I have also heard wonderful things about all of the neurologists here. This practice is located across from Baptist Medical Center Downtown in the Aetna Building. There are some really beautiful views of downtown and the river from their offices. The only negative thing I have to say about this practice is that there is always a wait. It's not uncommon for the wait to be up to an hour. So, bring a book, your iPad, etc. Just plan accordingly. Also, you cannot just call her and make an appointment. Even if you have insurance that doesn't require you to go through your primary care doctor to see a specialist, this practice still requires you to have a referral from your primary care doctor. It's also impossible to get them on the phone immediately whether it's to make an appointment, get med refills, etc. You'll have to leave a message. However, they are excellent at calling you back ASAP. I highly recommend Dr. Asad and this practice for your neurology needs.

This was all just in one part of it where we were, the ER and Davis Building. They also have quality places to eat and even a full Starbucks here. But, we were…read morepleasantly surprised at the welcoming atmosphere of UF Neurology Department in the Two Towers building on 8th Street in Jacksonville. It's across from Shands Hospital and takes up the entire 9th floor of Tower One. There's a large parking lot in front of the building so that was very convenient. A receptionist greets you on entering and he gave us good directions to reaching the offices. (We live an hour away and so I was already frazzled about finding the building and appreciated the greeting and directions). Our meeting went well, with not only the Director seeing Dennis, but two interns were practicing on him as well. LOL The staff was very pleasant and open about giving us info. There was a relaxed atmosphere in what could be a deadly serious locale. For example, you see the beach bum skeleton (photo) when entering the Director's office section and the doctor himself was wearing flamingo-themed socks and tie. While we were advised to see other medical specialists, I do think that we were treated with concern and given good advice.

I have severe migraines which I have been told by multiple neurologists are the worst they have seen. He cut me off while I was describing my condition and instead focused on past medications which I had told him did not work for me, asking for minute details on medications we had tried over 10 years ago that were totally ineffective and contraindicated for the types of migraines I have. He prescribed 2 medications that I told him specifically my insurance would not cover and put me on a medication I told him I had a previous reaction to in the dose and type he prescribed. I have been on the medication the insurance did cover for 6 days and had a reaction to it just like I told him I would. I left a message for his office stating I was having a reaction and have not received a return call. Absolutely horrible experience and would NOT recommend him for headache/migraine treatment. I will be finding another neurologist.
