The just ok; The interior is obviously in keeping with the age of the pub (and rightly so) but looks a little drab and when we visited during the day the interior was pitch dark and very uninviting as a result (I know it's day time but put some lights on maybe?). It was a hot May day and there was a roaring log fire which was another turn off (but a great feature in winter no doubt) The bad: I had a very hotly anticipated pint of TEA. I used to live in the area so know this tipple well. It was a very poor pint which had a sour undertaste. Perhaps the pipes weren't cleaned or something. Anyway, I can't damn all their beers from this single pint and sometimes a bad pint is how it goes, but I wasn't left terribly impressed.

They have a fabulous wine list, with super chilled wine (this is so so important, and so many restaurants get this wrong!), and beautiful, hearty portions of food. I had the sea bass - would recommend! mmmmm. In summer I can imagine that sitting out in the large beer garden would be just a delight. in fact, i am going to ensure that i do that one afternoon/evening in the summer next year. I loved this place so much, and often find myself thinking about it. Definitely my favourite date night, ever.

Visiting from the USA to my UK homeland, there's nothing we enjoy more than visiting an English pub…read moreand having good British food and drinks. We decided to visit The Three Crowns after a recommendation from a friend. The setting is idyllic, with beautiful views over the village green next door and a quaint village. We ordered our food from the two course menu for just 15GBP per person, I had the gammon and fries - outstanding! However they make that sauce, delicious! I also ordered a Pimm's which was made extra strong and extra large after they discovered I live in America and don't get to experience it regularly. The garden outside was stunning, a real gem of a pub. Take your time and visit here, you won't regret it. The staff were fantastic, food was brilliant and the drinks plentiful. A 5* British Pub!

The girlfriend spotted the Three Crowns in the centre of Billingshurst as we drove through. A quick U-turn and we were soon parked up As it turned out, we had forgotten that it was Father's Day and the tables inside were fully booked but the cheerful staff offered us a table in their rear garden. Well, another win purely by coincidence. On that sunny day, the huge garden was THE place to sit. There were even some chickens in their run at the back of the garden for the kids (and me) to visit and play with A couple of sharing boards seemed a reasonable choice for the 3 of us just to hold out til the wedding dinner. Well, we had forgotten that in the West Sussex countryside, portions are a tad more generous than in London and the 2 boards came laden and groaning with food. I especially loved the seafood board with fresh large prawns, smoked salmon, poached fish and seafood salad. A spritz of lemon and you could imagine being a few miles down the road at the sea. The charcuterie board was similarly replete with fine cuts of meat. All accompanied by herculean sized pieces of bread, so much so that we didn't even finish one portion of bread between us It was a great start to the day and highly recommended if you're in the area
