I worked for the Nanny Connection for almost five years, and worked for a great many families and received a great many positive reviews...However, if we sit for hundreds of families, there's going to eventually be a mismatch...And then this agency likes to take it out on the nanny... When this happened to me, the manager did not have my back, even though I have been kind, polite and generous to every family. That does not vary. The second time this happened, a year and many sits later, I had gotten the time wrong because it was changed, and when the family complained, the owner demanded I pay her the money I earned from the sit...Once I paid her, she and her husband ghosted me...They had hired me as an independent contractor, and therefore I was also ineligible for unemployment...And so I have been struggling to pay my rent since... What an amazing service! We needed a service with less than 24 hour notice (next day). They mentioned they were fully booked, but would try their best and match us with cancellations. Klara from Nanny Connection was super responsive and was constantly in touch with us throughout the day and was able to confirm our originally requested time with Brenda before the end of the day. The Nanny Connection was recommended to us by the Hyatt Regency concierge. We went to Maui for my brother-in-law's wedding, so my husband and I were a part of the ceremony and my husband needed to give a speech at dinner. However, since we were traveling from CA, my 10-month-old daughter was still on CA time and going to bed around 6:30pm. We basically needed someone to stay in the hotel room and make sure my baby was okay (sleeping) while we attended the wedding reception. I was hesitant to hire a complete stranger to stay in the hotel room with my daughter, but I felt a little better since Hyatt suggested The Nanny Connection. The nanny we had, Renee, has 3 children of her own, and she is a certified special education teacher. She also works for the local school district. Knowing she has experience, both raising her own children and working with students, put me at ease. When our daughter met Renee, she really liked her (and she is usually pretty shy with new people). Renee brought a luggage full of toys and books and was prepared to help with bath or putting our daughter to bed if needed. She was punctual and reliable, and she texted me mid-way through the night to let us know everything was fine. If you are visiting Maui with a little one and want a few hours to yourself (spa, day excursion, dinner), I would recommend The Nanny Connection. We had a great experience with the company and found their pricing to be reasonable. She took great care of my kids (1.5 and 4.5) which included feeding them dinner, brushing teeth, putting them to bed, etc for 6 days in a row. She was incredible. In addition to that, she brought incredibly interactive toys for my kids and made crafts with them, played with them, and did not rely on the TV at all! That was so cool. We had an unfortunate experience with this company. Planning my sisters wedding from afar, each time I would call it would be too early and they weren't open. Played a lot of e-mail and phone tag. I needed 3 Nannie's for the wedding day according to their age/number max per nanny. When you email, a different person responds each time and the same thing would happen when you called. I finally spoke to a nice gentleman a few days prior to the wedding who assured me we would be ok and I would be contacted. I then left it up to the wedding planner to finish as it was extremely hectic. The wedding planner confirmed with them as asked me to call by Monday (day before the wedding) for payment. Being the day of the rehearsal, 60 family members coming in to town, etc I completely spaced on it. All the way up to the point of right before the ceremony when I asked the wedding planner where the Nannie's were. She called and was told they would not be coming. Now- if I was the owner of this business and knew I had a client who needed event Nannie's, and didn't hear from them the day before- I would certainly be calling client and wedding planner before simple no showing. I totally get that I flaked on calling with the payment. I was slightly pre occupied. I guess they didn't need the $1k+ they would have made that day? It all worked out though and MUCH simpler when our amazing planner reached out last minute to a super sweet sitter on Maui who was flexible, easy going, playful and great with the kids. We visited Maui on a working vacay. This meant we needed childcare coverage during the weekdays while we got work done. I was naturally really skeptical about leaving my 2.5 year old with a nanny - it can be so hit or miss. We decided to go with Nanny Connection after reading the rave reviews and got matched to Blair. In short, she was incredible - super communicative even before we arrived, and my 2.5 year old (who is normally fussy with anyone new) took to her immediately. She showed up with toys everyday and went out of her way to plan activities for her and my son. I planned to spend a few hours with her and my son on the first day to help with the transition but was able to leave after the first 45 min (that's how great she was). She even planned a trip and took my son to the aquarium on the last day and let him pick out a little gift from gift shop. He can't stop talking about the plane she got him and the sights they say. My husband and I are still in awe - having great childcare is so hard to come by and it literally took the stress off our entire trip. On top of all that, Blair was just an incredibly sweet and caring person - we got along great on a personal level and I loved hearing stories about her young daughter. Wow! We had such a good nanny, it was amazing. Chris (former SLP) was so rad. I'm a BCBA and work with kids quite a bit over the last 15 + years so I feel like I can tell if a person is a good care provider. Here's what impressed me: 1. If I were asked "what should I do with her?" Probably couldn't have answered. Instead, Chris asked me for the information she needed to do her job. I.e. "When did she last sleep?" "What does she like to eat?" "Are you ok if we go to the pool/ splash pad?" Etc. and already had everything planned out. She brings her own gear which is great because we had like 3 toys as we were on vacation. 2. She didn't tell me everything was sunshine and roses when it wasn't. Look, I want to hear my kid loves being with the sitter because I did a phenomenal job selecting a person to care for my child. However, my child is little and I'm not sure how this might work out for her yet. She might hate it and it's stressful for both the care provider and my daughter. What I liked about Chris was that she told me when my 15 month old was unhappy and any details I needed to know (bedtime, wanted "mum"). This tells me that Chris wasn't so concerned with making sure I used her for the time I had scheduled later in the week, but was most concerned with me knowing all details of my daughter's first time being cared for by someone unfamiliar. She put my bebe's well being above her paid time which was an insurmountable quality. Needless to say I felt very comfortable leaving my bebe with Chris. This was the second time we used nanny connection in Maui. The first time we were nervous, and uncertain. We were so nervous going out that we didn't really allow ourselves to enjoy.
