We used Happy Kids over Thanksgiving, while traveling with our 18 month old daughter to the Westin Ocean Villas in Ka'anapali. Amy C was our nanny for a couple of nights where we wanted to have date night out. She was absolutely wonderful - she came on time, was very communicative (both before arrival and during our time away, sending us pictures and updates about how the night was going). We were in Maui for two weeks and needed a nanny. I've reached out to Nanny connection first and asked for a vaccinated nanny since it was during the pandemic. They failed miserably. They couldn't answer any of my questions about the nanny and just told me to deal with the nanny directly. So I reached out to Happy Kids Maui and it was the best decision!!! Don't waste your time w other nanny services when needing a sitter in Hawaii, use Happy Kids Maui! We've used their service twice, on Oahu and Maui, both times matched w the most caring and responsible nannies! My 7 year old will tell you one of her favorite things about HI is her sitter(s). Communication with the service is so prompt, whether you prefer phone, email or website. It does cost a pretty dollar. I tried looking at different services on both islands bc on their website it looked cheaper, but I couldn't get a hold of a human being to answer any questions, made me think... what if something happened while I'm not with my kids?! Who will help me? This service consistently proved to me they're worth every penny. The Nannies both islands came prepared with a whole suitcase of toys and activities. They texted in advance what our kids liked and disliked so they can bring appropriate things. Constant photo updates if you wanted it. The original babysitter we set up (not from this agency) became sick and called us about an hour before we needed her to tell us she would not be able to make it. I quickly got on the phone (after the Westin recommended this agency to me) and reached out to Happy Kids Maui & they had someone set up for same day service in no time. Being this was the first time I've had someone watch my child, I was very nervous but knew we didn't have another choice. Jessi was so friendly! She arrived promptly to the hotel and immediately hit it off with my 15 month old. She brought toys that caught her attention.... So much that my daughter didn't even notice that we snuck out! Haha! Hi Happy Kids! I just wanted to leave a quick review for our experience with nanny Regina aka "Gigi", because she was absolutely amazing. Gigi showed up early, asked thorough questions for our sons needs, schedule, food, etc. She had a great plan for the day and kept him busy all day long with activities. Gigi had great knowledge of the surrounding area and took our son on adventures perfect for his age. I appreciated that she took him out and didn't just rely on toys for entertainment. She sent picture updates and he was smiling big in every one. When we came home they were singing a song she had taught him. He also took a nap for her which he rarely does for sitters! The next day she came back and he was excited to play again. I was a bit nervous to use a service while on vacation but she was so professional and PERSONABLE. I sincerely apologize my review has taken this long. Without further delay, I hope my experience with Happy Kids can allow another family to entrust their loved ones under their attentive care and have the fond memories and experience as my son and I had. At first, I was extremely hesitant to venture into hiring someone, as up to now, the only person who babysat over 6 hrs or overnight for me, has ONLY been my dad. Because I could not find a family member to accompany us on this trip due to other responsibilities, I had to find other arrangements if I planned to visit with friends on Maui and partake in activities that a 4-yr-old couldn't. With plans to be in Maui for several days, I called the Hyatt Regency's concierge to find what resources they had, and because my son was under 5 yrs, he was not able to use their daycamp programs. They in-turn recommended Happy Kids. Upon the FIRST moment of email and phone correspondence, they were very attentive and prompt in replies. They completely sympathized with my hesitance, and explained to me all the ways the children get to spend the day/evening while the parents are out, and introduced me to a few different personality examples of their staff. She had explained very standard rules and guidelines the nanny/babysitters followed, and from there, my rules for my child would also be enforced. Immediately feeling at ease speaking with them, I arranged for a nanny on three particular dates, reserving them about 5 months prior to my dates of departure. About a month before our departure date, I went over my itinerary with our friends and determined the specific dates/times I would need a sitter. The rates were, from what I recall, $16/hr and after midight, the rates increased to $22/24 per each hour after *don't quote me on that, sorry, it was back on 12/16/10) Then, within a week of leaving for Maui, they called again to confirm my plans and introduced me to Vicki, being my son's sitter during our stay in Maui, reserved for three days. She sounded like a great fit for my son, and I felt at ease about their introduction. Just to be certain, I had requested Vicki come visit us at the resort for their 2 Hr minimum visit with our son (which had been about $40-44) Which was fine, because I really wanted to be sure that she and my son got along fine, especially since I'd be leaving so early that next morning and didn't want his first morning with Vicki to be a complete shock, wakng up to a stranger in his room Immediately, she clicked with him!! He was absolutely taken to her, and she had all my notes about his interest, and completely fell in sync with him on