I called in to The Moorings recently whilst spending the day exploring Chester, as I've never been to the city before and it's easily within reach by train.
After spending a few hours walking around The Rows and the Cathedral, my girlfriend and I were on the lookout for somewhere to sit down and have a drink and we found The Moorings down by the banks of the River Dee.
The venue itself has a kind of bistro / wine bar feel to it; it's very clean, bright and airy even on a less than stellar January afternoon. There's a decent amount of space inside, as well as outside seating by the Dee which I imagine will come into their element in the summer when the weather is more agreeable for sitting outdoors.
The drinks range is pretty good too. There's tea and coffee available, as well as a full bar if you're looking for something a bit stronger. We ordered two bottles of Corona, which came to around £7 so the prices were around what I was expecting.
The Moorings do also have a food menu, but I didn't manage to get a look at it on this occasion unfortunately.
They were pretty quiet whilst we were in, but I can see this place being pretty popular once the weather improves. Definitely worth calling in for one or two. read more
