I went to The Nail Shop a few times in the last few months in preparation for my wedding on June 16. I went to the shop two days before with my 8 year old niece / flower girl to get manicures and pedicures. Both of us got minor cuts on our feet, so even though we couldn't get full pedicures, Susie was able to at least fix my cuticles and put polish on our toes. They don't do manicures and pedicures on kids, but my niece still loved that she got her nails painted. I wanted a simple, clean look and Susie did a great job. She was so sweet that she let us borrow the blue and sparkly nail polish she used on my niece because she was worried hers would chip before the ceremony. I had booked Jamie (next paragraph) to do my wedding make up, and she said Jamie could just return it after the ceremony. My niece's nails actually didn't start to chip until 4-5 days later, which is pretty impressive for a child.
I went to Jamie based on a recommendation from a close family friend who was doing my hair for the wedding. Before the wedding, I didn't even own lip gloss, and I had never even worn mascara. I told Jamie this during my bridal makeup trial, and she gave me suggestions on what to buy for my emergency bag for the wedding. I went back to see her about a month before the wedding for a facial and eyebrow wax (also a first for me). My skin looked and felt better even a couple weeks later. We had a scheduling issue the day of the wedding, but one of my bridesmaids pitched in to make up some lost time until Jamie arrived. Jamie handled the situation professionally, and everything still worked out despite the late start. All of us looked wonderful, and even though I had false lashes and don't wear makeup, I didn't even notice any of it (even the lashes) after about 30 minutes. read more
