more go by. No call back. Parent calls instructor again. Still no apology, but is told that someone else will be calling. Person from ASD finally calls. Group is told to go home, that they don't have an instructor and there will be no class that day. Someone from ASD will contact each student to reschedule. Parent asks: Will there be some sort of compensation for this? Answer: Yes, we'll let people know about that too. Finally an apology is offered. Fast forward nearly a week later. Still no call from ASD to reschedule. Still no formal apology. Still no offer of compensation. Several calls have been made to ASD and no return call has been received. Save yourself time and hassle. Go somewhere else. read more

Tim is a great instructor! He teaches us what we need to know along with having fun.

This is a good, informative program. The classes are very worthwhile, as Tim does a good job of reviewing, and making it interactive, so the the two hours are more enjoyable. He also teaches things that are beneficial in the sense of making us safer drivers. Finally, when driving with Tim, he was very reassuring, and taught in a very good way to help do better; and also taught driving techniques that seem hard in a good way to make them easy. Tim is a great instructor who makes driving seem less intimating, while helping us be safer drivers at the same time, all while doing it wit a good sense of humor. read more

This place is horribly run. I paid them $600, to just take my son driving, because he alright had his classroom done, First day, they were at they office good. The second I go to drop him off, nobody shows up or calls me to let me know that they are not showing up, I'm late for my doctor's appointment so they charge a $50.00 late fee and I had to reschedule. The next lesson gets canceled because the teacher is sick. I guess they had no one to replace the teacher. To get to speak to someone, you are on hold for ever and you never speak to the same person you always get someone different . So of course I call and I'm very mad so they say they're going to give me a free lesson and pick him up at my house. He is supposed to have six hours on the road in their main concern is how to park in a parking spot. On August 17, the driving teacher is supposed to pick him up at our house at four till 6 PM but they didn't show up and I was out so when I came home at 4:30, I was quite mad so I called them and asked to speak to the manager and he was very rude and told me that I have been rude the last time I called and this time. He told me he would get back to me to see how they can make up for the mess up and as of today August 28 date he has not called back . I would never never recommend this place to anyone . They advertise that they are the best in Connecticut which is not true . read more

Honestly, the teaching part of this program is decent. However, as a "graduate", I know some parts that the parents may not have been exposed to. For example, after being reassured in each of my driving lessons (4) that the car I was practicing with would be the one used on my test, which I was taking with them. I got a different car completely; not even from the same make. The way they instructed us to park was extremely weird; we were to use the black strip on the furthest back window on a 4 door car to align in the middle of a space as one step. If you didn't have a 4 door or black strip on your back window, you were screwed. An alternate method was briefly glazed over, but they said that "It wasn't important, just do the black strip way, that's much easier." To pull in park they just said to "feel it". As a result, I had no idea how to pull in, but I eventually figured out how to pull in on the left by myself. On the right was a different story. I've since been trying to teach myself how to park. Somehow I got lucky passing my license road test, just trying to wing my back in (and succeeding after three adjustments) and pulling in on the left. They teach driving well, making sure you know all the signs and such, but in my opinion, they need to work on how they teach parking. read more

Learning to drive is one of those benchmarks in the life of a child,where our commitment to a driving school should be given ample consideration. I chose All-Star because I have the unique opportunity of "hearing" the parent classes, student driver ed classes and the types of tips and instruction they offer to the hundreds of kids and parents taking this step. As a business owner...my office is across the hall and I have been impressed time and time again with the level of care and dedication I would hear being given. I knew when it was our time, we would choose All-Star but specifically, I wanted Henry Binghi, Jr to be the instructor for our daughter. Henry is kind, respectful and patient with student and parent alike. I wanted my daughter to feel comfortable with whatever instructor she had, but I witnessed time and time again the personal care Henry afforded parents and students. One could easily tell that he was authentic and someone to be trusted to deliver genuine care and safety to their child. It was the little things I would hear over and over again that had me "hooked"...the reminders to check their gauges (but most importantly...why they are to do what they do), to not forget to engage their emergency brake, and pointers for "the test." He didn't teach "fear" he taught that with practice, patience and safety (always paramount)... every student could be an exceptional driver. With our own daughter, Henry was calm,encouraging, humorous, gentle, patient and most of all...caring. Thank you Henry. Look forward to hearing more "lessons" from across the hall. read more
