Excellent food and good quality. The portions are large. The cost is higher than normal takeaways but this reflects in the quality

Is it crazy to call this place the best soup place in the world.... maybe but it was definitely the…read morebest we ever had. I could have sworn I left a review of this place when we were here a year a go... but it is not here. We are going to be back in London in Feb and there are about 5 must do things when we get back... and this is one of them. A year ago we were wandering around this part of London... sort of lost. We know we wanted to have soup so we were stopping at every restaurant and reading the menus. It was a cold misty day so the day screamed SOUP. We were starting to think Londoners don't eat soup! We were about to give up because we had gone past most of the restaurants area when this place appeared. It was small and unassuming. There was a young happy (Portuguese ?) guy serving soup from about 8 or so big kettles of soup with fresh... and really good, bread. We had wandered in tired and wet and that soup was amazing. We had two different kinds (I forget which) and both were just great. It made the evening into something magical, and not dreary, cold, and wet. So we will always return to this place when we have the opportunity to come back to London.

We enjoyed our dishes very much!, the soups we tried were out of this world, we are from the US and…read moreback home you will find such quality only in 5 star and expensive places. This place is down to earth and the taste from another planet :)

This is one of my favorite restaurants...ever :)…read more The thing I particularly loved (and I think they're famous for) was the Kasesuppe, or beer soup. It was so rich and flavorful and cheesy and delicious..unlike anything I've ever tried before or since. It's hard to describe exactly what it's like (since it's different from any other soup I've tried) but suffice it to say we both (my boyfriend and I) absolutely loved it. This was on a road trip my bf and I took to Portsmouth btw, and I want to come back to the city just to go to this restaurant again! :) We also got a Croque Reuben (sandwich for me, large portion), Pork Belly (for him), Manniere Moules et Frites (mussels dish - Classic moules with garlic butter, white wine and parsley, served with toasted sourdough), Brugse Zot Sport (beer for him), Kwak (Kwak amber beer, cream, orange and fennel for me) and Orangina. The main dishes of pork belly (Pork belly slowly roasted in Lindemans Apple beer, served with Stoemp and seasonal vegetables, finished with apple beer and mustard reduction) and Reuben sandwich (Grilled sourdough sandwich with Gruyère and Cheddar, sliced pastrami, sauerkraut, gherkins, Emmental and Russian dressing) tasted great, and portions were really generous! Staff were friendly also and it was just a great time :))

"Hoe gaat het?"…read more You'd be forgiven for thinking that a question like this would be greeted by a fond response in a Belgian bar, but, alas not. The Good: The beer is authentically Belgian/Dutch. The nibbles too. The bar staff are friendly. The couches are comfy. The Bad: The bar is a little bit Disneyland Antwerp. The staff aren't equipped with any Dutch. The French radio piped in is very annoying after an hour or so. The Ugly: There is a God awful high-pitched whine when the beer is being poured from tap. So if you're Dutch or Vlaams and you're missing some home comforts stop in, bud don't expect this be become a home away from home.

First, the food quality is good and reasonably priced (13 pounds). I ordered the big bowl pho soup includes noodles, meatballs, and beef with a side helping of bean sprouts to add. It was satisfying and hearty. The only blemish was that the broth had a bit more fat than I would have liked. Location is convenient for visitors to Brighton. It's on Preston Street near the Waitrose supermarket. From the Brighton I-360 tourist attraction, it's about 1-2 blocks north away from the water. From Churchill Square (near the clock tower), it's about a 5-7 minute walk to the west (along the street that is reserved for buses and taxis only). The restaurant is a bit tiny - I would recommend it for solo diner or couples. It's not convenient for a large group. Preston Street has a nice boba tea shop across the way and other restaurants that are worth a look-see. Overall, I would recommend "the Big Bowl" for visitors to Brighton who are looking for authentic Vietnamese pho.

I ordered the Bún cha combo which has vermicelli noodles, grilled pork, chicken and a spring roll. It comes with a dipping sauce that's a mixture of lemon juice, ginger, chilli, garlic and vinegar. It was tasty and cost just under £9. Service was very friendly and nice. I will definitely come back and try other items on the menu!