all his loves of legos, hot whees, and Bakugan toys. Overall, my experience with Happy Kids is beyond satisfactory! The daily reviews/notes Vicki left each evening really put a wam touch to my day knowing that he was having so much fun, despite the few hrs I had to be away. I can't thank Vicki enough, for her flexibility, too, as I know that my hours kept changing and she was so accomodating! I can see why she has so many "fans" or other children she continues to keep in touch with even after they've left Maui. I still have all of his artwork, his firs time painting/drawing his name, and they will be keepsakes of my trip to Maui on this particular visit. I really feel that staying at this resort benefited their interaction. My son felt so at ease and comfortable, going to the beach (not allowed to go into the ocean per Happy Kids rules) knowing where his room was, meeting other kids while walking around with Vicki, going gecko hunting, and all the art activities she had him doing, they were all constantly talked about even long after we'd returned home. I can't even remember ever returning and even seeing the t.v. on! My son coudn't wait for her next visit, each day. Thank you, Happy Kids, and "Miss Vicki" as we called her. Our vacation was one of the most memorable ever, and a large part of that was knowing my son was enjoying his time with me, and even apart from me, adding to my comfort in knowing he is growing up so fast, and eagerly wanting that independence. read more

Nanny Mary is the best! My kids have never had a non family member care for them and they are rarely with anyone but me or dad. Mary came with toys, books, and homemade play dough! Both my 1 and 3 year old loved her. They didn't even cry when I left! The third night Mary called me a couple of hours before I was supposed to return because my baby was having a hard time falling asleep and was getting very tearful. (your website actually states the deposit will be refunded in 14-21 business days while your e-mail states 7-14 business days). However you still failed to answer my question as to WHY you need to keep a customer's credit card deposit for a potentially a MONTH after the completion of their reservation when they are paying your sitters in cash every night??? (21 business days is a full month!) What is the point of that?? Still shady, sorry. Seems like you're hoping your customers will forget about the credit card deposit, like I almost did, and then you get to keep it. Not cool. ** Like a previous reviewer noted, my complaint with this company is with the management and their billing. Our sitter, Jackie, was great with our two girls when we stayed at Aulani. We used her for 3 nights and she brought toys, walked our fussy baby around, and kept in contact with us while we were out. We felt we could trust her which put us at ease. My complaint is that the company charges you a deposit of $65.76 on your credit card when booking their service. The manager I was working with, Ally, told me via text that our deposit "would be refunded at the completion of our reservation." (direct quote from her text). She requested that our sitter, Jackie, be paid in full in cash every night, which we did, also including a tip every night as well and validating Jackie's parking, too. Nearly 2 weeks after the completion of our reservation, I noticed I hadn't yet been refunded the $65.76 on my Visa. I texted Ally to find out where my refund was, and noted that we had paid Jackie in full in cash + tip every night. Ally responded that per their terms in their confirmation [email], a refund is issued after 7-14 business days. I guess I missed that, also being in vacation mode as a previous reviewer noted. I was just going off of Ally's text, which never mentioned the time frame when I asked her prior to service when the deposit would be refunded, and misled me into thinking the refund would truly come at the completion of our reservation - not 2-3 weeks later! 14 business days is nearly 3 weeks! Someone please tell me why a company needs to hold your deposit for nearly 3 weeks after the completion of your reservation when you've paid the sitter in full in cash + tip every night??? That's just plain greed and shadiness. The refund did finally come through (after I contacted Ally) in the amount of only $56.00. Also per their terms, the refund is "less applicable service fees." I'm not sure what the service fee of $9.76 is for, as that was not detailed anywhere in their confirmation, but I haven't bothered to follow up on it, which I'm sure is what they expect and bank on. Not sure I'd use them again based on experience with management. There are too many other sitter options to choose from in Hawaii and this one left a bad taste in my mouth. @Kelly (who left a comment in my review)- Yes I did use her for 2 days and I did tip her 15%, as mentioned in my original Yelp Review. I tip all my sitters 15%. I never STIFF my sitters on tip. I brought my concerns with the sitter directly to YOUR attention. I was not going to argue with the sitter in the hotel at 10pm on my 2nd night after an entire day out. But did the sitter ever tell you I was originally going to book her for a 3rd night?? Until I came back and found my daughter in her condition so I told her that I no longer needed her services. When I called you I said the sitter was OK because she did a few questionable things. OK does not mean GREAT. I NEVER said she was GREAT. If she was GREAT I would never have called you. For the sake of all arguments these were the things I was offered and thus expected: 1) You offered a WRITTEN report describing what activities were done. 2) You offered reimbursement. You specifically asked me to shop for a new pair of sunglasses, save the receipt ($12), and fax it to you for reimbursement. You said it was the least