What started off as one tough interaction with Angela turned into harassment and aggressive bullying. I would not recommend this program to anyone who expects any level of customer service, professionalism or respect. Today was my son's test and as I was sitting in the room trying to Vento them (she decided since she doesn't like us she wouldn't take our check even Though 2 days before she had told my husband check or vendor only. ) she continued to berate and yell at me while others were there. Online classes that can be taken over a period of time if your child has other commitments, instructors that will pick your child up from school or home for their lesson, great communication from Angela..everything was just perfect! I've never been the type to write reviews, and I try to assess every situation fairly and keep my cool. That said, ADS is genuinely the most unprofessional and horrific business I have ever come across. So many of my friends have had the absolute worst experiences here. Their scheduling is absolutely awful, from double booking, late instructors, and not even putting people on in the first place. Angela is THE most unprofessional person I've had the displeasure of knowing. She is consistently late for lessons but still requires students to complete the 2-hour lessons, even if it cuts into their matters. Moreover, Angela verbally abuses students and plays the victim if anything is brought up to her. My friends have been absolutely professional in dealing with her, and she has left no slack. Time and time again, I hear of her grabbing the wheel and forcing students to change lanes with no warning when it is ENTIRELY unsafe to do so. The car she teaches in is on the verge of breaking down, with screeching breaks and a constant rattle. I can only assume there is a severe issue with the spark plugs and accelerator that NEEDS to be addressed. She has compromised the physical and mental safety of anyone she has taught. The amount of people I know who have genuine full-on panic attacks prior, during, and after classes with Angela is entirely inappropriate for such a business. She should be ashamed of the distress she causes. I know adults that went to ADS that, to this day, have nothing but terrible things to say about their experiences there. The one good thing to come from ADS is the instructor Pete. He understands how to treat students and keep them safe and happy. He is the best instructor, their hands down, and is patient and understanding yet still firm. I wish I could leave zero stars, but Pete deserves the one. read more

Angela is quite possibly the rudest and most unprofessional owner of this business that I have had the misfortune to come across. Angela was not only unprofessional with me ( the parent) but extremely demeaning and passive aggressively rude to my 16 year old child. I have never met a bigger narcissist in all of my life. Two of my three children have been through Avon Driving School & I have full confidence in the quality of their classroom & driving instructors. The school is extremely professionally run & was very accomodating with my kids' busy schedules. One of my children was extremely nervous about driving, but after I told the owner this, she placed him with a driving instructor who helped him overcome his anxiety and improve his confidence. My children have learned to drive safely. I wish I had known about Avon Driving School for my oldest child, as the difference in his driving skills vs. his siblings is measurable. My kids who learned from Avon Driving School have perfect driving records, but the child who went to a different driving school has had three accidents and a ticket. You get what you pay for. The staff at ADS is top quailty, knowledgeable, skilled and professional. read more

The website is pretty confusing as I signed up for a class and when it was time to confirm it through the phone, they said I wasn't on the list and such. Conclusively, I was pushed back a month. Another problem I have is that they say on their page that they're open 2pm-9pm and closed on Friday and Sunday. I've tried calling on those hours and it irritates me that they don't accept calls even during class hours. I called late 3pm and it was put on voice message. I thought this place would be great considering the mass amount of kids that go here, but there are a lot of issues through this process that needs reorganizing. read more

Avon Driving School in Simsbury "forgot" to put Matthew (my brother) on the schedule for his Driver's test, an appointment my mother made last April. Both of my children tell their friends to take the class. It also helped instill the importance of not drinking and driving. That is huge for me as a parent. Informative and well run. I find it very amusing that The Avon Driving School was just given The Top Driving School in the Farmington River Valley for the second year in a row and all these negative reviews.. The schools reputation speaks for itself and does not need to be defended. However there are times when issues arise and scorned people tend to fabricate the truth. The school is by far the most professional of its type in the state. From the owner Angela to her entire staff your children are treated as if they are their children. That is what their reputation is based on. In this day and age people tend to shortcut everything from listening to directions over the phone to a simple reading of a web page. So when they are wrong it is time to blame everyone else but themselves. The main goal of the school is to get students trained and tested to the highest standards under law so they can remain safe on the roads for years to come. This has and always will be the goal of The Avon Driving School. Regsitered my son for this driver's shool. The classroom sessions went fine with a couple minor issues. I scheduled driving sessions and the road test over the phone with Angela in April 2014. I was told that the driver's test would be on Friday July 25 and that license pick up would be July 29th. At that time I was told the driver's test would be in the morning with an exact time assigned. This week I discovered that Angela did not put my son on the driver test schedule. Angela was asked to correct this as this was her error. Angela offer an Aug date ( which fell during our family vacation). I told Agenla that she should honor the July date as the error was her's not mine. Angela then hung up on me. After discussing the problem with my family we decided to reorganize our vacation and return to Simsbury for one day so that my son could take the driver's test on the Aug date offered. I caledl the driver's school ( a few hours after the call with Angela) to setup the driver's test for a second time. I was told by the person that answered the phone that the next available driver's appointment is in Oct..I left a message for Angela to call me back and followed with an email. Agela has not called or email me. This unprofessional awful behavior from a business owner is the reason for my poor rating. There were signs that this business owner was disorganized, litlle issues which included scheduling the parent class, a change in a driver's time schedule with limited notice. I should have required a written confirmation of all appointments including the driver's test when I made these appointment way back in April. I cannot recommend this business at all, if you are reading this review and choose to use this business get everything you schedule in writting! read more
