Great large coffee shop in downtown Valdota. On a road trip from Tampa to Atlanta and needed to…read morestop for a few hours to catch up on work, and decided to try something new. It is a further off the highway when compared with Starbucks or Just Love Coffee, but if you need to spend some time hanging out, then i recommend it here. I only got a coffee with an extra shot, but the coffee was good. Limited menu like a boutique shop, but seasonal drinks and some other things. It apparently turns into a bourbon and martini bar at night, but I can't imagine I'd ever be here unless I was driving through. The shop itself is very big. Lots of open spaces, tables, outlets, etc. Even a separate room away from the music playing and people hanging out. I don't think it was intended to be a "quiet" space for work, but it was a nice reprieve from the noise to get through a couple of meetings, and is right up front so there's a lot of natural light from the street. And I don't mean to say the main area is loud - but you know coffee shops. Standard laid back music playing and people having conversations. You could definitely get work done from the main area, but it was nice to have a quieter space, too. They have some outside seating on the sidewalk, if you have your pup with you or if its just a nice day. I did not notice if there were outlets outside. Wifi works great. Limited food options, but i was just here for the caffeine anyway.

So here's the thing about this company - they have a HEAVY hand when making drinks . I have been…read moretwice and each time I asked for 1/4 sweet - only a dash of sweetness- and wow wow sugar sugar me oh my !! Are yall drinking this much sugar daily - yall be careful!! Those medical bills will be 100x more than those monthly coffee bills. Anyways yall I shouldn't say a thing - my kids would be horrified and probably get onto me for coffee shaming or some new age term! But I'm a momma to all and I must warn at the very least! I give a 5 star because the service is great. The workers really are doing great!! The first time it was too sweet I kindly asked them if I could have another and they were so kind about it! This second time I realized maybe it's just me and my taste buds that are sugar sensitive (although I've never had this problem anywhere else) so I went home and made a pot of coffee and I've been using my cup of coffee as creamer and making my own coffee the past two days! Whoop whoop! Thank goodness I have the time to do so being retired and all. Explains the length of this review Lo L ! Next time I will just be specific and ask for 1 or less pumps of sugar - All that to say, I like to support local and this company is good when the coffee isn't too willie wonka sugary

Hug in a Mug? More Like Hug in a Mess. I genuinely wanted to love this place based on the name…read morealone, but unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing coffee shop experiences I've ever had. From the coffee to the customer service to the overall cleanliness, everything fell far below expectations. Let's start with the coffee, or lack thereof. I ordered a vanilla latte, and my friend ordered a caramel macchiato. Both drinks were essentially room-temperature milk with barely a hint of coffee or flavor. It was so unpleasant that we ended up throwing both drinks away. The pecan roll we ordered didn't fare much better. After being placed into a styrofoam container, it was microwaved right in front of me. IN THE STYROFOAM. The result? A health hazard, plus a melted, chewy, overly gooey mess that was completely inedible. The service was equally lackluster. The staff seemed visibly annoyed to take our order, and there was clear confusion about who would make our drinks. One employee disappeared for several minutes while the other, who had been doing nothing, finally stepped in to make our coffees, after a not-so-friendly exchanging of words about who would make it between the co-workers. To top it off, I watched another employee leave ice cream out to melt on the counter for at least ten minutes in what was an uncomfortably hot space. Speaking of the space... it's in rough shape. The interior smelled of sour milk, ice cream, and garbage, likely exacerbated by the heat. The outdoor patio, the only seating option, is no better. Tables are sticky and unclean, fans are missing blades (with broken pieces piled nearby), and the entire area looks neglected and unkempt. It's clear there hasn't been any effort to maintain the space. To give credit where it's due, someone in our group ordered a strawberry Italian ice, and they said it was "fine." But for everything else we tried, it was a complete waste of money and time. I rarely write negative reviews, but this place needs serious improvements across the board. Between the lackluster coffee, poor service, and the overall unsanitary conditions, I cannot recommend Hug in a Mug to anyone, and I certainly won't be back.