you could do considering the circumstances. I thought that was very generous of you until I realized you were never going to reimburse me. 3) You offered for the sitter to call me to clarify any misunderstandings. Those were the 3 offers you gave me to reassure me that everything was fine. Had the promises been fulfilled I would think that your company was WILLING to fulfill promises and take responsibility for your sitters. That's the key word, responsibility. It's peachy when things all go well, but what happens if things don't? What actions do you take?? I don't know what other people told you that I wanted. But for the sake of all arguments I have re-written it out above. Anyone that says I want more IS LYING. What else could I want?? The sit is over, my daughter didn't die. I'm just a mother that wants to know what happened. Was paying $16/hour + 15% tip worth it? I just wanted to know what activities the sitter did with my daughter besides talk on her phone, watch tv, and make my daughter nap 5+ hours on a 10 hour sit. Is that asking for too much??? I wish those offers/requests were met back in 2010 or maybe even 2011. But it's 2012 and instead of trying to work things out you try to discredit my Yelp review when it was you that broke your promises 2 years ago. We used Happy Kids to give us a date night during our vacation and it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. They are super responsive, ask great questions to get to know your kids before finding a suitable Nanny and are great at explaining the process before you book. When our Nanny Leah arrived, she was immediately friendly, kind and on the floor talking to our kids within minutes! She wore a mask and then asked whether we would prefer she keep it on or take it off, which we appreciated, and came armed with a bag full of fun activities and her ukelele to sing songs. My family and I just returned home from our recent vacation to Maui. This was our second year in a row using Happy Kids and we truly could not be 'HAPPIER' with this absolutely incredible service. We first reserved Happy Kids in January 2014 for two separate vacation date nights. The nanny they sent out was fabulous...tending to our three young children as though she had been caring for them for years. When we booked our July 2015 trip, I inquired again and once again had a five-star (if I could give MORE stars I would) experience. Ellie (our nanny this trip) brought along craft activities, took them for frozen yogurt down at Whalers Village and even worked with my seven year old daughter on a hair wrap. As soon as she arrived, our kids were shoving us out the door (which is huge being that my three year old has recently shown signs of separation angst). Not only are the nannies themselves amazing, but the Happy Kids office staff are just as wonderful. They are responsive, warm and exude a tremendous enjoyment for working with visiting families. My husband and I had always talked about the idea of bringing a nanny along with us from home to help with the kids during a trip. In all honesty, it is totally unnecessary with Happy Kids. Next time we will likely use them for a day away (to play golf together, go on a catamaran, kayaking...something of the sort) in addition to an evening or two out at Lahaina Grille. We used Happy Kids twice during our 3 weeks on Maui and could not be more pleased. If I could give Nanny Ramona 1 million stars I would! We have an almost-18 month old who is really at a funny age as far as sitters go. He's really fussy when I (mom) leave him (even when I just go to the potty and daddy is watching him, he is laying on the floor, banging on the door, yelling "MAMAMAMMAA"), even with grandparents or daddy, and is at a rather mercurial age in terms of behavior. He's really a happy-go-lucky guy overall, but with sitters we've had mixed luck. He's only had one non-family babysitter before this trip, and it didn't go well. Enter Ramona. She's amazing. She KNOWS kids. The first time we had to have a nanny as I was officiating a friend's wedding and my husband was doing the photography for the wedding, so we just couldn't watch him. He didn't even fuss when I left she had him so well entertained. She kept me posted with photos and texts (asking if that was ok to do before I left), and she is the FIRST PERSON besides one of his parents to GET HIM TO SLEEP! HE was ASLEEP when we came home!!!!!! That's the last thing I expected. It went so well, we booked her for our 11 year anniversary so we could have a special date night. Once again, great pictures and updates (incidentally, she's an amazing photographer! My photographer husband raved!) and our son couldn't have been happier. She got him to sleep before we got home and offered lots of great tips to us (first timers with a toddler- we can use tips from a pro!). She was really amazing, we could not be more thankful. We booked a nanny through this service for 7 hours starting in the morning. The coordinator was very friendly and prompt and was able to secure a nanny for our 11-month son with 2 days notice. Our nanny, Vicki, arrived promptly on time (it was extremely early in the morning) and also brought toys and activities with her. Our son really enjoyed her company (he was all smiles and full of energy when we picked him up). Vicki also did the impossible, which was getting our son to nap time without a big battle (our son always fusses when we try to put him to sleep. We just returned from Maui last night. Total bummer. It was our first time vacationing there with our two boys, four and two years old. I knew I was going to want a couple adult dinners so I started looking around online for childcare options. I found Happy Kids and started reading reviews on Yelp, Trip Advisor and anywhere else I could find. I decided to just give it a go