You would think customer service would be the goal especially after COVID shut down. Yet, the past two times I have had my nails done with Lucy I have had at least one nail break in less than one week of a fresh set. My nails average $75-$90 with tip. I am mostly at a computer, and drafting paperwork all day, so there should be no reason why nails break so fast. Each time I had a nail break, her response is she is too busy, and would need to schedule an appointment for at least 2 days out. Yup, for her to fix my ONE nail! I am so disappointed that she is nice at first, but is so passive aggressive and rude when she makes a mistake and unwilling admit it or make it right. This last time, I walked in and urged to have it fixed because I had a wedding to go to! I had initially made my new set appointment one week before the event to avoid doing my nails last minute. Now that my nail broke, it was urgent to get it fixed!! Besides, I had made my appointment and paid good money for them. The least she could do was fix it. Disgruntled and annoyed, she "fixed" my nail and left it lumpy, bumpy and discolored. At least the circus nails matched my already chipping nail color. As much as tried to help her make it right, she could care less. Time to throw in the towel and find a new Nail spot. I was researching for a new nail spot in the area and found this hidden spot. They are my new go-to. Lucy, who I believe is the owner, was gentle while working on my mani. She took her time to remove my old gel, which didn't even hurt at all, and she was careful while working on the new mani. I like my mani's looking 'natural', not thick, so I'm very happy with the results and didn't have any pain at all during the removal process. For the pedi's, they take it to another level here. It's not your typical pedi, they add lemon, orange, and other items to the pedi. They massage much longer than other places and it's nice that they use warming lotion too. It felt relaxing and definitely a must-try if you need to treat yourself. Please see my pics for approximate pricing. The place is also very clean, there's relaxing music, and the TV isn't so loud, so you can really relax. They also have complimentary drinks. I tried the Vietnamese coffee, but I don't think it tasted like Vietnamese coffee (I'm Vietnamese). Still, it was tasty and a nice addition to getting my mani/pedi done. Came here on a whim because my other salon was completely full. They had availability and took me right away for a pedicure. The massage chairs were really nice (nicer than my regular salon's chairs tbh). The nail tech was friendly and made a good suggestion on a color. The process was pretty typical and they did a good job. It was a little more than what I usually pay but it was worth the money. I decided to take a chance on this little shop even though some more popular ones were down the road and closer to a scheduled appointment. I sent a message via FB the night before after hours expecting to get an answer in the morning, but I received a message almost immediately confirming they could get me in. When I arrived, Tim greeted me and listened to my concerns about what was going on with my nails and offered ideas. (Dude knows his s**t!) May jumped in doing nails, and Lisa was on my toes. Both were methodical perfectionists and were polite but not over chatty, which I appreciated. My only criticism is a personal one, I don't like the whole pillow thing for doing nails in the chair and reaching over I wish they had supply carts on each side or one hand at a time. It's an overall criticism of the industry, and maybe Tim will be creative, and that will make his shop stand out. Lisa even got my darn ingrown nail out, and the polish is perfect, and I mean PERFECT! May was so focused and would not accept anything other than flawless. And still, when checking out, (total was around $100., and I splurged!!!! Getting a fancy pedi and full set of tips on the mani with french) Tim insisted on a quality control check one more time and found a little bubble that neither I nor May caught. He wasn't barking at her but had her remedy it quickly before I walked out the door. You can tell they all respect each other and work together, and BTW, the place was SPOTLESS with more color options than Home Depots' paint department. Been here a few times for pedicures, the actual polish and callus removal process is nice - no complaints there. I went in yesterday 5/29 and the lady ripped a chunk of skin off my big toe and then rubbed lime on it.. it sounds like a joke but it's not. Now my toe is infected. I am so happy I found The Nails Workshop. I've tried a bunch of salons in the Mira Mesa/Carmel Valley area so I'm happy to find a salon closer to where I live. The best part is the owner Kim used to work at another salon I went to. She is the sweetest and provides amazing service. Kim did my manicure and was very attentive. I love my shape and the care she took while doing my nails. Lucy did my pedicure and it was super relaxing. My feet look and feel 10 times better. All of the staff follows COVID safety measures. Once you walk in you are asked to wash your hands, there is sanitizer throughout, everyone wears a mask, and there are dividers in between stations. My nails were getting to long and I didn't want to make the drive all the way to Carmel Valley, so I wanted a place that was closer to me but had the service dip powder. I called in for a same day appointment for just a manicure with designs and I was taken care of by Lucy. Thank you Lucy for nails, they are holding up strong and I will definitely be coming back! This place is truly a North County Gem! And although I live in the Southbay I am more than willing to drive up because of the quality service I received here. I am so happy to have finally found a place where I can actually relax and receive the treatment that I pay for and then some. The owner Lucy goes above and beyond with every detail of the shop. I love the layout and design on the inside and I love that there are two separate walls full of colors to choose from. I normally do a gel manicure but have recently developed a new obsession with dipped gel powder thanks to Lucy. I have noticed that since I've been coming to the nail workshop my nails have gotten a lot stronger and the gel has lasted a lot longer. Not only are there tons of colors to choose from but there are also a variety of pedicures to choose from. I have never seen anything like it actually. This place has truly given me more of a day spa vibe rather than the typical in and out nail-shop experiences I've had in the past. Both Lucy and Kim provide excellent service, they are very kind and never rush. I could be coming off straight from work and their care and attention to detail can make such a difference in the way my day ends. I've recently started getting my eyebrows done here as well and I have to say that I am very impressed! Lucy can do literally everything and the fact that she is the owner shows me what such a humble person she is. I am so glad the business has survived the pandemic and I only wish for it to continue to flourish and be successful for many more years to come! I normally see May and she does a fantastic job. The owner of this shop also does an excellent job and is very precise with designs. I really love this place! They opened in Feb. before Covid so I'm really happy that they managed to stay open after 2020. The place has been completely remodeled and is beautiful inside. New floors, counters, etc. and is very clean inside. I did the dip powder and they didn't use the UV light like I've had at other salons. I'm so bummed. I've been here several times and have had very good service and the young lady who is the manager is always very polite. Today was horrible though. I'm not sure if that's because the normal manager was gone, or what was happening, but I was sent to a table with a nail tech I hadn't worked with before. No one else was in the salon. When I greeted her she ignored me and just pulled at my hands, no smile, no acknowledgment whatsoever. She was incredibly aggressive and seemed to be rushing despite no one else being in the salon. She kept stabbing her fingernails into the underside of my nail to grip my fingers which was painful. I kept saying ouch and drawing attention to this, but she didn't seem to care. She kept stabbing my cuticles and the sides of my fingers with the metal wire tool that she was using to remove the gel. And then proceeded to buff my cuticles and other fingers after the gel was off. She was taking huge passes and going was going so fast, it didn't look like she could even see what she was doing. She didn't ask me about nail shape and was trying to just move from one to the next leaving sharp edges. When I asked for soft squares, she then changed it and again didn't check back with me. She did alright with the polish but was rushing to file the sides and ended up leaving bald spots on the sides of my nails because of this and still somehow have polish on the surrounding skin. This visit was a 1/5 but I gave 2 extra stars for my previous visits. At least there is polish on my nails but I'm going to have to file all of my nails now so that I don't stab others with the sharp corners. read more

I tried the dipped powder manicure for the first time (I was getting gel manicures before) and I like it better. They also provide complimentary drinks such as wine, water, and sodas.