despite having only left my boys with family and their daycare provider up until this trip. I couldn't have been happier. We reserved two week nights for 3 hours each time. Lisa came both times. She was phenomenal. My four year old spoke highly of her. My two year old, who doesn't talk a lot, walked around with his play phone talking to 'Wisa' the morning after she cared for him. Obviously it costs a nice chunk of change to take a family of four to Maui for a week. It was worth it's weight in gold for my husband and I to have a few hours to eat out quietly and walk along the boardwalk without towing the kids. We were a little hesitant to use someone we didn't know, but because it came suggested through a friend we decided to try it. Happy Kids sent us Vicki and I can tell you our son was one happy kid! We left our 1 year old with Vicki for an afternoon so we could have some time alone. We were a little worried because our son wasn't sleeping well, is teething and was a little grumpy. When we came back, Vicki had written out a full report for us and said he wasn't grumpy at all. When we came back to the condo and saw him and how happy he was we decided to do it again two days later. She was really flexible (we extended our time by an hour on the first day) which we really appreciated. We were thrilled to hear she was available 2 days later so we could get some more time alone and it seemed like our son needed a break from us too. When we came back the second day our son was happy as a clam. In fact I think he missed Vicki a little bit after she left! My husband and I brought our 1 year old little boy with us for our 2 week vacation to Hawaii. We decided to grab some dinner out without the little one on our last night in Maui. We have never had anyone besides family watch our son so it was a big step for us to trust a stranger with our little guy! We heard about Happy Kids from the concierge at our hotel who highly recommended their service. We called and left a message late Thursday afternoon with plans to have a nanny for the next evening. Our message was promptly returned by Cathy who from the start was able to make us feel comfortable about having someone new watch our son. She got some information from us and called back in an hour with a nanny arranged! When Ute, our nanny, arrived she was on time, professional and was great about making our son feel comfortable immediately! He didn't even notice when we walked out the door! Over dinner, my husband I commented about how great it would be if Ute could get our son to bed before we got back. This would be a HUGE feat, as we have struggled for the whole vacation to get him to bed before 10 pm! Needless to say, when we got back at 8:30 our son was tucked in bed and fast asleep... What a miracle worker! She had played and walked around the hotel grounds with him so much he was whopped! The great part is that although we had to pay $22 per hour (this was because we had Ute watch him for only 2 hours) we got a whole evening off since our son was already asleep when we got back! We were extremely happy with the nanny services from Happy Kids Maui. We initially booked a nanny for just four hours but at the last minute decided to add an additional time the evening we called. We asked for the same nanny each time & were accommodated without problem. My 2 year old daughter loved Andy, whom she lovingly called "Auntie". Andy was at our hotel a few mins early both times she came. She was confident & made us really feel good about leaving our 6 month old & 2 year old girls. We try and go to Hawaii twice a year. We go between the islands and also alternate between Wailea and Kapalua, but I know while they are young we will be staying in Kapalua a lot more because of Jacqui. Happy Kids was great! They are responsive and will get you set-up very easily. I thought it was great that if you need multiple time slots, they work to get the same nanny for your child. We needed a nanny 3 times on our vacation in Maui and they got us the same nanny for each. Our nanny's name was Sarah and she was excellent! She came right on time, asked very good questions about our boy (8 months old) and took great care of him; we even ran in to them having a great time at the pool! She even brought her own toys to play with him and he got excited each time he saw her. As a new parent, I felt right at ease with Sarah and the way Happy Kids handled our requests. I would recommend calling about a 4-5 days ahead of your trip to get someone nailed down, just to be safe. We called from the lobby when we arrived and I have a feeling we lucked out since we were there mid-week. read more

I am extremely particular in who watches my children. I booked with Happy Kids Maui and worked with Mary Dickson AND COULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER. In fact, we wanted to book her an additional 3 nights because she took such wonderful care and consideration of our 3 children but she had many other clients that felt the same way as she was booked. She even brought toys, books, crayons and crafts. My children were begging for Mary to come back. Mary sent us several photos while my husband and I were away and was extremely communicative and responsive. I wish Mary lived where we do (Denver) because I would personally hire her as a live in nanny that's how much we trusted her! If you are looking for an amazing service and nanny, Happy Kids and Mary specifically are the best! We so incredibly grateful to have found Mary!!!!! read more

My husband and I traveled to Hawaii with our 10 month old. We used Happy Kids multiple times in Maui and were able to get the same sitter each time, which was great for our son. Susan was kind and compassionate, and I actually relaxed and enjoyed a few nights out knowing she was caring for our son. read more
